You pay peanuts you get inadequate staff, just something else being done on the cheap by the club
  • Perfect excuse to beat the queues at the main bar and try a cocktail from us!

A good 75% of our customers are men so don’t think it’s just for the ladies 😉

I reckon the problem is bigger than just our club, to be honest mate. Bar staff working for these agencies and large hospitality companies generally don’t seem to be very good, and I’ve got a feeling it’s the same across the sporting hospitality industry. I know it’s like this at other clubs, and it’s definitely the case at Wembley.

Yer was gonna say probably better down the leagues where the staff are more than likely employed directly and don't even get a start if they can't do the basics

I asked one for a lemonade a few weeks ago and he GENUINELY asked me in quite a thick African voice “What is lemonade?”

I shit you not. His mate has to tell him to offer me 7 Up.

Face it, who would really want to do that job for an agency? You'd either get one job a week or you'd be shuffled around going to different venues each day. Can't be very nice. I'd suspect most of the more capable ones would quickly find work for more stable employers.

Will the Fuller’s Black Cab Stout be “proudly pouring” from a barrel or bottles/tinnies ?

Remember Tne Oak keeping on Fabrice when he turned up as an agency barman, when Clive and Nat had it. Think he ended up doing just about every shift in the end. The others he came in with were atrocious though. People on here must remember the Guinness's and Smooths they attempted to serve up?

Nice idea, I fear greatly for the execution.
They said that when the club was formed in 1905.

Half Time Black Cab in the Curbs stand. A bit cold, but served well. Quite a few people trying it too.

    Fiver a pint ?
  • I am sorry Killer but that’s just wrong.  This is the Valley - it is supposed to be tasteless flat lagers that you complain about with your mates once you get back to your seat.  It is been that way for 25 plus years.  You are breaking tradition.

I can't remember, but much more than that.

It was from a separate portable kiosk, so much quicker.

I thought the London Stout was quite good for a keg beer, that was in Bartrams after the match.

Some may question just over £7 a pint for the stout. Strikes me that’s good value compared to £2 for a small packet of crisps!!

Had a swift half of the Black Cab Stout at half time and thought it was good.

Had a pint of Black Cab pre-match in The Covered End - have to say, decent beer - I liked it - wish we could get Guinness at the ground though

Imagine the length of the queues if someone said 5 pints of Guinness please.
Some of them can't even poor lager properly.

I buy it quite a lot in bottles. Often on a deal, either 4 for £7 or 3 for £5.75. Very nice beer indeed.

Yep - agree with you - I’ll stick to going Oak pre match (plus Oak has some rather nice barmaids, I’m very content gazing at them for a few hours 😃)
