good news, their form is terrible .. bad news, our form is topsy turvy .. so, a draw is definitely on the cards .. time for Morgan to come back in for Gilbey
3 of Hull Peterborough Reading Derby Barnsley will be down.
then you have clubs that will not go up this year
pompey sunderland wycombe ipswich
will be a v tough league 22/23
That's depressing. We're going to have to radically improve the squad to have a chance.
If we don't improve our squad we can forget about promotion and look over our shoulder. The 4 clubs that come up can't be worse than the 4 teams that will go down!

Of course they can. A whole summer will have passed.
If you've supported Charlton for more than a couple of months, you just know that run is going to come to an end tomorrow night. In fact, if there is one team in the country you would want to play to try and bring that sort of run to an end, it is us.
And should it happen, JJ is going to have some real explaining to do.

Fate does seem to suggest Wimbledon ending their run tomorrow, but in reality it shouldn't happen. What the recent results have shown is that at the moment while we are a mediocre side, we're good enough to beat the poor (Gillingham, Doncaster) and out of form (Burton) sides, and Wimbledon are both.
Too early for JFC to start a game, we have to slowly ease him back. The obvious replacement for Gilbey is of course Morgan, as Lee isn't a "number 8". Indeed Watson would be a better player for that position than Lee.
The good news is that Gilbey is suspended so can’t play, I see that as a very luminous silver lining over the dark cloud that is our current team.
Other than that, can’t see JFC starting given he’s only returned from injury, so presumably he’s picking one of Morgan or Lee to start in unchanged team.
I was gutted this game got postponed last month, would of loved to see the new plough lane. As for the game, meh. Blood a couple of youngsters, nothing to lose. Afcw 2 cafc 1

1-1
I expect it'll be Lee and Fraser, Morgan back to the bench maybe?

I don't disagree but when was the last time either Watson or Morgan played at all?
If minutes don't matter, why do managers keep banging on about it? Why bother with preseason at all.

Which is why managers rotate their squads. Or indeed give senior players run outs in the U23s
It's not as if Gilbey and Fraser have been undroppable with their form in recent weeks, or that Lee has been sensational from the bench either.
Ugh these football games just keep happening!!! How do we make them stop?
That said, I'll probably watch the whole match tomorrow.
Great preview as always @Sage, and @ForeverAddickted your work is always excellent as well. I think it will be DJ coming in for CBT, who I don't think can play twice in four days at that position. Could also see it being DJ on the right, Purrington on the left with Famewo coming in to give Matthews a breather. But agree about the midfield, Fraser still looks off the pace and can't see him playing twice in four day.s
Jacko will have to assess the physical condition of players like Fraser, Blackett-Taylor and Stockley, although I think he'll be keen to keep changes to a minimum. At least Gilbey is out and hopefully Albie Morgan (preferably) or Nile John will get a run out, rather than Elliot Lee, who is both lightweight and out of form. I suspect that it's a bit early for JFC to start a game, although I'd expect him to be introduced from the bench at some stage.
Wimbledon's atrocious 22-game run without a win has left them 4 points adrift of Gillingham in 20th (albeit with a game in hand) and this game is pretty close to a 'do or die' affair from their perspective. At least 4 of their last 6 games are at home, including tough fixtures against MK and Wycombe, with away trips to rock-bottom Crewe and Fleetwood. Wimbledon reportedly turned in a much improved performance at Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday in Mark Bowen's first game in charge, only to concede an injury time winner.
Our supporters will want to see a committed display from the team and, quite rightly, won't be shy about voicing their displeasure if that is not forthcoming. Wimbledon will certainly be up for it but, if we match their level of endeavour and application, we should get a result against a poor side. What, I ask myself, could possibly go wrong ?
My last visit to Plough Lane was a miserable 3-1 defeat on Boxing Day 1989, so I'm looking forward to visiting the new incarnation. To gird my loins against the possibility of further habitual disappointment, we're making a day of it, starting with a few pints and a pub lunch in a couple of Oliver Reed's former watering holes on Wimbledon Common, the Hand in Hand and The Crooked Billet - both featured in one of The Deserter's pieces - https://deserter.co.uk/2018/09/the-legend-of-the-wimbledon-run/
Hard to express my profound feelings of apathy and alienation for the Sandgaard new era.
At least we could hate Roland and Mouthall, admittedly for very different reasons.
How are we supposed to feel about the hero who rescued our broken down car from the side of the road, towed it to the garage at his own expense, and then drove it over a cliff?

Did I win?
Good point.

Looking forward to finally going to AFC ground my local after two postponements watched the stadium being built and my son's work space looks into the ground
I miss the old Greyhound ground, the stockcar racing, car boots but pleased that AFC came home to Plough Lane
Just hoping for a good match, that Charlton turn up, Stockley & Washington take their chances, JFC starts, DJ back?
Lived in area very long time - so done the journey in reverse too many times to the Valley to count I drive but when take public transport.......From Charing X / Waterloo - Northern Line to Tooting Broadway or train to Earlsfield (both 20 min walks)

Come on ? Really ? He has poured money and enthusiasm into the club. It hasn't worked this season, I feel sorry for him. Maybe some lessons learnt? Possibly/I hope so. But driven off a cliff.....what planet are you on? Once we are safe we go again, please think about being more positive, smell the Valley grass- its still there and we have a team. Under Southall and whatever followed we were genuinely going over a cliff. Not now.

Afc Wombletown 1 v CAFC 1
For no reason other to confirm we shouldn't.
Clare, Pearce/ Akin, Lavelle
Matthews, Morgan, Dobbo, Jake, DJ
Burstow, Washington.
They haven't won for ages, they've just appointed a new manager, he used to play for Charlton, how many more omens do you want?
2/1 available on a Wimbledon win, does it make a bad person if I put a score on that?

What have we genuinely become?
If this doesn’t highlight in itself how low we have become on and off the field, nothing will. So sad.
