'The goalkeeper will have a picture of that on his wall, the save that stopped a Ronaldo hat-trick.'

    No he won't.

From an England perspective, don’t we want Spain to win this?

Keeps them away from us for longer I’d assume.
Yeah live update has Spain now in the other half of the draw, and if we win our RO32 game, we'll face Mexico or Saudi Arabia
Its Portugal we just need out of the way next
All the time Ronaldo is playing, Portugal are a busted flush.
    That didn't age well.

Or badly. Proof will come when they're not playing a country whose best sport is chess

It's a shame Lee Dixon's 90 minute nap didn't start at kick off

Last time I saw their bloke Yusupov, he was playing Robert Hübner on board 6 in the USSR v RotW matching 1984.  I'm thinking he's probably getting on a bit now so it's no wonder Ronaldo's got a couple of goals.

Dixon and Matterface’s fawning over Ronaldo is making me feel a little nauseous.

They are a poor combination but have really excelled today

My favourite Ronaldo moment by far.

Keeping Ronaldo on for the full 90 today, does feel like pandering to his desire for a hattrick, when it would make sense to have rested him for harder games to come.

It’s a shame he’s such an awful pundit. I had a good chat with him at the airport after England played in Turkey and he was a really nice guy.

They have some quality young players now in abdusattorov and sindarov who will be playing the world chess champ final In November.

Last night we had a Messi wankfest (I know we've all had one), didn't watch France but probably an Mbappe one and now Ronaldo tonight. Football is finished.

This Boston stadium really winds me up for watching football. The offices at one end especially, although al least they have covered the windows with blue vinyl since the first game here.

Also generally, I know that flags aren’t allowed over the digital advertising displays, but why not over the blue walls?

Fuck me lucky there, Pickford misses the ball entirely and clears him out

No shots on target in the first half of England game and almost likewise for Croatia until the first minute of added time.

Panama playing the same game against them as Ghana did to us.

Croatia manage to get in behind Panama and score to take the lead.

Croatia hold on for a 1-0 win. Panama eliminated which may help out England come the weekend.

That Colombia goal should be disallowed and called back for the blatant dive by the Colombian in rebuild up.

Colombia just had two goals dissected in a couple of minutes. Foul (not sure about that) & offside ( correct)

Colombia squeeze past DR Congo 1-0 with a deflected goal late in the game.

Probably a good thing for England - they don’t want the Portuguese or Colombians finishing third in that group.

You mean we do want DRC who today will have learnt from Ghana exactly how you nullify England and take us to / eliminate us via penalties?

    I do hope I’m wrong.

Understand the pessimism having made a long trip to see a disappointing 0-0 draw but you’d be mad to want Portugal or Colombia (ranked #7 and #11) rather than DR Congo (ranked #47).

If it’s the opponent we end up facing, they will play to frustrate us the same way Ghana did earlier, the same way Cape Verde did to Spain a few days ago and the same way Charlton did to a dozen Championship sides this past season. It will give them their best chance to win, but it requires extreme determination & organisation and still doesn’t always work.
