What a shame for Curaçao. At least they had a moment of joy with that equaliser.
Having stayed up for Brazil v Morocco last night, I watched the full recording of the Haita v Scotland game on iPlayer this morning. A very good facility and option for games of interest in the middle of the night.
Looking forward to Japan v Netherland, which has the makings of a decent game.2 -
Watched the Scotland game replay this morning. What is that pointless area behind the goal with all the windows about? And that ridiculous TV screen they have at both ends really puts our new "big" screen at the valley to shame.
The game was pretty poor. Haiti deserved a draw as Scotland went into their shells in the second half.1 -
A bit of a statement win that for Germany. Yes it was weak opposition, but you don't often see such emphatic scorelines.0

What time did you have your Sunday lunch?golfaddick said:Germany getting the tournament goal count up after Scotland's abysmal showing last night.
(Yes, I stayed up & watched their match. And I can confirm that the sun starts coming up around 3.30am. It was proper light at full time).11 -
Every time I see the ITV team in their swanky Brooklyn studio I can't help looking over their shoulders at the "Leaning Tower of New York" - a building that was topped out 7 or 8 years ago but is still a long way from being finished, because everyone and their dogs are suing each other about why it has developed an unfortunate lean!

Listened to the last match on the radio at the beach - did I hear correctly that Curacao really have a player called Margarita?0

Fancy Japan in this one.1
-
How is the final not in Dallas or the Azteca? Amazing stadiums.0

Why is the Formula One anthem playing?0

Could Everton hold a record for most ex-managers at a World Cup here? Koeman, Ancelotti, Martinez.
edit: It’s Chelsea at this one anyway: Tuchel, Potter, Ancelotti and Pochettino. PSG with three of those too.2 -

The Dutch last defeat in a World Cup group game was against Scotland in ‘78.2

Can’t lose group games if you don’t qualify (1982, 1986, 2002, 2018).guinnessaddick said:The Dutch last defeat in a World Cup group game was against Scotland in ‘78.
And they lost to Belgium in 1994?0 -
Is it me or is the definition on the Dutch players terrible in the long shots?1

Not you - not sure TVs can cope with the orange.SuedeAdidas said:Is it me or is the definition on the Dutch players terrible in the long shots?2 -
Var not bothering with awarding corners. Fine for awarding goal kicks. Hopeless as it looked like Japan should of had a corner just then.0

Fancy Japan to get something out of this1

Been impressed with them pre-tournament. I think they could go further than generally expected.CAFCsayer said:Fancy Japan to get something out of this1 -

I really enjoy the way Japan play, and they swarm forward at pace in good numbers. Makes for an exciting game.2

Don't think the Japanese pass the height test - national average for men 5 ft 7.5 inches. The Dutch are at number one at 6 feet and 0.4 inches.0

These hydration breaks are ridiculous.
Did I miss hear but weren't they gonna stop any tactical information being given during these breaks from the coaches?1 -
I wonder how tempted the top brass at ITV were to run adverts when they have these "hydration breaks"?1
-
That was the plan with the goalkeeper ‘injuries’ I believe. They could stop the tactical discussions at water breaks if they wanted to. Just move them to the centre circle, or respective penalty areas or the other side of the pitch.Karim_myBagheri said:These hydration breaks are ridiculous.

Ridiculously that is by design.Karim_myBagheri said:Var not bothering with awarding corners. Fine for awarding goal kicks. Hopeless as it looked like Japan should of had a corner just then.VAR can only intervene in an incorrectly awarded corner.0 -
I'm really surprised they didn't. I know they got some back lash from the six nations when they ran picture in picture adverts when teams were setting up for a scrum.Off_it said:I wonder how tempted the top brass at ITV were to run adverts when they have these "hydration breaks"?0 -
I'm calling it early.........
This will be the first 0-0 match.1 -

They obviously won't win it, but I think they are the value bet of the tournament at 60s, think they could quite easily win that group and you'll be able to take it off at half that if they doThe Red Robin said:

For Patriots games it’s a members only pitch side hospitality area. Costs about $2000 a year, minimum 4 year contract, and doesn’t include your game tickets that you need to purchase separately. You’re not stuck in the lounge, those windows open up and you can stand pitch side. I’m surprised FIFA couldn’t find a way to use it, but I don’t think they want any fans at pitch level.Karim_myBagheri said:Watched the Scotland game replay this morning. Same at Dallas now - pitchside empty bar one box. They have them at the SoFi too but can’t remember what that was like for the USA game.SomervilleAddick said:
