  • Any logic as to why they draw some teams today but the U21 teams are then drawn 3 days later?

Why not just do the whole draw at the same time?

Just being in this competition every year is an embarrassment.

I am not sure I could face the humiliation of our first team having to play Crystal Palace's u21's... I feel sick even writing it.

Sadly the Papa Johns games were pretty much the only ones I enjoyed last year.

As shit as it is these were some of the most enjoyable games I saw last season purely from a footballing perspective. Complete chalk and cheese with the dross we were serving up in league games. That was until we played Hartlepool of course!

Thank god we've avoided Palace... We always seem to end up with either Brighton or Swansea though.

That's right. Save the big game Charlton 1st XI v Palace's Under 14s for the final at Wembley.

    No.
    Papa Johns Trophy

The 16 Invited U21 teams will be drawn into their respective Northern and Southern section Groups, with the 48 EFL Clubs already placed into pre-determined Groups prior to the draw. Consideration has been given to ensure travel time is minimised and recovery time is maximised for players.

All EFL Clubs will play two of their three matches at home in the Group Stages, with the opening ties to take place week commencing 29 August.

Nope - Brighton and one other game will be at the Valley, then its a bog standard draw come the KO Rounds.

I was wondering that, as we're one of only two Pizza games being played tomorrow
  • Maybe it’s the headline PPV game for Sky 😉?

In all honesty I enjoyed these games last year, it was a sweet relief from the awfulness that was the season - and it was nice to be able to watch a Charlton XI perform without the constant nerve and pressure.
