Steady rain here in berks. It's that odd rain where the drops are three times the size of normal rain. Not that heavy yet though. Some thunder.

clouded over down here on the South coast, cool breeze, should be a better sleep tonight, wouldn't surprise me if we got a bit of rain.kinveachyaddick said:Heavy rain in Herts at the moment - tropical vibes as my youngest calls it0 -
Yeah, but in 1976 ......Leroy Ambrose said:Some models predicting 39 for London on Wednesday. That would break the June record by more than 3 degrees. Nothing like that hot up here, but still 30-32. Hay fever has been monstrous for me the past couple of days too. Live in a new build so it's unbearable in summer as it retains heat so well. Might just kip in the garden like a did a couple of years ago5 -
Very weird to be woken up by a massive thunderstorm BEFORE the heatwave starts properly!9
-
Same! Rain so strong it set someone's car alarm off here as well!killerandflash said:Very weird to be woken up by a massive thunderstorm BEFORE the heatwave starts properly!1 -
In my part of north London, 30mm of rain in the last hour !0
-
Wow, this is the most intense storm I've ever witnessed I think. Several car alarms have been going off now and the lightning is crazy.2
-
Quite localised. The storm before the quiet.

Been awake for two hours. Loudest and longest electrical storm I’ve ever witnessed. One clap of thunder was so loud it was more like a bomb, we literally jumped out of bed and it set some Christmas toy off in our bedroom as all of a sudden Santa Claus is coming to to town started playing! Bizarre
Son is outbounds camping near Orpington. That lightening map worries me16 -
Dont think I've seen rain fall as heavy as that before, well certainly not in this country. So bad it set out car alarm off.
Typically my wife fell back to sleep instantly and I've been wide awake ever since. Doesn't bode well for me keeping my eyes open for the England game tonight!2 -

Let’s just say I picked a bad night to read the BBC advice to open loft windows overnight to cool the house down 😒26
-
Been awake since about 3am and about 4am I remembered I hadn’t bothered covering the garden sofa for probably the first time ever.
those cushions will dry 🤣3 -
Just got back from a week away and done loads of washing put outside to dry. Fortunately decided to bring it in overnight or would be doing it all again. Lad wasnt so careful to put his bike away and he will be getting a wet arse if he goes off on it this am0

So it starts getting over 30 round here today. Wind has dropped this morning so gonna be uncomfortable. Shutting the house up until the sun goes down.If it gets too bad ill sit in the garden , under a brolley in my string vest with my feet in the pond.If anyone is travelling on public transport to work, you have my sympathy.1

I did think yesterday wouldn't it be funny if it didn't come to much now that they've issued the very rare red warning!killerandflash said:Very weird to be woken up by a massive thunderstorm BEFORE the heatwave starts properly!1 -
Trains fucked on the Sidcup line already. I'm on a slow one and got lucky but delays up to 30 mins already. Avoid if at all possible.0

Glad I wasn’t the only one woken up by the thunder this morning. I live on the coast and for a second I thought the bloody Russians were finally bombarding us from the channel 😂4
-
I am normally a very light sleeper and wake up if there is a storm. Last night I had a tower fan going all night and with the windows closed, I didn't hear anything until I got up to go to the loo about 5.30. The rain was a good drink for the garden, but overflowing gutters made a mess.
It's so humid now which is going to make the high temperatures even more unbearable.
Had a day out at the coast yesterday and the temperature was just right, the best place to be when it's so hot.2 -
Have a guess what plonker left the sunroof open on the car last night?
(That must have been why the alarm went off!)
Thankfully it was only on the tilt, so a little bit came in, it could have been a damn sight worse!6 -
Only good news is solar is generating lots of electric from my panels. That equals money in the bank. No breeze and very hot in the garden.Trying to image what it would be like at my old school in this heat. Bloody horrible I think.0

Grey and raining in Cranbrook.0

About twenty miles from you, near Battle, and it’s been grey all morning, some light rain. Clearing now and heating up. Absolutely bucketed it down about 5am for an hour.Redvaliant said:Grey and raining in Cranbrook.0
