Miles Leaburn - Signs New 3 Year Contract (p77)

Yann Kermorgant had real ability in the air and was totally fearless, had a good touch, vision and strength and could finish - that is why he was a great target man but even he never really made it in the top division - unfortunately miles doesn't have that ability in the air, isn't fearless and isn't particularly strong for his size - i think miles falls between 2 stalls and is not a patch on kermorgant as a target man so will end up in league one, tops - hope i'm wrongScoham said:
Get what you mean, but target men don’t need explosiveness, they just need that pace and movement around them.DOUCHER said:I think TC has the most talent out of the 3 strikers we currently have at our disposal - i think all 3 have something to offer and all 3 work their nuts off - no complaints there and none deserve any abuse - i do think Leaburn will end up in league 1 however - the injuries won't have helped but it was always only potential - i don't recall him ever being our go to striker or having a period where he was banging goals in for fun - he's having a good go at it but not enough power or explosiveness in that big frame - ends up on the floor after most things he does - not his fault, just the way it is. It's very clear to me, if we are going to consolidate and then try and progress in this division, one of the positions we need to spend big on is another striker. Should be Phil Chapple's nr.1 priority
Yann Kermorgant was our best all round striker for years and he never had pace. Didn’t stop him being a big part of a Championship title winning team.1 -

No probably not, but he might be better than Kermorgant at other things. Saying he’s going to end up in league 1, when he’s already done well in league 1 and is only 22 just seems odd to me. He’s obviously going to improve so will most likely end up better than league 1DOUCHER said:

@Callumcafc Don’t believe everything on a vlog that can be cleverly edited. I certainly didn’t hear that despite standing directly behind a few who clearly had a deep issue not only with Miles but the whole Leaburn family. When I heard that chant from our fans it was in the second half for a Brum player who skied the ball out of play.Callumcafc said:Lovely to hear our own fans chanting “fucking useless” at him when he missed yesterday. And then the same blokes wonder why TC doesn’t want to acknowledge them when he scores later that same game. And if @Braziliance wishes to prove me wrong on that then please share the time stamped original footage of it relating to Leaburn’s miss. I won’t be happy to hear it but if it’s accurate then I’ll stand corrected.0 -

Miles and TC's goal returns would have been getting pelters at certain clubs far sooner than we have done.
End of the day people pay a lot of money to watch blokes earn a lot of money m, so when they don't perform, and miss open goals, you can understand the frustration.
I don’t think it's nice, but we are extremely lenient. The same ones booing will just have to accept the cold shoulder however when our players do finally perform.
It's just very very obvious that the boos and negativity towards some of our players sends their performances backwards and that hurts us as a club. It's daft and it really only started in recent years when we had some proper dross playing for us.
Fans have to understand the difference between the likes of Leaburn and TC who are clearly giving their all, and have the club at their hearts, to players like Kirk and Gunter who came for a pay day and never once looked like they cared a jot about their performances or their effort levels.
As far as I am concerned if you are giving 100% that is all I can ask and if your performances don't match up that's down to the manager for buying/selecting/coaching you or the budget of the club that we can't get better.
If you are strolling around not giving a shit that is down to he player.0 -

Got a LOL from me. But it's funny you mention Stockley because that's who I was just thinking of. He was lazy, his press was unforgettable - you'd struggle to see someone lumbering about like him in a pro football pitch - and that was while being five inches shorter than Miles, but somehow he got away with it and even had a bulk of fans saying he worked hard.CaptainRobbo said:

Applies differently to target men. You’re allowed to be slow/can’t press etc if you’re very good at holding the ball up, linking play and can score headers.Chunes said:

In my view Miles works 3x harder than Stockley and yet gets 3x the criticism for attitude and laziness. Can't figure it out.Stockley under JJ and the first part of Adkins reign was a very very good target man when played correctly as much as people may not want to admit it.Leaburn is a far better player but tries to play like a striker who has pace/can press and a skillful forward which is why he is judged in relation to those attributes, opposed to how he should be playing like a Stockley or Aneke etc and what people look for in those kind of players0 -
Leaburn is still developing and I believe he will be a valuable asset to the team5

I get what you mean, I'm talking strictly about effort and attitude rather than all-round play. And can you imagine the reaction Leaburn would get if he moaned at other players like Jayden did? Good grief... It would be vitriol.Crispywood said:

Didn’t stop him being a big part of a Championship title winning team.
I bet Leaburn now is absolutely miles better than Kermorgant was at 22. Just think it’s crazy to be writing someone off when they are still so young in their career
In my view Miles works 3x harder than Stockley and yet gets 3x the criticism for attitude and laziness. Can't figure it out.Stockley under JJ and the first part of Adkins reign was a very very good target man when played correctly as much as people may not want to admit it.Leaburn is a far better player but tries to play like a striker who has pace/can press and a skillful forward which is why he is judged in relation to those attributes, opposed to how he should be playing like a Stockley or Aneke etc and what people look for in those kind of players
I'll also add, in addition to someone above pointing out how target men peak later in life, when Stockley was Miles' ages, he scored 1 in 19 on loan to Torquay United.2 -

Trying not to justify our fans who boo our own players, but by all accounts, we are a timid/patient bunch compared to other more 'passionate fan bases'.Callumcafc said:Lovely to hear our own fans chanting “fucking useless” at him when he missed yesterday. And then the same blokes wonder why TC doesn’t want to acknowledge them when he scores later that same game.

It's something to do with the way he ambles around when he's not running and the fact that he spends so much time on the deck.Chunes said:
Got a LOL from me. But it's funny you mention Stockley because that's who I was just thinking of. He was lazy, his press was unforgettable - you'd struggle to see someone lumbering about like him in a pro football pitch - and that was while being five inches shorter than Miles, but somehow he got away with it and even had a bulk of fans saying he worked hard.CaptainRobbo said:
When is Stockley going to blossom?Scoham said:
He did but target men generally do blossom a lot later.DOUCHER said:
well, that's my opinion, you have yours - kermorgant had leukemia in his late teens so blossomed a bit laterNabySarr said:
No probably not, but he might be better than Kermorgant at other things. Saying he’s going to end up in league 1, when he’s already done well in league 1 and is only 22 just seems odd to me. He’s obviously going to improve so will most likely end up better than league 1DOUCHER said:

I don't think Miles is that keen on being a focal centre forward. He is really good with his close control and can pick a pass, I think he would much rather be playing where all 22 yesr olds want to play, behind the centre forward. Morgan Rogers and Jude Bellingham have that role fairly well sewn up currently and I'm not sure Miles has the engine for it but I think as a number 8 he would be awesome.
Not going to happen currently though so if I was in Miles' size 14s I'd be working on the psychology of a 6 foot 5 centre forward and become a horrible bastard. He has all the ability and I'm glad he plays for us, if he becomes a bastard he will be a £15million player2 -

I won’t be happy to hear it but if it’s accurate then I’ll stand corrected.
My reaction to Miles miss was directly after the chance and before half time, whatever you heard in the audience from our fans is what happened.
Do you know how warped I would have to be to find audio from a different time, merge that into my clip and make it sound authentic, and even then, for what reason?
If it makes you sleep tonight, time stamped video of original clip of rant, time on the video 15:37.

Question is does he want it bad enough. Obviously people question TC’s ability but 2 years ago he looked like the most physically lightweight Timid lethargic player at the club, like him or not his physicality and fitness transformation has been seriously impressive not to mention his commitment to learn a completely new position/role.Carter said:I don't think Miles is that keen on being a focal centre forward. I think it’s very unfair too say he’s egotistical and lazy but there’s a certain stubbornness to adapt to what he’s better suited for.0
