Ahh, that's such sad news to start the day. He seems to have been ever present in one thing or another for as long as I can remember. Gave such a lot of pleasure to so many people over such a long time.
Absolutely part of the furniture. My first memories are of Jackanory, the Wombles and songs on Junior Choice - they seemed to alternate each week between Right Said Fred and The Hole. Wonderful, versatile talent. Thanks for the memories Mr C. RIP.
RIP. Very sad. One of those people that's been a constant in British entertainment for so long. Even my 5 year old boys enjoyed watching him in a programme called Old Jack's Boat on CBeebies.
He was a regular at a place my Daughter worked and although she was only early 20's she loved his acting, especially The Railway Children and Doctor Who. She chatted to him and next time he came in he asked for her by name, but it was her day off. He had brought a lovely hand signed photo for her and wanted to give it to her personally as he was touched he said by her kind words from his previous visit. Now that's a special star and my Daughter has it on her living room wall to this day. RIP Bernard - a real superstar and Gentleman .
