Some interesting results already today.
In terms of Brits, both Harriet Dart and Andy Murray have won while Kyle Edmund lost. Jack Draper is due on court shortly.
Emma Raducanu, Dan Evans and Cam Norrie play tomorrow.
Biggest upsets on day one so far are Harriet Dart beating 10th seed Kasatkina and Halep (7th seed) losing to Ukrainian qualifier Daria Snigur.
In the men’s draw, 16th seed Bautista Agut is out after losing to American wildcard JJ Wolf.
Comments
10th seed Fritz has also lost in four sets to American qualifier (and son of Tracy Austin) Brandon Holt. Holt had to get a wildcard for the qualifiers and now he’s beaten the top American in the main draw.
Almost happened simultaneously.
Both of those seeds were in Murray’s quarter of the draw. Great news for him, and the remaining top seeds in that quarter: Berrettini (13) and Ruud (5).
A decent run here for Draper and Murray and they both could hit the top 40 in terms of ranking.

Murray #46
Draper #50
Draper faces Felix Auger-Aliassime in the next round which may be a step too far at this stage of his career. While I'm hopeful that Murray can win against American wildcard and world no. 200 Emilio Nava.
Dan Evans has just broken Jiri Vesely's serve in the first set to take a 1-2 lead.
Raducanu winning/competing in the short rallies but Cornet is just playing defensive and letting Raducanu make mistakes.
Stat on the coverage: Cornet is winning rallies of nine shots or more by 17-7.
3-2 Raducanu and back on serve. Only one game held in this set so far.
Raducanu couldn’t beat Cornet’s defences. 90% of shots that might’ve been a winner against others was coming back.
Although it is against the rules at most tournaments, i've noticed that there's a rule change here and players will now be allowed to receive coaching from the stands during the tournament.
Last year's win was a huge outlier, but I think it'd be seen as OK if it wasn't for that win - she's beating people outside of the top 50, say, and losing to those inside, needs to improve next year, etc.
That isn't to say that Raducanu wasn't worthy of winning the US title last year, because she was, but unless she brings some consistency to her game then it will be hard for her to do. Her age, experience and numerous distractions in the last year including her change of coaches, rapid fame and all the off the court activities that come with it won't have helped either.
Raducanu is a top 100 player who hopefully can work her way back up the rankings.
