Come on England!
I’ll take that. 😎
(I’d enjoy knocking India out more though!)3 -

Oh nooooooooooooo!0 -
In the world T20 rankings we only have 3 players in the top 10’s - batting Malan is 6 - Bowling - Curren is 7 and all rounders Ali is 4th.Wonder what that’s based on ?0

I would consider Jordan for malan as he's injured. Stokes played the 3 role perfectly and Jordan gives the extra death bowler and yorker specialist option which apparently suits adelaide where our semi is.
I'd be flying Joe Root out there ASAP (failing that Ollie Pope). Of course if have had Root in the original squad so that would have solved that.

Buttler wanted the extra bowler as the balance of the side until Harry Brook impresses against Pakistan. I suspect he will use this opportunity to revert to that.
Mo is in good form with the bat and we bat deep so I see no issues with it.0 -

The only thing I'll say re: picking Jordan is that if we're playing India, people who can play spin well are crucial, so I'd be strongly considering Duckett too1 -
I suppose much will depend on the pitch as well as the opposition.0

Could Phil Salt come into contention possibly? I know he's usually an opener but he could come for Malan. I just don't like Jordan at the death because it's either on the money or costs you the game.0

Gutted Aussies and Indians, great combo! Well played England.0
-
My money would be on another batsman coming in .0

If it's a turgid pitch, then we need more than flat track sloggers in the batting lineup0
-
Overall, we really haven't been great with the bat:
113-5 (18.1)
105-5 (14.3)
179-6 (20.0)
144-6 (20.0)
For a 20 over innings, that's an average of 149-6
By contrast, the opposition scores have been:
112-10 (19.2)
157-10 (19.2)
159-6 (20.0)
141-8 (20.0)
That's an average score for a 20 over innings of 142-9
So we don't have an issue in taking wickets or restricting the opposition in scoring runs and have 7 different bowling options already. However, the batting has become very reliant on two players:
Buttler & Hales - 244 runs off 185 balls at an average of 30.50 and a strike rate of 131.89
Rest of squad - 259 runs off 251 balls at an average of 18.50 and a strike rate of 103.19
In conclusion, I don't see that there is more benefit in having say an extra bowler in Jordan than the potential that someone like Salt might bring given his ability to score exceptionally quickly. If we had four or five batsmen already in exceptional form that would be different but we simply don't and should one or both of Buttler and Hales fail then we might be in deep trouble and would need as many front line batsmen as possible.3 -
SA won toss and chose to field in Adelaide.56-0 after 8 overs.0
-
Netherlands finished 158-4 from their 20 overs
SA 99-4 from 14 overs
60 required from 36 balls, or 10 an over0 -
If SA fail to chase, they’ll be out and it leaves the door open for the winner of PAK/BAN later to qualify.0
-
48 from 300
-
Shock win for the Netherlands who defeat South Africa by 13 runs.
All of a sudden, the next match is effectively a quarter final.3 - Sponsored links:

Bangladesh 127-8 from their 20 overs
Seems a light total but it’s been incredibly hard to score runs with the pace off. Expecting Pakistan to chase it down but it won’t be easy.0 -

What no. No. How. Lol0 -
I blame making them play at midnight, wasn't fair om the players or the fans.2

Who would India rather face NZ or England …..
Not much in it but we have to be a bigger threat0 -
SA have so many of the best T20 hitters in the tournament. Absolutely unthinkable they'd be out before the semis. But this is what they do I guess0

If Zimbabwe manage to win this, they grab the last available direct qualification for the 2024 tournament, currently held by the Dutch. That would put the Dutch in a three-way fight with Ireland and Scotland for two places in the next competition, those three being massively stronger than any other European side. If the Dutch hold on to fourth in the group, there will be one more European team than the ICC would have been planning for.0
