  • All over!
    Semi finals.

Alex Greenwood was Brilliant yet again at the back.
  • Through to the semis despite only one decent performance in 5 games. Starting to wonder if our name is on the cup...
  • Yessss. Take that all day.

Hard to gauge as I was following updates on the BBC but sounded pretty average, but we're in the Semi's.
  • Was a struggle the last 10-15 minutes but once again the win is all that matters.

Australia in front of 80k home fans in Sydney will be as tough as it gets in the semi though.
  • That'll do. Never really felt like we'd lose that even when we went one down. We could have been smarter with the ball but in the end we restricted Colombia to speculative shots and they never looked like they could break us down. Comfortable enough, onto the semis
  • They’ll need to play much better than that against the Aussies.
  • Russo was so good
The way she plays she’d be the perfect partner for May
  • Australia and England have won, now the hardest part of the 3 teams I wanted to win today: Charlton Athletic.

    I did!  We weren't creating a lot.

Happy to have been proven wrong.
  • Russo reckons we got three points! Maybe that’s her prediction for the Addicks?

Both Russo and Hemp played well in the two.
Sometimes Russo has a heavy touch but the demands on her as a starter every match is enormous. She is not blessed with pace but in both the Euro's and the WC she has worked so hard and scored goals.

The Girl from Kent said we got the 3 points in the interview and are now in the semi final🤦🏼‍♀️ I refuse to make any comments on Blondes 🤐

Colombia will take over from Brazil as South America's number 1 team In the next few years.

We didn't really need to though. I was confident we'd level and once that happened it was just a case of creating one goalscoring chance because they were only going to be driving long rangers at Earps. I didn't see them getting another cross to dip in for them and we weren't stupid dangling legs in the box to give away a penalty

ITV just put up a caption saying Ian Wright had 161 England caps as he's on the screen.🤷🏻‍♂️

It's the Queen of the Jungle not Wrighty 😀

Santos for them and Greenwood for us players of the match. Not a very convincing England performance.
Apart from China none have been, buy hopefully it will get us past the hosts and win the final!
  • Was listening to the RTE comms as I was cleaning the holiday cottage.
I really hope the Irish nation is praying for them. They sounded distraught at the end 😜😜😂😂

Extra tuna for Russo for scoring the winner 😽😽

Gutting, went out to make a cup of tea, missed the equaliser, I never learn.

Some shocking defending, going on there, hoping we can push on 2nd half and get a winner.

why on earth did you go to make a cuppa in the last minute of stoppage time? to beat the half time rush in the kitchen?
Charlton do the catering in her house. Took me 15 minutes to get a Bovril last week.
  • can't believe how the women's game has, and still is improving, the standard now is very high and the players are both skilful and committed .. a great win for England against a tough and clever Columbian outfit .. at the end, the win was due to an error from the Columbian keeper, overall though England were just the better team

No histrionics, good sportspersonship and a high level of skill and stamina ..  the blonde ponytails now face the hosts in what will be a no quarter asked nor given semi final

That's worked out well so far this year.

Let's hope Sarina Wiegman doesn't declare on 90 minutes.

True. Different sport though so let's hope.

Will we swap the match ball for a newer one?

    Drew both the Ashes series.

Draw again, win on penalties, done.

  • I like the idea of VAR, but it needs some major changes in implementation:

    1) VAR has to make a decision within 60 seconds, if they can't then it wasn't a "clear and obvious error"

    2) VAR needs to have confidence in it's own decision making process. None of this calling the ref over to a monitor. The ref got it wrong first time, why would you ever ask them to take a second look. 3rd umpire in cricket doesn't ask the on-field umpires to review the footage, it makes a decision and informs the on-field officials they were wrong or right.

    3) Offside needs to be simplified. All this drawing vertical lines nonsense is time consuming and goes against the whole reason the rule was introduced. Just make it so that just the heels of the players matter, if the attacking player has one heel onside (i.e. pitch-side of the defenders back-most heel, they're one). I'd also say we need linos to make decisions (sort of like the soft signal in cricket). If VAR can't work out the offside in under 30 second then stick with the on-field decision.

    4) Stop hiring referees to run VAR. The reason we have VAR is because of the generally poor level of decision making by referees, we won't see an improvement until we have specialised VARs. Training should be simple, we've got literally thousands (if not millions by now) of videos of decisions we can use to train them. The ones with the highest accuracy rate and who can do it within the above timescales qualify to be the VAR on match days.
Common sense? What’s wrong with you?
  • Just seen one of the columbian players in the dugout balling her eyes out, wonder if she’s just broke up with her boyfriend.

Blonds or Blondes👱🏽‍♀️ I have no comment but 5 matches and 5 victories are the way to go deep into a tournament.

The fact we have 6 penalty takers for their clubs is a big advantage when it goes down to the wire in a shoot out.

Lauren James will get a chance now to take part in one more match (if selected) 3rd or 4th place or even the final.

The Australian were very impressive today and the the only team to beat the lionesses in the last 35 matches.

50/50 game with England being the away team in the Semi final.

I thought Columbia did a good job pressing our midfielders but were weak defensively in the box as both our goals showed. I thought we could have taken Toone off and brought England on and try to be a bit more direct against that opposition but we won and that is what it is all about.

Our goal scorers were our standout players today I thought.
