  • Oh dear. Doesn't take long for Ganer to morph into Adkins or Jackson.
  • My prediction of 0-9 might have to be revised!

Guess it could equally be 3-4-3, as someone has suggested to me on twitter

    Wollacott
    Clare - O'Connell - Thomas
    Egbo - Dobson - Fraser - Sessegnon
    Rak-Sakyi - Stockley - Kirk

What the f*** does Elon know about football in general and Charlton in particular?

Its his next venture... Once he's purchased twitter, he's decided to invest in Charlton

    You heard it here first.

Not a lot mate mate he’s pretty spaced out these days 😉.
  • Sounds like he's changed things up to 3 at the back.

Is it covering the fact Thomas is a bit weaker? Or just want more wing-back play on the counter?
  • Garner seems determined to get Clare in the line-up .. anywhere will do

Probably the best way to be where our nutjob club is concerned.

Charlton: Wollacott; Clare, Thomas, O'Connell, Sessegnon; Egbo, Dobson, Fraser, Kirk; Rak-Sakyi, Stockley (c)

Subs (not used): MacGillivray, Lavelle, McGrandles, Morgan, Payne, Blackett-Taylor, Aneke

    Reads like 4-4-2

                     Wollacott

    Clare Thomas O’Connell Sessegnon

        Egbo Dobson Fraser Kirk

            Rak-Sakai Stockley

    He still wouldn't buy a striker  🙂

He certainly doesnt like a back four without Inniss...
  • Egbo can play right midfield, so it may not be a change of formation at all.

Clare RB, Sess LB, Egbo RM, Kirk LM, Rak-Sak up front.

first match live this season. Beaut of a day to do it.

Think 442 still from the team sheet.

Can't lose to a team sponsored by Ed fucking Sheeran.
  • Thomas, o’connel and Clare at CB, sess & egbo wingbacks??
  • Garner seems determined to get Clare in the line-up .. anywhere will do
Does he? He dropped him at first opportunity after Egbo came back from injury.

Obviously something tactical about todays formation, perhaps slightly forced by Innis suspension and CBT/Campbells fitness.
  • Or Kirk in the 10 role just in front of Fraser Dobson
  • Brave, inspired, desperate, enforced, insane...

I suppose we will find out in the next 3 hours.

I think it's probably a culmination of things. I suspect he's long wanted to play 3-4-3 but hadn't really had the right players fit to play it well. I think one of the biggest factors is probably that Campbell is out and CBT has just come back, plus Aneke is still working his way back, so he doesn't want to risk those two from the start.

It also matches Ipswich's formation. After Tuesday night where MK sat deep and cut off space in the middle of the park, I suspect Garner will be thinking of ways to create width and overloads to try to prevent that from happening again.

Knowing our luck his missus would probably just leave a dump on the centre circle

PS I’m not starting the match thread after doing it midweek and causing us to lose. :-)

Dont worry Callum, we all know AFKA was at fault for being selfish and having a alcoholic beverage

Agreed, I don't think this is about getting Clare involved, though Clare is a good player at this level even if he's not having his best season so far. Clare would play less if we had a true second choice Left Back, but we don't.
  • A week ago CBT was  doubtful for Shrewsbury but would def be fit for MK. Now he's only fit enough for the bench.

Also fecking start your best striker. Stockley is so out of form he's got as many goals in open play as O'Connell & Clare
  • Be interesting to see Thomas play a full game
