Met him on a flight once. Absolutely charming man and very pleasant. Our conversation started with me asking "Excuse me, but are you Leslie Phillips?" to which he replied "Of course I am, dear boy!"
Many years ago I was on the tube going back to the office, and he got on and sat opposite me - I can’t remember what I said, but he was utterly charming, and chatted to me - we both got off at Charing Cross, and chatted as we walked along and out of the tube station - when it came to saying goodbye he shook my hand and said that he had really enjoyed meeting me and chatting - delightful man

Oh dear that’s very sad to hear. He and Terry Thomas were the quintessential English gentleman cads, there’s so many of those timeless black and white films, particularly from the late 40’ through to early 60’s…..he was then and we’ll remembered to this day as a household name. RIP…..Leslie…..RIP.
