It's not simply about money if you have useless people in charge. RD and TS have specialised in employing hopeless people.
The majority of clubs in L1 and L2 are run better than us and plenty have lower budgets.
We're a basket case at present....
We're the classic struggling big boy that well run smaller clubs love to play and beat.
The opposite scenario of most of our time under Lennie and Curbs, when we were the plucky and popular underdog, with a team playing above their level, with 100% commitment and great team spirit.
Got 7th place in premier league 19 years ago, the next couple of seasons hovered around mid table. The fans wanted more, the club sold their best player Scott Parker. Got rid of Curb. Like a snowball going down hill ever since.
I'm catching up here but this is the sort of thing I'd expect someone who doesn't know Charlton to say. Parker forced his move, Curbs left because he wasn't given a longer contract. The decisions after Curbs left have been consistently poor, but it's a bit rich to blame the fans for the decisions of RM, the Spivs, Roland, ESI, Sandgaard etc.
I genuinely wonder if Sandgaard even knew we were playing tonight or even gives a toss if he did. Clearly the club means nothing to him other than a way of keeping some of his hangers-on employed. The danger is if we mean so little he won't give a flying one if we go to the wall. He can probably write off most of his investment against taxes. God this is so depressing
When your father is the owner of a successful multi million dollar business, isn't it normal to learn that business with a view to taking over? Obviously not if your name is Sandgaard and incapable of following in Daddy's footsteps. What you do as a parent? Buy a football club and jointly fuck it up.
Oh wait, I forgot, Dobson gave away a penalty, he's crap now, Pratley is much better in my curdled rose-tinted idiot memory, we need someone to push their players over and shout a bit and kick it out of play. Have it
But you also think Morgan is a good player so probably best to wind it in a bit.
He's a talented player who sometimes does good things
Morgan is probably the best striker of the ball at the club at the moment. The problem is he doesn’t seem to have a footballing brain. As a consequence that leads to poor decision making. You would have though he could be improved through proper coaching - corners, free kicks - to maximise the use of his ability to strike the ball.
But we don’t seem to have players practising anything. How about keeping shots on goal down and getting them on target? We don’t seem to practice that either.

Yeah but Elliot Lee in the DM role sh!ts over both of them.
We played crap and got what we deserved... I really hope that Hayes has a plan B or we are only gonna see a repeat show Saturday, we have Stockley back then so at least we will have a recognised forward, along with maybe Kanu, but that barrel is getting a proper scraping now...🤷♂️

Curbs left because he DIDNT want a longer contract. It was going to run out the following season & RM wanted to extend it because he felt players joining that summer (it was around April time iirc) would question why Curbs was only staying for another year.
Because of that both Curbs & RM felt it best he left that summer instead & was given a very warm send off from everyone.
One of the great ironies of this match is that one of our best players at pushing round lower league teams tends to be Stockley. He's had an absolute pig of a season and manages to find himself suspended for one of the very few games where he might have looked alright. Lovely stuff.
We missed Stockley so badly in the two Stockport games. If he's on the pitch in the 1st game (TBF he would've probably been taken off for Chuks) they might not score the headed equaliser because he is so strong at clearing corners.
Stockley has to play for all sorts of reasons; allows Chuks to do his thing late on, clears the corners, does at least occupy the defenders with a bit of physicality and, with the right service, should get some goals. All of these are reasons why he should start up front rather than Kirk or DJ.
We've had Stockley's physicality all season and it's yielded one goal from open play. I think we are now firmly at the stage where we've got to stop justifying what this current set of players, individually and collectively bring to this club.
I appreciate Garner's system doesn't suit Stockley, and he may be carrying an injury, and the fact that the likes of Aneke can only manage 20 minutes, but quite frankly, we should be past the point of caring. They're not good enough, any of them. This isn't a dig at you, but I find it baffling how much time we afford to crap players. Calling Aneke a cheat code is embarrassing. Talking up JFC in the Papa Johns games. Calling Raki Saki mustard at this level. Comments like, 'there's a player in there' with reference to Morgan. This is a group of players that have managed 6 wins in 20 I think. We were woeful last season, we weren't actually very good the season before when we finished 7th.
For me, it seems that the crap we have been served up consistently now has lowered our expectations to the point where we had many come out of Friday's game against Cheltenham saying we were unlucky and we played well in the second half. We've literally become a dog that's been beaten by it's owner and on the odd day our owner doesn't hurt us, we think, 'oh, this is okay really, we didn't get hit today'. Crass analogy I know, but we've been served shovels of shit for so long now, we've forgotten what acceptable looks like.
Acceptable, from a playing perspective was Lyle Taylor, Cullen, Aribo, Bielik etc. Not Matthews, Purrington, Elliott Lee, CBT, Mansfield, Mr Tickle or any of the other players that have been polluting this club over the last 2 - 3 years. They all need to go. the majority should've followed Gilbey on loan to a league 2 side. I've lost track of who people think is still capable at this level, but for me, I don't know if any of them are. Maybe Dobson, Clare at a push. You're then left with an absolute sorry bunch of professionals, paid to much for the job they do and without a backbone between them. There should've been a massive clear out in the summer of the season before last, and again this summer. There hasn't been, and nothing has changed.
They are beyond excuses, permutations of team selections or justifying there living with one bright moment every 5 games or whatever. Atrocious footballers, the lot of them
Until we sign some more, they are all that we've got. We all know that collectively they're shit...thats obvious....but its December and we can't sign anyone until Jan. Until then, can we perform better than we have done of late? My view....100% yes, with the right thinking.
Don’t think Chin had a bad game he made one mistake that cost us the killer goal … but he was excellent along with Laville and Michell but there lies the reason why we are in bad run not long ago we beat Shrewsbury Pompey and 4-4 Ipswich then we lost 3 of our 5 defensive players …second half was pretty even up-to the second goal ..it was difficult game before last few days and doubt there was much time to get his own ideas across althrough there was a slight change in style .. keep going it will change hopefully we get that bit of luck on Saturday and it’s our day but it was a great test for the young players
Nothing in that performance deserves the word excellent you clegnut
Is Fumbluff Bluffing, having a laugh or just fucking deluded………we were playing Stockport County not fucking Man City. 🤣🤣🤣🤣👎👎👎👎👎👎
Can you read?
Yes thank you very well, So what did you say none of us fans can understand?????

Excellent post. Says everything I've been thinking and stating.
This was an accident that didn't need to happen but the person with responsibility did nothing constructive to prevent it.
The game is on ESPN+ for those in the US. I have meetings during it so will watch it tonight. Might subject my girlfriend to it. She's been loving the World Cup despite no previous interest in soccerball. I figure a Second Round FA Cup replay oop North on a cold and windy Wednesday is about as good an introduction to Charlton as I could give her.
Can confirm we are still together.
She wanted to watch Portugal v Switzerland instead. When I saw the result, I figured I tacked on at least another month to our relationship by not submitting her to...that.
She'll be forced to watch Charlton yet. I'm playing the long game. I'm waiting until we have a strong squad and a promising manager who can get the most out of it. Then I'll start dropping hints about how much fun it is to watch Charlton again. And then bam, she'll fall right into my trap.
So I figure I'll get her around the time we retire in 30 years. Or maybe slightly before the heat death of the universe. It's all coming up Millhouse.

Probably best to keep your love for Charlton a secret mate….
The Football Association has apologised after a video was posted to the FA Cup TikTok account making light of Macauley Southam-Hales' head-first collision with an advertising board.
The now-deleted video was set to music with the word "crunch" timed to impact.
The 26-year-old Stockport County full-back was taken to hospital following the incident but later given the all-clear after a CT scan.
An FA spokesperson said the video should never have been published.
"The post was created by an external agency and we will review our processes to ensure this never happens again," the FA added.
The incident occurred during Wednesday's FA Cup tie against Charlton, which Stockport won 3-1.
The TikTok video was set to the theme of a 1980s advert 'That's Why I Love Nestle Crunch', with Southam-Hales' impact with the hoarding accompanied by a thud and screaming sounds.

Have we reached equilibrium..?
