I hope the Aussies win as it might prove that our approach to test cricket, while entertaining, is not suitable win a 5 day test match
Apart from the last one and a half Test matches you mean?
Sime say the Bazball believers are weird. Actively hoping England lose an Ashes Test to prove yourself right is next level though…
perhaps you didn't realise that Aussie have retained the Ashes, if our batsmen had not thrown the bat so much in the earlier tests then we would have won the ashes. The Aussies play a better test match game although we play more entertaining cricket. I would rather we won the Ashes, we didn't this is a dead game and really the result is immaterial.

You said the England approach is not suitable to win five day Test matches - they’ve won 12 of 17 under Stokes and it most likely would’ve been 13 of 17 without the Manchester weather.
If you want to go scorched earth because the Aussies won a couple of close games, I suppose you’re welcome to that.

agreed but if I remember we beat SA and NZ both of whom were not at their strongest unlike Oz and India

Aussies get a lead of 100+ by close tomorrow.

Losing quick wickets might not be wholly bad if we can nip a few out tonight.
When does Stokes declare? Before or after Tea?
And, when we bowl them out before stumps, do we enforce the follow-on in the morning?

Try and get close to 300 and we will have done well.

50 overs before tea is appalling even if there is no "weather" its going to be another 10+ overs in the bin, never to be seen again.
