[cite]Posted By: KBslittlesis[/cite]Cole always needed at least ten attempts at goal to score one in his prime.
Now he'll need twenty!!!!!
Oh please no, Andy Cole in Charlton shirt.................nearly as bad as that tw@t reject from the Spanners.
I'll gladly eat my hat if turns out to be anything other than a complete waste of football boots.
Sure, Cole misses a few but he invariably tots up a good few goals every season.
So I guess his secret is the same as any other decent striker - read the game well, anticipate and ensure you are in the right position at the right time. He'll ensure he gets 2 or 3 chances a game and the law of averages will mean he'll score plenty.
If he's still mobile and fit enough, then no reason why he can't do a job for us.
PS: Has anybody ever really eaten their hat...... ;-)
Dunno- hope i'm wrong but i'm sure similar stuff was being said about JFH this time last year.
I think what was being said about Hasselbaink this time last year was that he'd scored a few goals at Boro this season, wages may be a problem but if he'd agree to a wage cut then he could be worth a punt....
Pards has spoken before about getting some experience in. I am in the positive camp about Cole - JFH's game in his prime was about his power and strength. When he lost that there was not much left. Cole's game is more about right place right time and being able to finish well - I don't think he's ever lived off his pace, so his attributes should still be with him even at this age. And as someone else has said, he is still in shape. I think he would do a very good job for us for a season at least.
The consequence is though that whoever it is, we will have 6 strikers - which must mean one will be going, either on loan or for good.
Must admit this has tipped my interest, have no idea who it is but they'll only be on £5-£7k per week & no more, make your own assumptions on who it may be based on that.

Cole had his contract terminated by Portsmouth today, so maybe it is him. Can't see him getting a contract with anyone for the type of money he was on at Portsmouth, so wouldn't be surprised if he took around £7k a week for sake of getting another year in football.

He only got 4 in 23 games - a similar record to Hasselwaink last season
He's scored around 224 goals in 499 club games, with good support play he would be a good squad rotated player who would score goals next season IMO

In Pards we trust????
JFH was into double figures for Boro the season before he joined us and was a regular for them

Moody, overpaid, hasbeen who will get the hump when Varney, Iwelumo and Todorov are in front of him.
He didnt do anything at this level with Birmingham last season to suggest to me that this is anything but a panic buy.
When will we learn.
I don't think it will be Cole.
definately NOT Cole then.
