Charlton Athletic vs Bolton WanderersSaturday 28th January 2023 - 12:30pm Kick-OffReferee: Carl BrookIntroductionIts not unknown for many Football fans to feel as though their club is in more dire trouble than any others... Regardless if its ownership woes, or whether its something as simple as fighting to preserve Premier League Football - One thing many can agree on is that the general state of Football is an absolute mess, the circumstances behind our postponement at Peterborough are nothing new in the game, yet once again very little will truly be done about it, if anything can - Having had a two week break, we now turn our attention to hosting another Play-Off chasing side... There are a few at this level!!
The OppositionName: Bolton Wanderers (5th) | Manager: Ian EvattGround: Reebok StadiumPrevious League Result: Bolton 1-0 Forest GreenBolton travel to the Valley with one win already in the bag this last week - Tuesday night saw them hosting a struggling Forest Green Rovers at the Reebok Stadium, an early Dion Charles goal decided the contest, but with 37% possession, and just two efforts on target, it wasn't an easy night for the hosts - Of course the sending off of Charles didnt help matters, however their top scorer (with thirteen this season) will be available tomorrow. Instead it is Elias Kachunga who will be serving the suspension instead, after a case of mistaken identity... Easily done of course, I mean what wally wears the exact same outfit to work as a colleague... Asking for trouble when that happens.
In terms of overall form; Bolton come into this clash with just the one defeat since mid-December, albeit they've drawn almost as many games that they've won in that period, their last defeat being handed to them last Saturday, a 2-1 loss at fellow Play-Off chasers: Derby County - In terms of head to head between us and Bolton, well fortune appears to have favoured the visitors in recent years... they've won the last three matches against us, albeit have just the one win at the Valley since 2005... Lets keep it that way please.
Charlton Team NewsOur new Manager arrived at the Valley will plenty of unimpressed faces from the Charlton faithful, yet recent results and interviews have quickly made him flavour of the month here in SE7 - Dean Holden of course started his career with Bolton, as a Right-Back he played just 21-games in all competitions for the visitors before moving on to pastures new.
So what sort of line up can we expect this Saturday, especially after an extra week of rest, which after the Barnsley game was much needed, especially with the tiring game against Man Utd being very recent - Well for starters; Steven Sessegnon looks set to be wrapped in bubble wrap for the rest of the season with his knee issues, yet could well start at Right-Back for the first time this season. Thats because we've finally got a proper Left-Back in the building: Matt Penney has joined on loan from Ipswich, and will surely go straight into the team having been playing North of the border for Motherwell this season.

Bonne to score his first goal since his return, Leeeeaaaaaabbbbuuuurrrrrrnnnnn with the other.
Charlton to continue Holden on to dreams of sneaking into the play-offs ...
It's a lunchtime kick-off, live on Sky ... it'll be appalling to watch, no atmosphere, and we'll either hold on for a grim 0-0 draw or we'll lose to a spawny effort at goal or shocking bit of reffing.
I'm not bothering to go to this one, I really can't be arsed to set off at 7:30 ... having to leave home at 10am for a normal ko is bad enough.
I'll settle for slightly delayed Sky TV pictures synced up to @KillersBeard and @StubleyAddick ... assuming they remember it's an early start and get there on time ...
Feeling reasonably positive about the Bolton game, so let's hope the team turn up and give a good show, we have had an extra week after the postponement fiasco last week...
See we have some pre match entertainment..
Professional football freestyler, Jay Roza, will be coming to The Valley this Saturday for our Sky Bet League One clash against Bolton Wanderers. He will be showing off his tricks in the Family Activity Zone from 11am where you can go and watch his mesmerising performance!
Jay will then be heading into the stadium at around midday for an interview about his freestyling career, before letting his skills do the talking in a pre-match show in front of the Addicks faithful prior to kick-off at 12.30pm.

Shame about the naff backing track though...
Cameron Jerome is currently a medical prior to joining from Luton, given the time you'd think that they've missed the deadline.
With tomorrow, I feel okay about this..its at the point that whilst we may not be favourites, I think with DH at the helm they will work there socks off and make Bolton earn there potential win!
That said....1-0 Charlton (Fraser)
Meanwhile 'Skintgaard' has spent circa £1.6million (going by transfermarkt) on Kirk, DJ, Fraser, Aneke, Lavelle, Schwarz and Gilbey.
This is while Bolton are picking up the likes of Santos from Barnet on a free transfer.
Oh what could have been if our dear owner had even half a bloody clue.
