I loved this and it got me dabbling in a bit of Sheff U flirtation for a year or two. I’d recently met Dave Bassett at a couple of awards presentations, they had Tony Agana up front who used to play for Welling, and they had the greatest football kit in the country, the luminous yellow away shirt. Combining that with getting a first proper insight behind the scenes at a club won over a 14yr old!
My dad took us to see them away to QPR at the time. Strange, feel absolutely nothing for them now but do like the old greasy chip butty song!
This was my favourite programme as a kid. I always imagined myself as a cool flash kid like Ross when I reality I was always more a sensible head like Ricky.
Kids playing 5 a side, they were the 'reject' kids whi could get on another team I think.
Was very daft, deliberately, things like having a kid called Barry pretending to be Italian and calling himself Bruno to try to be fashionable, a keeper with massive thick glasses who couldn't save anything etc.
They had loads of cameos too, I remember Zola and Keown playing as ringers, but Zola just wanted play at the back and boot people up in the air, and Keown kept trying to be a tricky winger.
Think it was called ‘the big game’ where Danny Baker showed Sunday park football matches. sure it was on late Friday nights as remember watching it after getting in from the pub.

The World Cup: A Captain's Tale
Though there wasn't a lot of football in it, really.
Between the chat there is some football.

I second “Inside No 9” episode ‘The Referee’s a Wanker’ - love the show in general and the football one is decent!
