Ryan Inniss, Terell Thomas, Albie Morgan and Tyreece Campbell also start in Lancashire, while Jes Rak-Sakyi, who came off injured on Saturday, is fit enough for the bench.

If the Addicks line-up in a 4-3-3 formation it will mean Sean Clare, Inniss, Michael Hector and Thomas will make up a back four in front of goalkeeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer.

Lucas Ness misses out having picked up a patella tendon injury at the weekend and will see a specialist next week.

Steven Sessegnon misses out with knee swelling, meaning there is a place on the bench for the returning Mandela Egbo

Fraser and Morgan join skipper George Dobson in a midfield three behind attacking trio Campbell, Miles Leaburn and Corey Blackett-Taylor.

Rak-Sakyi and Egbo are joined on the bench by Joe Wollacott, Aaron Henry, Jack Payne, Macauley Bonne and Dan Kanu.

Charlton: Maynard-Brewer; Clare, Inniss, Hector, Thomas; Morgan, Dobson (c), Fraser; Campbell, Leaburn, Blackett-Taylor

Substitutes: Wollacott, Egbo, Henry, Payne, Rak-Sakyi, Bonne, Kanu

Terrell Thomas playing left back in a back 4 is absolutely insane

Thanks @eastterrace6168. That suggests 433 with Thomas at left back, but maybe it's 352 with Clare and CBT as wing backs?

That’s a 3-5-2 surely CBT up top with Leaburn. Clare and Campbell down the wings?

    Think ONS says 4-3-3.

Bold if so to play Thomas at LB.

a 4 4 2 or 4 3 3  with Thomas at left back ? .. very strange, though we don't have any real alternative .. otherwise this is an attacking line up .. come on you Addicksssaaah

That team is very weak but the best we can put out. Going to have to work really hard tonight but still believe 0-2 to us.

Who the heck is playing LB of LWB?

It's certainly not Penney who once again shows that going cheap = a waste of money, not a bargain!

We brought in a left back called Penney  - why isnt he playing?

Top goal scorer on the bench.

And would be madness to play CBT up top

Reverse psychology - we'll win this one.

Terry Thomas’s first start of 2023. His last start was away at Oxford when he was substituted at halftime in a 3-1 away defeat in December.

OK, my laptop is playing silly buggers, so we'll have to see how it goes with the commentary.

Fair play to Captain Dobbo making the trek up North as a new Dad, could have easily taken paternity leave.

To be fair most combinations and permutations look weak this season.

Why not start Egbo at right back? See how he does and sub if you need to later. We’d start more balanced then.

If Thomas is at left back I'd like Holden to be asked why Penney isn't involved. Hopefully he'd give an honest answer.

Being as he is not fully fit, and coming back from the second of two quiet substantial injuries - I feel like being on the pitch when the game is at it's most intense is not going to be beneficial for either him nor us at this time.

Well its obvious isnt it... Most of CharltonLife have travelled up there ;)
  • That back four is so bad! If we keep a clean sheet it will be a miracle.
