Really pleased for Morgan who I truly hope can press on and cement a place. Chuffed for Leaburn who we must keep by all means possible and then buy someone really quick to work with him as losing Raky will cause a major headache especially if no money is put in by whoever turns up.

All in all though I'm really pleased for all the fans who turned up and have endured an awful lot this season.

Finally I think Dean Holden deserves a lot of credit, it couldn't have been easy walking into this club with promises a plenty, then to be let down, deserted by most of the last takeover mob but still he managed to drive us forward and  winning again. We must keep him as this incessant manager revolving door has to stop. Onwards and upwards. Coyr.

The only negative of a win like this is that our dear owner might think if he juuuuuust holds on two more seasons we can make it to the Premier League.

We looked like a team that has had a really good week on the training ground, as there was a clear pattern of play, and the players were far more in tune with their teammates.

What a fantastic feeling.  I'm absolutely buzzing. Can't wait to watch the highlights programme tonight. Some great performances out there today. Everyone looked good, even the subs. I so wanted Leaburn to get a hattrick, I'm sure he'll get lots in his career,  but fear time might be running out for one with us.

Perhaps DH was right telling AM that he will give him a run of games, helps gives him confidence
    Yep, I think that's great man-management.

Obviously you can't do that with each and every player, but horses for courses and all that, if he thinks it could be the making of Albie to play without pressure and fear of making a mistake, and it gets the performances he's looking for, then that's smart by Holden.

It's often been said that Albie dazzles on the training ground, if only he could transfer that self-belief consistently to his match day performances.

Shrewsbury completely fell apart in the second half but they were not terrible at all in the first half and we looked excellent.

What happened?? Same players, same formation but everyone was on it and the midfield in particular were excellent. Thomas had a very good game at left back as well.

In a season that will largely remembered for the wrong reasons, it’s great to have a game like that to enjoy.
I mis read this and thought you said Shrewsbury looked excellent.

One swallow doesn't a summer make. Whilst hoping we have a good run in to the end of the season I just hope that some players aren't rewarded for a few good performances by getting new contracts they don't deserve. If so we'll end up keeping most of those out of contract and then next season having the same debate about are they good enough and why did they get a new contract when they have reverted to type. Would like to see Aaron Henry get a run of games to show what he's made of.

Great afternoon - Shrewsbury players gradually lost it. The ref was shocking.

We knocked the ball around with a lot of confidence and remembered how to finish.

I expected a much less convincing win than that .. Holden has got his selections and tactics just right and the players look very together and are playing for one another .. in this topsy turvey division, who knows, the play offs are still a possibility .. good chance that the Ipswich game will be a right humdinger !! .. let's hope so

A shame that other one was offside, seven would’ve been fantastic.

Not for a minute suggesting Albie was the best on the pitch, he wasn't.

I just post these to show the statistically developed ratings.

Pleasant shock to come back home to a 6-0 win! 17 points above the bottom 4 now.

It was noticeable that Holden was doing some man-management with Albie as he walked off the pitch. Probably trying to get him to take in the positivity and build his confidence. What a game!

Pressing game absolutely on fire today. Let's see more of that from now on. The case for Fraser and Morgan grows more compelling....
Morgan hadn't put a touch right until he scored.

Great performance and result, some devastating attacking, but their goalkeeper wow.
  • All probably going to be said about the game so just a couple of points from me.

I thought young Mitchell looked so composed for a 17(?) year old. He could be the next one of the conveyor belt. I hope he gets a couple of starts before the end of the season.

Like wise Aaron Henry. That was a really good display for 30 minutes. There's a talent there. I just wonder whether he will sign or a new contract or try his luck elsewhere.

Talking of new contracts, I think it is looking almost certain that Morgan and Thomas are going to get new deals. The fact Holden is playing both speaks volume. Clare presumably will be offered something.

Can only hope that Hector is offered something and is willing to sign. He just looks so comfortable at this level. And he is even making Inniss look good!

As for Bonne, who knows! Certainly all his team mates looked really pleased for him when he scored. And Holden spoke well of him in his post match interview. There couldn't be a contract offer for him as well, could there?

The too little too late mob turn up for contract time.

Don't get me wrong, superb performance all over the pitch, well done lads but WE have spent too many post matches wondering why this lot cannot put a shift in, in this God forsaken pony league over the years.

Maybe Holden is the man, maybe this is a turning point in our fortunes, I dunno? Just happy tonight.

    Up the Addicks!
Holden has been hnting and sometimes even saying, that players are playing for their futures in his next season plans.
He's obviously told them what he's planning to do next season and told them to prove to him they want to be included in his plans.

And that doesn't just apply to the players out of contract.
He proved by moving Stockley out that if players are not doing it he'll jog them on.

let's hope that he isn't lulled into a false sense of security. The failings of this season (and last) have to be dealt with. We can't risk another season like the last two. Holden has to be callous in his cull.

They played well in the first-half without really troubling us. Tough second-half when you start three down.

Posted on the match thread but doesn’t that look good
I have never seen us score 7 at the Valley only 6, so for that reason, Holden out 😂😂😂😂.

I was at the 6-1 friendly in 2017 v Ipswich, which also featured a goal from a free kick (by Holmes). First time Ive seen us score 6 in a competitive game though!

well I enjoyed that. My son is off to college in the US this summer so only a few more games to enjoy with him for a few years, we’ve been going together since he was 3. Nice to walk out the Valley for once with a spring in our step. Not sure I’ll get a season ticket on my own next year so hope to have a few more performances like that before the end of the season.

Leaburn and Raksaki, take a bow. Dobson and Fraser excellent and I thought Mitchell and Henry looked very good when they came on. We really need some investment to bring in 5 good players and we’ll compete near the top of this division. How Shrewsbury are above us in the table is ridiculous and shows how poor we’ve performed overall this season.

    great performance though!
Lovely post Nug - what it's all about.
