  • I don't know why Cole Stockton has been not scoring as freely as he did last season (injury or personal problems or maybe not getting on with the manager) but he absolutely bullied our defence , and put in a masterclass performance, when you can't even sign a player from Morecombe , you know there's something wrong with your recruitment.

Too be fair , he might be happy up there, and not want to come down south, but i'd still love to have him here next season.
Yes, wasn't it him who bullied Gunter when he played centre back in a game at their place? I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Charlton shirt.

Notice that Adam Phillips and Greg Leigh got a combined ten assists for them last season

The former was only on loan from Burnley, yet signed permanently for Barnsley in the summer, he's got eight assists and eleven goals to his name this season - Greg Leigh on the other hand signed for Ipswich as he was out of contract in the summer, and has barely played for them.

Only stats of course, but probably numbers they've not been able to replicate this season

42-goals this season vs 57-goals last season as a club
  • I'll say this and get my coat. Stockton's qualities are ones that we are missing.
  • Just a general observation to add alongside the rest of the criticism of the current squad.

Like anyone, I like to see young players coming through from the academy into the first team squad. But in virtually every game we are playing 4-5 young guns in the starting 11 with another 3-4 on the bench. I know this is often out of necessity due to injuries or lack of a balanced squad but I do think we need a better balance of experience to get out of this division. I guess it all comes back to TS's desire to balance the books.
  • What happened with yesterdays crossbar challenge , what was the attempt like and how much is the pot up to ?

Skied it like almost everyone else of late. That orange ball they're using is lighter than standard I think, so everyone's overclubbing it. Well sneaky if you ask me. Pot is vast
  • 9k but it was a decent effort yeserday.
  • It matches our transfer kitty 9.5k next time . Good effort missed by a foot or so

To be fair, some of the attempts have been pea grubbers as well  :D
  • Hector has turned into a classic ball watching defender. Never seems to be aware of the players around him these days and seems to have lost the ability to read the game. Just count the amount of tap-ins there have been against us in recent games, players completely unmarked. This goes for many of the other lightweights playing for us. The Ipswich game is a special one, you have 7 or 8 players watching the ball on most of those goals, look at them again and prove me wrong.

From those who physically can't kick a football. Anyone who can actually play a bit is hitting the Covered End

Rak Sakyi's goal saved the players from being booed off at half time.
But I must admit I was expecting the crowd to turn hostile when we went 3-1 down.
I was surprised how subdued  the atmosphere was and I couldn't work out whether it was because it was a meaningless (to us) end of season game or whether we have become so conditioned to being let down that all the passion has drained out of us.
Screw the game we were shit, but I found the air of resignation and demoralisation quite worrying.
After we scored our second my son and I remained seated - possibly for the first time in living memory.  (This was us turning hostile :#

I guess we shared that mutual gut feeling that it wouldn't be enough - it would be a consolation goal only.

Gut feelings are not always right, but they are in the vast majority of cases.

In our home games against the current bottom 6 we have 4 points out of 18
I couldn’t even be bothered to cheer the goals. Blatantly obvious to me we were going through the motions as a team.

So that accounts for all the shit on show..😉
  • Henry had a rough time yesterday, but so did some far more experienced players. Just a reminder that he’s 19 and has had two League starts in his career. It might be a bit premature to decide he has no future?

Generally yesterday’s performance was an unprofessional disgrace and Dean Holden has to take some responsibility alongside the players.
Henry  had a mixed bag of good and bad passes. Totally agree that many of the comments on here are unbalanced considering his age and lack of 1st team experience. Leaburn also couldn't take the heat, was beaten to the ball by their centre half , flicked the ball on occasionally to nobody or it just went over his head. One cross hit him on the head right in  front of goal. But he is also young and and it's a learning experience for him , and he's done well to score so many in his first season. This is what you get when you play younger players (which many fans called for a few weeks ago).
Everyones disappointed by this result, but come on there are very few Conor Galaghers and Michael Owens. Give them a break.

Didn't watch it (had a day in Whitstable instead). Seen the goals. Dear oh dear. Great strike from Stockton, but it was gifted to him. Appalling defending for the other two and AMB did not cover himself in glory either.

Can't see myself watching either of the last two games. I am unlikely to renew my CAFCTV subscription let alone buy a season ticket.

Watching this shower of shit go through the motions and show the same total naivety when defending week after week is not only boring it's pointless.

I get no enjoyment from all things CAFC and haven't for months.

Shit owner, shit players and a total shit house of a league.

    I'm out!

As I sat there at The Valley yesterday my mind started to wander. So much so, that I was beginning feel that I knew exactly what a match day experience must be like for Michael Hector. I found myself thinking about a rather cruel psychological experiment where chickens were fitted with eyeglasses containing prism shaped lenses. These lenses bent the light coming into the chickens' eyes so that everything looked like it was off to one side. The poor hens could not eat because whenever they pecked for their food, they pecked in the wrong place. They never adapted and their weight loss was used as a measure of this horrible experiment's success. In follow up experiments it was found that when fitted with similar lenses, human subjects would slowly adapt until their ability to locate objects was fully restored. The rub, however, was that when the lenses were removed the humans took time for their original vision to be restored. As I sat there watching pass after pass going to blue shirts, I couldn't help but wonder whether our players had just had their lenses fitted, or just had them taken off. Maybe their eyesight was yet to recover from a mid-week Milton Keynes sojourn in that horrible cobalt kit.

What a completely woeful performance from the whole team. I'm sorry to say though that it was the normally-better players who let us down worst. George Dobson, my tip for Player of the Season, was appalling. It was as if red shirts were completely invisible to him, such was his success at finding a blue player every time. Many others have argued the Rak-Sakyi should be player of the season, aside from one atypical goal poacher's tap-in, his contribution was appalling. He looked like the best kid on a school team who doesn't want to play for the school team anymore. His indolent display resulted in ball after ball going into touch as he refused to chase anything other than the perfect pass. And as we've already ascertained, the perfect pass was never going to happen with our team. Miles Leaburn, so young, so dangerous, so-so on yesterday's performance. Looked like he was having a lovely little reverie about how he might spend the Villa millions. Michael Hector the once calming influence on our defence seems to have morphed into someone who works more with his arms than his legs. Standing around watching balls all around him, while constantly waving his arms at the ref. It's as if he thinks asking someone else to do their job is a substitute for doing his own. Ashley Maynard Brewer, for a much of the season a dependable shot stopper; I'm not sure he's saved one at all since his brother appeared on Charlton TV bigging him up. As for the rest, well we already knew they weren't good enough. On yesterday's evidence we need a total clear out, not a partial one.

The highlight of the day for me wasn't on the pitch. Something caught my eye in the gents bogs that interested me to the point where I got my camera out. Well played whoever did this.

That sticker is the work of Dodger and his lot… great work though!
  • That was a very poor performance, even though we only narrowly lost in the end.

Thank goodness that Cole Stockton is so crap! 😯

There was some stamp about Albie Morgan stalking people  everywhere as well?

    Very odd.

  • Awful unprofessional performance with most of the team already on the beach.  I suspect the usual suspects have worked out that it is not worth playing for contracts as Holden has already made his decisions in that regard.
  • What happened with yesterdays crossbar challenge , what was the attempt like and how much is the pot up to ?
Something else that needs to be got rid of.  How about a penalties competition between local kids teams with £500 going to the winners.

All of them gone next year , fkin awful
AMB is an ordinary keeper imo and as with 99% of anyone that comes out of our academy is overhyped and plays a lot and is one of many reasons why our continued flirting with third tier midtable wankness continues .
Give me ten decent mercenaries who can get us out of this shithouse rather than ooooh he’s a Charlton player , he gets us , fuck off , load of cliche shit .
I fear next year it could get worse when the only player guaranteed to have a career in the championship or above goes back to his cnuting club .
my hatred of this lot knows no bounds
The worst footballing period ever coinciding with our neighbours best .
gutless cnuts , fcuk em all off
    ordinary
will be renewing our six season tickets shortly 🥴
It's worse than drug addiction isn't it. A type of self abuse 🤯
See you all against Port Vale.
  • Hate to dig individual players out by that build up to Stockton terrible miss in the first half was Sunday league like play by Dobson.

Miss controls the pass back and walks back the 15 yards to retreat the ball, then slowly brings the ball out and make a pathetic 10 yard pass which gets cut out and they end up with a 3 on 2 attack. The failed interception by Thomas was also pathetic. That 30 seconds was an embarrassment to our history. Utter disgrace.
  • £15 for a home shirt was the highlight for me.
That'll buy a player next season.
  • Just seen the first goal again and have to say AMB positioning is shocking .. two goals down to him
  • Just seen the first goal again and have to say AMB positioning is shocking .. two goals down to him
It was unstoppable...didn't matter who was in goal, that was in, and we just have to appreciate it was good, imagine if it was Leaburn, we'd all be drooling over it, so can't agree on that one...second...was a cock up between with him and Hector...🤷‍♂️
  • This leaflet was being circulated around the ground pre match. Any truth in it? If so, maybe some of the players saw it, hence the lack of effort.

BTW for all the excusers/apologists/sympathisers on here, I have it on good authority A&Eke booked a holiday the day after his latest injury.
