I think Lineker, Irvine, Logan, Murray and Chapman are excellent. I want to like Alex Scott as she comes across as a lovely person but she’s a poor presenter and her voice/accent annoy me. McCoist and Woods are great. Can’t stand Carragher and Richards whose buffoonery is incredibly annoying. I quite like Murphy as a pundit despite himself. Jenas is too up himself. Of the newer breed I could listen to Jill Scott all day and I hope we see more of Nedum Onuoha who is articulate, calm and intelligent. I don’t mind Shearer and Wrighty and quite like Keane and Neville as pantomime villains. I’ll miss Souness. I switch off at the mere mention of Clinton Morrison. Nick Dougherty on Sky golf is great as are Sarah Stirk, Rich Beem and Radar. I don’t like listening to Coltart as he pronounces all his “t”s as “d”s. (“Great pudd from Lee”. Arghh and McGinley needs to be put out to grass. Dame Laura is incredibly boring. Faldo is surprisingly good.

Forgot about Gabby Logan - she works well across different sports. Best dressed presenter in my opinion!
Jeff Stelling as a presenter. I like Mark Chapman too. Don't listen to Laura Woods radio show but on TV she comes across as incredibly wooden so never understood the fuss.
Find her very lightweight and bland as a presenter.
If we're talking about presenters, then of the current ones it would be Mark Chapman. The role of the presenter is to ask the questions the public would want to be asked, and to bring out the best from the guests. And to make it look effortless.
Alex Scott is a much better pundit than presenter, I don't understand why she doesn't just stick with what she's good at.
Presenter: still think Lineker takes some beating.
Pundits: Alex Scott, McCoist, Aluko and Pat Nevin
McCoist, Aluko, Nevin fair enough. Scott?? Complete inability to communicate and present what might be good knowledge. Lineker wasn't great when he started but he developed quickly. Scott is still struggling after several years.
As a pundit. Agree that presenting isn’t her biggest strength, but she’s a good pundit.
Pundit wise there are none better than Tim Vickery. You won’t find him doing Premier League coverage typically, as he specialises in South American football. Though he is on the BBC World Football Phone-In on a weekly basis.
Any time you spend listening to him talk about the overall culture of the game on a global level is an education session. If you want to learn about history and societal issues through the prism of football, then he’ll do that in a way that is understandable and informative. However, he will also be able to dissect a game and report the key issues without cliche.
He has had a major influence on the way I think about and enjoy Football, on many different levels.
lots of bbc presenters mentioned here. Goes to show what great value the license fee gives us.
It also shows the relative weakness Sky have in terms of presenters, as opposed to pundits. Once Jeff Stelling retires, they won't have anyone especially notable, it does feel that they see presenters just as people to do the introductions and facilitate the star pundits to do their stuff

You can see the difference now, especially when Hugh Woozencroft presents the show. He's competent enough presenter, but doesn't seem to have the involvement with the EFL clubs that Murray had. Murray would check out the message boards to see what the fans thought.
sitting outside a cafe with a half eaten ice cream and a mug of coffee holding up the pink italian sports paper whilst a waiter serves some people in the background. Magical period for TV sport. Plus having the late great Peter Brackley as commentator.

football italia was incredible. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL-ACCIO!!!

Sure I read once that he didn't even really like football, Channel 4 just needed an Italian speaking presenter and he was out there with his Italian girlfriend
Colin Murray is fantastic on Fighting Talk , will be sad when he leaves at the end of the season and I don't know how they're going to replace him
It's years since I listened to Fighting Talk. He was certainly good when I used to listen. Also liked him doing the Football League Show or whatever it was called.
Another vote here for Boulting and the itv cyclists.
Yes, James Richardson is the all time best "Berlesconi missed Milans game due to heart surgery - he's having one installed".
I like Mark Chapman, he reminds of a good holding midfielder who wins the ball and moves it on to others who do the fancy stuff. Underrated but essential.

I'm a big fan of the whole ITV cycling coverage, especially Ned Boulting, but he's more of a commentator I suppose so I'll chuck Gary Imlach in as an alternative.

Close the thread - nobody else comes close to those 4

Lineker is good but can come across a bit smug
As a pundit/co-commentator on the radio , Fara Williams is very good
