With some of the dramas I watch on anywhere other than BBC I will record or freeze the TV and start watching later so I can speed through the adverts on x6 or each click is 60 seconds forward.
You watch on the Catch-ups and you can fast forward but adverts will normally still jump in.

I'm fortunate that my wife mainly watches 24 hours in A+E or mountain rescue type programmes and is happy to watch that upstairs while I hog the main TV.

Has there ever been a series of adverts as unmitigatedly crap as the Curry's adverts?, especially when they apparently seem to think they are hilarious.
really hate that one with the greasy bloke and the gondola.

Don't know if any of you seniors or middle aged folk got to see Peter Kaye over the last couple of years but I went with my son to the 02 and the adverts from the last century (60's onwards) like the Milky bar kid, Id like to teach the world to sing, Jacob's club, and a myriad of others were sang by Peter and the audience. My son who was just 30 didn't know any of the adverts.
So are the adverts just rubbish now or we just older and like to complain 🤔

Most of the men in the audience and Peter Kay had the Chocolate flake as their favourite advert for aesthetic reasons !

I think that there's usually a handful good ones, but over time the vast majority have always been junk. I think we've become a lot more jaded and difficult to please now though.

I hate hearing the first notes of some soft tinkering piano as it normally means another attempt to extract money from you using emotional blackmail is incoming (cue person sitting with empty mug in their hand looking sad, or showing some poor animal, or looking at a field hospital, or people filling up water from a pond, or discussing eye infections/ cleft palettes/ GM/ discussing funeral plans (its so respectful), or whatever else is wrong with the world that has happened because you haven't stumped up yet.

Alternatively as soon as you hear some patriotic vaguely Royal music forewarning that some out of work newsreader is going to try and get you to stump up for some unique coin celebrating some trumped up historic event, issued in Tristran de Cunha, that is smaller than a 5p piece and as thin as a wafer but is 99.9% proof and will only cost you £99 (and be worthless tomorrow).

Or a bunch of happy people chatting, driving around in vans, smashing garden displays, laughing inanely all because of poxy Bingo- which is the world's most boring game.

...I think I might just be watching too much daytime tv.

Every an Any Bingo advert, where there is always some weird fecking dancing. What’s has dancing got to do with bloody Bingo……

  • The radio advert on the radio that goes"didn't work , lock didn't work , some people have seen me on the bog...didn't work " I don't think it's advertising a locksmith , got a feeling it's
    surprisingly a gambling ad . I haven't a clue WHY ??? Can someone enlighten me ?

I'm quite sanguine about the Haribo ones. I can see the potential for annoyance, but it just doesn't get to me. I think because the ads very cleverly match the product, unlike Bingo/Dancing (see above). It does annoy me that there's two or three other orgs that have used similar formats and it just doesn't fit.

The ad that annoys me most at the moment is the Vintage Cash Cow one where a load of trashy text is read out as if it's a poem and 'no problemo' is made to rhyme with 'all in one go'. It is so appalling it makes me want to box up a load of vintage cow shit to send to them.

For some reason this character on the LNER ads annoys me.

  • The Bingo ads are annoying banging on about a 'comunity'. What community? People are sitting alone indoors fingering their phones.

well after they say that, the tune in the background sings something like 'we can't fix that, but our betting app is actually pretty good. Midnite. Built different'
