Think the difference between Casey & Mbick is that the latter is more physically ready which is why we've seen more of him. Casey has a very slight build.
It's similar in many ways to Kanu - who likewise had a clear goalscoring ability but questions about his physicality relative to senior level games.

Hopefully it will continue to be similar and Casey can also add a bit of muscle and stature to improve his all round game, as Kanu did.

They played very well together for the under 18s last Saturday. Whilst Casey is small he is muscular and made a mug of a much bigger Watford defender who ended up on the ground. He scored with great header from a cross from M'Bick.

Brighton can have him if they give us Ferguson in exchange.

Leave him be. His progress so far has been good, it doesn’t need spoiling.
Anyway all aspects of his game are indifferent apart from the ability to score shedloads of goals 😉
  • Casey is the stereotypical poacher.  Not very fast, doesn’t hold the ball up well but knows how to find space and finish.  That’s why he goes long stretches where he is invisible but then somehow ends up scoring two. It is really hard to evaluate kids who fit this mold as many dont step up well to league football, some do and then you have someone like Alfie who it took until his late 20s to succeed. He clearly has talent so you hang on to him until you feel fairly certain he will or won’t be playing in the main squad which probably won’t be for another couple years

U21s striker Patrick Casey has joined National League South side Dorking Wanderers on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.

  • Good news. I hope it goes better than his first loan and he can bang some goals in and make a bit of a name for himself there.

He looks a cut above at this level. The goal he scored on his debut was a proper goalscorer’s touch and finish. Came off the bench today and looked like he might be the match winner.

Nice. Hard to get that excited about this when we have two loanees banging goals 2 tiers above him though

Thinking of going to the Tonbridge Angels v DW match on January 3rd as we don't have a game.

I feel there will only be the very bravest souls at Ewood on the 4th to where this is no match day train available

I know what you mean but he does seem very slight yet with a great goal record behind him so if he can bulk up and get used to mens football then who knows.

20 years old and in the 6th tier of English football not sure he’s gonna be with us for too much longer but can still definitely have a decent career in the future
