Thought we were very fortunate to keep a clean sheet today, given some of the pretty clear sights on goal that we have up.

Today’s clean sheet wasn’t down to our defending, it was due to poor finishing

He can sign a pre-contract with a team outside of England in a couple of weeks time. Wonder if his agent has any contacts in Hungary?

Spot on. At least 3 times we left men completely unmarked in our box who fluffed their chances.
  • Have to get him signed up to a new deal ASAP
I think he'll be sold in January, its what we do.
Same, sadly - same as CBT (and the early sale attempt of Dobson) last January.

12 starts, 7 clean sheets. (Wigan, Orient, Bolton, Shrewsbury, Birmingham, Lincoln, Mansfield)

7 games without him, 1 clean sheet. (Burton)
    13 starts, 8 clean sheets

(Last two don’t count because Mansfield’s strikers are shit and Northampton’s whole team is shit)

For me player of the year. The whole team is more solid with him playing.

He had an up and down season last year, but we’re seeing what he’s really capable of as part of a team who are much better defensively.

Yep. It cannot be a coincidence that we’ve kept 3 clean sheets in a row with him back in the team.

It's good that we have a genuinely strong defence when he's leading it but still worrying just how dependant on him that back 4 is.

He's very good but he can't do it alone.

  • Give him decent contract, lose him and we go backwards, best we've had for a few years at the valley!

    Played 15
    Wins 8
    Draws 3
    Losses 4
    Conceded 11
    GA/G 0.73
    Win Rate 53%

So nearly another clean sheet but for a brief moment of quality from Kone who looked a dangerous player.

Eating a huge slice of humble pie with Jones, never saw this type of player in him last season, but he has been very very good this season. Keep him fit, you never know!!
  • Apparently Wrexham are after him now…

Well he can sign a pre-contract with foreign clubs from next week
  • We desperately need to keep him, I've no idea how contract negotiations are going, but with every game he plays, his worth increases.

I'm not comparing him to Rodri obviously, but Rodri's worth has been proven by how bad City have been without him, and the same difference can be seen in our defence with and without Jones.

You reckon City are going to make a bid?

Wrexham don’t spend big money on players and he is pretty priceless to the team at the moment anyway.
  • Would be madness to lose him but sadly might happen given some of our crazy negotiations.

It would be a massive signal from the owners that they are not very ambitious if they flog him. ATM we have a decent shot at promotion without him we have none as we won’t replace him with anyone equal in January

Apparently all bids thus far, including 2 from championship teams, have been rejected. One fan saying 750k rejected from Wycombe.

Imperative that we try to keep him - different side when he plays.
  • If we are turning down bids from Championship clubs you would think the chances of him signing another contract with us in L1 are next to zero as he will.leave for free in the summer.
Back to hoping we find a way to improve in the January window, get in the play offs and win them as him, Leaburn and Small are 3 players who can step up to the Championship and all will be gone if we don't go up.
