  • Decent player that's never quite hit the heights they expected of him at Barca.
  • Blimey that’s a wild one for Brighton.
  • I laughed because from what we know, Levy has spent the last 48-72hrs negotiating for him with Barca, Ange even spoke to him on Zoom for an hour but we were pushing for an option to buy but Barca didnt want to let him go.  He's not hit the heights since 9 months out with a torn meniscus. Barca want him rehabilitated.
  • Will he play alongside Mitoma? They both play on the left usually right? Or are they selling him (probably to Chelsea) and Fati is the replacement

Thought he can play either wing, saw him as a right winger so surely one of them will go to the other side.

They'll probably just rotate players more. Remember they're in Europe now so will have a lot more games and Mitoma can't play every single game. Adingra is also another promising young winger they've got.

he can play anywhere across the front, two footed, left, right, inside forward, false 9, the lot.
he played on the right when he came on against Spurs in a pre-season friendly a few weeks back.
  • The new added-time rules in English football are "absurd" and will not be used in European competitions, according to Uefa's chief of football Zvonimir Boban.

England's refereeing body the PGMOL has opted to use longer amounts of stoppage time from this season in order to reduce time-wasting and better account for goal celebrations, substitutions and injuries.

But some players and managers have criticised the move on player welfare grounds.

"It's absolutely absurd," said Boban, who captained Croatia's famous 1998 World Cup team to a third-place finish.

"Regarding player welfare, it's some kind of big tragedy because they are adding almost 12, 13, 14 minutes."

Matches in England have often been running beyond 100 minutes since the start of the new campaign.

"When you play 60, 65 minutes - I can speak from my experience, especially as a midfielder - when you get tired, it's the last 30 minutes of the game. And then somebody comes and adds another 15 minutes," said Boban.

"How often we have spoken critically about the calendar and too many games. We are not listening to players and coaches [about welfare]. It's crazy! It's too much, so we will not do this. Our guidelines are different."

Uefa's chief refereeing officer Roberto Rosetti backed Boban's comments and added that European football's governing body had been working for five years on other solutions to increase the amount of time the ball is in play.

  • Seeing as the long added time is only added on of there's lengthy stoppages and breaks in play, I can't see how they can claim they're having to play an extra 15 mins of football, when it's only added on because they haven't been playing in that time.

Are we still getting lengthy amounts of stoppage time?

Last few Charlton games, its felt that games have been 5-7mins at the end.

Feels like players are quickly learning the lesson.

Same with Yellow Cards being handed out for timewasting, unless Referees are getting more lenient (wouldnt surprise me) - Its another problem we're seeing disappear compared with a few weeks ago.

But it is extra time because that wasn’t added on in previous seasons.

Of which barely half of it is actually active football. It shouldn't make much difference to athletes who are meant to be in peak physical fitness

Plus there's 5 subs now instead of the 3 (or fewer) in the past, and larger squads. I don't think players have a right to complain about what is in reality maybe 2-5 minutes of extra actual football each half when the players with the most physically demanding rolls will only be playing an average of 75 mins per game, 30-40 times per season.

I think the issue is more that the stoppages are no more than in previous seasons (aside from increased subs from 3-5), but now instead of a typical 1 minute added on first half and 4 minutes second half, you're seeing 3 minutes first half and 7/8/9 second half).

It's obviously not an issue for a club like us, but 11-12 minutes added on per game over a season for a club like Man City playing 60+ games is the equivalent of an extra 7-8 full matches. On top of that from next year teams have more games due to the increased champions league, a 32 team increased club world cup in 2025, a 48 country increased world cup in 2026.

It's never ending, and whilst the average fan won't care much for players moaning when they earn 300k+ a week, i can certainly see why the players are objecting as eventually it will only lead to fatigue and more injuries.
  • As someone said before though, you have bigger squads, better fitness tracking and data and 5 subs to utilise every game now.

Oh and if they don't like it that much here's an idea, stop fucking timewasting and pissing about when getting subbed on and off and they won't add 10 mins on will they.

Exactly my thoughts, people who think he's there to make the squad bigger and give Mitoma a rest lol can see him playing RW & up top , possibly odd LW

Dane Scarlett gone on loan to Ipswich.
Presumably that means one more in at Spurs.  Not Fati mind you lol.

(Because surely Levy isn't going to leave us without a back up striker... oh wait!)

  • Well, technically, Maddison replaced Eriksen and in that time, Eriksen left the country, died, came back to life, returned to the country and changed clubs in the country he returned to.

So, by the time we’ve replaced Kane, reincarnation and reverse aging will have developed enough, so we will probably replace him with Jimmy Greaves!
  • Brennan Johnson still seems a possibility for Spurs.... Guess that will all come down to the last few hours of deadline day
  • Very surprised City have sold Palmer to Chelsea, thought he was supposed to be their next big star.

Probably have a Buy Back Clause... Surprised though as sounded like he'd had a very good Pre-Season, was MOTM in the Super Cup
  • Liverpool have rejected a £150m offer from Ali-Ittihad for Mo Salah

I think they have someone else coming through they rate as good as him and another Foden, i forget his name but he definately has played already maybe more pre season. Does seem silly but when they have such a ridiculous teams it could be good for Palmer, although hope Chelsea dont mess him up.
  • Ooo we just got a mention in the Luton vs West Ham game

"Alfie Doughty's one game against West Ham came for us in the League Cup"
  • Interestingly they are playing him at right wing back tonight, I guess they feel his pace will help against Benrahma, but he can also cut in and shoot from the right too.
  • Really poor from the goalkeeper there
  • I don't like West ham

But after the disgusting song the Luton fans were singing I'm soooo glad Bowen scored and done the shhhh gesture

Sing about players on the pitch fair enough, but don't get personal about family, wives/GF that's below the belt and uncalled for
