TT showed yesterday what he brings. I actually felt like we might score from a set piece!!!!! The players actually looked shocked at the deliveries and maybe if he carries on doing them one of them might try to get on the end of them.

if he disappears back into the back room abyss then that would be one of NJ’s stranger decisions

If/when we play 4-4-2(4222) with the box midfield then Coventry and Taylor can potentially both play but we really can't just have just one way of playing. 
After 11 games it's quite clear we don't have a starting 11 set in stone or just one formation. Playing Birmingham at home or Cambridge could well need different tactics, personnel and formations. 

For CAFC we need 16 players who may get on the pitch to produce because we just don't have the X factor player's this season.

Really is crazy how the fortunes of a Footballer can change in such a short amount of time really. Just two months ago and we were potentially looking to move him on, although even then I dont think there was anyone who'd have been overly impressed had that happened.

No glaring difference, but Coventry has a hell of an engine and can get all around the pitch. On the ball very little difference and Taylor may even be a bit brighter with the forward balls, but off the ball Coventry is probably our best player (Anderson isn't far off)

Actually agree that off the ball Anderson is very good. His work rate and closing down/pestering opposition is almost second to none.. his biggest problem is his ability on the ball… just can’t seem to get that final part of his game figured out yet.. but hopefully with time it will come.

The best penalty taker at the club is M'Bick. Was disappointed that he didn't get on the pitch yesterday.

It might be a  mistaken perception of mine, but I think a confident left footed penalty taker is the ideal.
Something something to do with halves of the brain perceiving something something better accuracy or other signalling to the left side of the body or something.

Gas scored a decent amount of penalties last season. Including one at The Valley.

If Taylor isn't match fit, then that's partially the fault of Jones for underplaying him. He didn't play the EFL Cup game, hasn't played for the U21s and hasn't been on the bench.

Start Taylor and Coventry as the double pivot, the further forward two in the box midfield is the issue for me, neither Docherty nor Anderson have offered enough to warrant starting there, problem being we don't have anyone else who naturally fits.

Would be tempted to play TC in one of those deeper roles, he offers more attacking threat and pace. Would allow us to start Leaburn up top with Godden.

Taylor's looked awful every time I've seen him play alongside another defensive midfielder. Why is pairing him with Coventry going to work when it fell so flat with Dobson last season?

Because Dobson and CC are very different players and we would be playing a very different system with a different manager

They look like the two most technically gifted midfielders at the club, and Coventry has proven he can be our anchor, they should both start next game, not a case of one or the other. Well fingers crossed, you'd like to think he can play twice a week. 

Problem is now, we are a few injuries away from having a really depleted squad. Might be risky playing Taylor so much after a return as you say.

Oh no I totally got that, was just genuinely curious! I do also think there's a valid point that Anderson needs to get more potent in front of goal but he's 19, he's got plenty of time

I didn't hate Pratley and thought he had many good games for us, especially at centre-back. But he was so wasteful on the ball, we would always cede control with him on the pitch. There's a reason he got subbed off in the play-off final - having done his job and kept us relatively stable defensively, he wasn't needed when we looked to get on top

Anderson is in a similar disruptor mould, but playing slightly further forward, so his brand of chaos tends to occur nearer the opposition penalty area, which is preferable as second balls can result in chances for us

The main issue with Anderson is, I have rarely seen a central midfielder so uncomfortable with receiving the ball under pressure. He gives the ball away getting caught in possession far too often. He is a good runner and presses well but technically is a way off the required standard currently. He is young and will improve but shouldn't be starting at this level.

I actually love the Karoy / Pratley comparison. Especially as Pratley started his career playing further forward as well & was a big part of Swansea’s rise up the divisions.

At U18 and U21 level he was very good on the ball, he was a key playmaker for those teams, so it's there but he's yet to show that consistently at senior level.

Obviously, he is playing against older and better opposition and being asked to play a different game than he did before and maybe he'll never be as fluid with his passing as he was when younger but he is still young.

If he has a career similar to Prately, who played mainly in the Championship and a few seasons in the Premier League and is still going strong at 38 or however old he is now, he will have done very well for himself.
