The wall for their free kick must have been too far to the right if AMB had to dive to the top corner of the side the wall was? Or did the fk just curl a few metres.
Nobody fancied following the ball, apart from their hungry player.
These basics are getting so annoying to watch again and again.
Rovers could easily have scored four tonight. We were lucky to not be at least three nil down by the time we got the equaliser. We may be lacking a strike partner for May but what about our defense... Once again we're playing at home and looking like we'll ship goals for fun.
We should have been winning at half time though, all their best chances were in a spell after their goal when the heads went a bit
If we regularly ship two goals at home this season, we're going to need to sign Haaland as May's partner.
We looked decent going forwards down both flanks. Blackett-Taylor and Edun (who is a great acquisition by the way) have struck up a good relationship. Dobson was immense first half. Comparing his performance to Payne is painful. That’s not to say that Payne doesn’t try- he probably tries too hard at times, it’s just he lacks the quality and physicality to be anything more than a bystander.
I think Anderson is a decent prospect but maybe a little naive and telegraphs some of his thoughts. Asiimwe is a good defender and needs to improve his attacking play. Both are improving every game. I expected more from Camara but felt he grew into the game. Same with May who had some decent half chances and one excellent chance that he should be burying. Central defence is a worry. For a fifteen minute period after their first goal we had huge gaps. AMB made some great saves but then an error for their winner. So frustrating. It looks like a threadbare squad is going to be tested again unless there are some quality addition. As an aside, Charlie Kirk spent the whole of the half time ‘warm up’ pissing around acting the clown. He shouldn’t be in the squad again as I don’t think he gives a toss.
Bloody hell Kirk is setting new standards in scapegoating. He doesn’t even come on and still gets pelters.
Great goal by Kanu. May very unlucky, but he really needs to start scoring.
Defense a worry, their positional sense is not good for the 2nd goal, and they should have got tighter. No one tracked the run so they had 2 over on the left.
Basic stuff.
Need to help AMB out for deflected saves. Someone should be running in ahead to clear any spills or make a block.
Have the rich owners any fivers down the back of their Lazyboy sofas? We could do with spending some more money FFS
Having "rich" owners mean nothing if they have deep pockets but short arms
Some defeats leave me a lot more gutted than others and that’s definitely one tonight.
Edun and Camera shoulders above the rest, bar Dobson who this season is head and shoulders above.
We are playing hamstrung without a presence up front but we should still be good enough st home to play around that. It’s all so frustrating.
we are so undercooked for the start of this season it’s unreal, probably why we’ve then picked up so many injuries. We don’t have enough cover for certain positions and we don’t have enough fit players. Asimwe is a great prospect but he has been thrown into back to back competitive men’s football and was running on empty at the end, probably leading to the goal. So many of our players are not match fit and we are now 4 games in

He spent half time pissing about, acting the fool trying to make the others laugh. Barely touched a football. That was in total contrast to Kanu and Taylor who spent the whole time doing a proper warm up. It’s not scapegoating. I was on the fence about him before today but I don’t think that’s acceptable.
Two mid table teams playing out an enjoyable, albeit limited, game of football.
Anderson and Asiimwe are going to be very good players and beyond League One. Right now, they shouldn't be starting every game. I thought Asiimwe was more involved than Anderson, however he does seem to limit us going forward.
CBT and Dobson were their usual selves. No complaints there. Where we'd be without Dobson especially I do not know.
AMB with some decent saves and then what looked like a bit of a howler. Saved us enough previously to not be too harsh on him.
Erin - Had some nice touches and some sloppy ones. Would like to see him really drive forward. Could for a very strong partnership with CBT
Ness and Jones looked OK but nothing spectacular. Limited passing ranges for both. Jones went long to May far too many times for my liking. A lower mid table CB pairing in my opinion.
Camara wasn't as impressive as I thought he'd be. Glimpses of quality followed by some really shoddy stuff. Hopefully he's just getting up to speed.
Payme. Less said the better. Seems to try but just isn't a viable League 1 option.
May - I think it'll work out for him. There's something there. He needs that goal to get him going. Ultimately that miss has cost us a valuable 3 points.
Good finish from Kanu. Kept it low. Looked lively with a good turn of pace. Think he's benefit from a L2 loan if we pull our fingers out and make some signings.
Overall, I wasn't massively impressed with us. Even with 2 or 3 more names in I can't see us pushing much beyond 10th this season. It would take 4/5 strong signings to really give us any chance.
Think some of the criticism of Ness is harsh. Had a great game, cleared one off the line. Think people forget he's less than 30 league games under his belt. Hector and Thomas are not significantly better.
Edun I thought was excellent, at last a proper left back. Dobbo is too good for League One. Jones I thought was solid and a definite upgrade on what has gone before. Camara showed some nice touches, drove forward with the ball, should have shot first half after a mazy run, however does give the ball away a lot. CBT did well, tried to make things happen, bit unlucky a couple of efforts were blocked. May I thought was unlucky with the one that hit the post but from behind the goal I may have thought different.
Asiimwe and Anderson played well but tired after about 70 mins. Both are going to be good players but we can't rely on them week in week out, they are young and will be inconsistent but some definitely be in the matchday squad. Kanu made a difference and made life easier for May. Must start in a two on Saturday.
We are currently hamstrung by the lack of a partner for May. We need to sign two stickers and with Leaburn returning we'd then be ok. Kanu can then go on loan.
All in all a number of positives but even with another three/four signings I still think we will fall short unless they are of real quality and I can't see that happening.
If any team deserved to win then Rovers did. After their first we were lucky not to concede another couple. A defeat was harsh though, Saturday now a must win but they got a decent point away at Blackpool tonight so it won't be easy.
We do I feel have the potential to be a good team, but we need a good striker along side May. we also have far two many injuries which does not help. Payne was appalling tonight and is far too inconsistent and should be on the bench as a substitute.
How do we concede so many chances? You’d forgive it if we were gung ho at the other end and we were having a gamble on outscoring the opposition.
How many chances did Bristol have? Marquis in first half where we were carved open like a kebab outside The Venue, the two goals they scored, Sinclair’s lob, shots blocked on the line.
Bristol would have been out of sight if they’d put away half of their clear cut chances like we did.
Are our attacking players so bad that we need to throw too many forward to try and bumble our way to a chance? Is it a fitness thing with players not being to get back in position?
We need that striker, we all know it. Kanu did well and got a goal, the ball he put away is the sort of service May needs, not balls knocked up to his head or the defenders chest or crosses.
There is a team In ther but there needs to additions to the squad and quick if we are not go be struggling for the playoffs at this stage.
Overall we had probably were slightly the better side, but Rovers could have been 3 up if they took chances and we didn't really create any good chances until later in the game
May looked a lot better when he had Kanu alongside him.
But we are lacking in almost every department to get where we want to be which is top 6. We need a striker or two. A right winger to replace Rak Saki, the defence seems shaky no matter who plays, only one right back in the squad and a midfield which does some good things but ultimately is not good enough
Have to say I haven't been impressed with Kanu the few times I've seen him before he looked very raw and not in a good way, but he looked very sharp when he came on and linked up well with May. Overall the youngsters are performing well and they all look like they will be good players but not sure we're gonna push for promotion with so many in the team right now.
Surprised with the negativity about some of our players - thought everyone played pretty well except Payne who isn’t up to it. If May hits that two inches to the left the narrative on here would be totally different I feel. Just need get the 3 or 4 good signings we are hoping to get and we win games like tonight no problem.
Kanu is 18, if we were doing it properly we shouldn’t really be seeing him feature for another 12-18 months. It worked tonight but a kid who is clearly raw shouldn’t be being into a pressurised situation with such expectations
Too many youngsters playing. Ness getting the blame on here for their winner but by rights he should be plying his trade out on loan somewhere.
Stand-outs for me were Edun, Dobbo & Camara. Jones was steady and CBT would be brilliant if he could cross (like he did for Dobbo's goal against Orient).
May just needs one to hit his backside & go in. Once he scores he'll be fine. But why did he take that free-kick - I thought Taylor was the dead ball specialist.
And if you think I'm bad you should have shared the journey home with my son. He thinks we should cut up May's contract & send him packing !!
Bristol Rovers are not a promotion side and neither are we.
The new owners have had plenty of time to pontificate, now they need to put their hand in their pocket(s) and produce a squad that is genuinely capable of promotion - otherwise there is no point. We're already six points down, the time for action is now!

Rovers we're not in the game AMB was a by -stander first half ,only when we went 442 they started hitting long balls and breaking quickly .. which caused us a couple of problems

Probably says a lot though that in a game we're chasing, with only 2 attacking players on the bench, he doesn't come on.
I see that because McGrandles is not playing, Payne is the new boo boy. Always has to be one at the club.
He may not be the best, but at least he is trying to make things happen and is a "trier". If you think of the show ponies we have had recently, I'd rather him.
Plus he is far more mobile than oil tanker Fraser.

Hoofing the ball up to May makes no sense.
