  • What's wrong with Dan Cowley? 754 games managed, 379 wins, 175 draws, 200 losses. 50% win rate overall

Latest gig at Pompey: 97 games, 42 wins, 27 draws and 28 losses.

He's vastly more experienced than Dean Holden and more likely to get us out of the league than some of the names mentioned. Pompey fans will probably give pelters but they've still managed 4 draws this season without him.

I actually like the sound of that, at the very least we won't be lingering at the bottom of the table
  • I'm getting messages from Sunderland people I spoke to this year. Even they cannot believe it is unravelling so fast.
Fifty notes we're looking good end September 😎

Stop grandstanding and put your money on CAFC failure

Look to the future, never the present.  Your sole tactic to avoid all the current s*** shoes at the time, and now of course.

Bowyer being appointed would show a lack of ambition.
And the completely polarised views at the mere rumour of his return say it all about how well he would unite the club……..

If Bowyer is the limit of ambition then that’s disappointing
I'm not sure that people on this site do represent the views of the average supporter. On the positive side a lot  are well informed on club history etc, on the other....

Who put up the message on here to say ‘they had a text’ and caused this kerfuffle?
    @Chippycafc
Just passing on a message I received... Glad to listen to others without scoffing. I will ignore the childish nonsense said since. XX
I feel the pain, you pass on what you are told, and people dig at you! Sometimes, best to say nothing.. Few on this forum have an agenda as one person keeps telling me I have!

It is as toxic on here, as it is in the club

Richardson feels like the sensible pick - got Wigan out of this league as champions and worked under their weird Bahraini owners. Didn't realise he was sacked 2 weeks after signing a 3 year extension 😳

No one I've seen talk about them has ever had a bad word to say about the Cowley's as people but I just find their style of play incredibly dour.

Yes, they played some decent football as well..

A clamour for Bowyer and even considering Cowley or a return for Robinson makes me wonder if we deserve what we’re getting at the moment.
I know expectations are set to low, but really?!

We’re nearly bottom of league 2 with a poor squad and no manager at the end of August. It would be odd if expectations were sky high . I do wonder who you might prefer ?

Have to remember Holden came out of nowhere so wouldn’t be surprised if that happens this time too. Those markets just seem to be the same names recycled
I'd be astonished if Holden came out of nowhere to take back the job he's just been relieved of 😉 but I get your point.

All this talk of returning ex managers. Is Riga the only one who actually has? An earlier manager did, but no others in my lifetime I don't think.

Edit - Oh and just for the record, in throwing a tantrum, whoever comes through the door, I'm done, whatever that's supposed to mean and what all who say it don't .
  • When was the last time anyone fav according to the bookmakers got the job and I am talking across the board ….

Dean Holden our last appointment. He was favourite for about a week before getting the job.

The longer I think about it, putting aside my love for Sir Chis who I would have in a heartbeat, Leam Richardson seems to me to be the perfect fit. That Wigan side were excellent and I was furious for him at the time he got sacked for Wigan. It all unravelled very fast after his departure as well with a supposed big name in Kolo Toure.

I think we’re a good proposition for him too.

I have respect for the Cowley’s but I don’t want them as our manager. I also don’t think they fit the criteria Andy Scott will be looking for based on his previous appointments at other clubs who were all more ball playing managers.
  • I’ve been supporting us for over 40 years and the only successful managers we’ve had have been promoted internally or have connections with the club before hand not one outside manager has come in and been successful ie winning promotion. Unless I’ve forgotten.
Suppose we got to get lucky and get one sooner or later.

  • Big couple of days for the new regime. I can’t see us having a good deadline day if we don’t have a manager appointed tomorrow at the latest

We definitely can’t choose Pearce. There’s no credible internal candidate this time around.

It is interesting isn’t it. Four promotions in my lifetime. For all of them we had a manager who was a former player in their first job in management. I know correlation doesn’t equal causation but I wonder if it’s more than coincidence.
