However, no manager, without significant improvement in our squad, is not going to do better than mid table mediocrity this season.
The squad isn't good enough to get promoted.
You think it's as simple as getting 3 or 4 in tomorrow then you know, just getting Fraser, Camara and Leaburn fit to play (um, when is that then - end of September?!?!)
You think we are going to go on an automatic promotion run of form and make the top 6 just like that?
Jesus. I'll have some of what you are drinking !4 -
Hard to tell if people are being genuine or facetious when saying legendary managers couldn’t get a tune out this mob. Regardless of how there may be some right crap in this team, a competent manager should be able to out-compete at least 17 of the shite clubs in this division & get top 6.I’m not accepting the squad is not good enough as an excuse, it’s such a red herring. These players are not coached correctly & regardless of what Holden said, there was no identity being built, no clear style, you can see that from his incoherent team selections.Garner was pants in the end but at least you could see a distinct style of play.Whoever they bring in needs to have a clear and concise idea of how they want to play & stick to it. Like Russell Martin said, have a plan A & don’t worry about b,c,d etc. just make plan A better.6

Just a rumour but heard that Darren Moore is in London and giving a presentation.

Darren Moore just gave a talk at my job. Whilst saying goodbye to people Moore stated he is staying in London overnight and the host wished him luck for tomorrow.
No idea what he's doing tomorrow but hopefully he's interviewing to be our manager.
Having a Root canal done as its less painful than managing Charlton9 -

Yes with Fraser, Camara and Leaburn back our first-11 may be good enough to get top 6.
Our 25-man squad? Miles off. As you can see right now, with a few injuries our team always falls apart. Happens every season.8 -

And this is the problem. Some fans and the Gang of Four genuinely think this understrength squad full of four or five decent first teamers and a bunch of under 21s is good enough to compete over 46 games, nearly two games a week, with stronger sides. And make the top 6.

apart from Oxford those other games could have gone either way and with a Leaburn a Camara or Fraser or potential new lads could have been the difference. We could have 4/5 different players starting by the time we’re back from international break. Certainly not ruling this season out yet. Maybe you need a drink as yours is clearly below half full fella.6 -

He has a better recent managerial record that pretty much everyone else on our radar, including Powell and Bowyer.
Stockport would beat us at the moment.0 -
The last manager from League 2 did great, signed plenty of players from L2 as well for us. That ended well.1

Not sure that’s the best way judge a potential incoming manager.4 -
I had never heard of Challinor until this morning but a simple google search shows his record and thoughts on him, lazy comparisons to Garner are pointless.9

Delusional.Christ even Oxford, who have maybe 2/3 players i’d take in ours.Saying this squad is understrength is such a cop out, they players & coaches need to be BETTER, regardless of needing some title challenging players, they’re not playing to their level & adding a handful of class players won’t change that.2 -
My only issue with Challinor is that at the clubs he's been at, Fylde and Stockport in particular, he's always had good budgets to work with for the level he's been at.
He was well backed at Fylde to get them up the leagues, and certainly Stockport had a huge budget for the National league and even in league 2 it is better than most. I remember in the National league they signed Sarcevic who was captain of Bolton in league one.
So the question is how would he fare at a club where he isn't going to be given a huge budget.1 -
C'mon guys, has the firming up of a Darren Moore rumour shifted the betting odds?2

Is this what we have come too ? No disrespect to any of the teams or their fans but interviewing managers at Stockport & Northampton is not my idea of success.
SE7 Partners have been in charge for 6 weeks & things are starting to unravel already.
Utter shambles.0 -
Oxford are top
We are 19th
Do I need to answer that?
First 11 - we MAY compete with them. Squadwise we aren't better than Oxford. No. We over value our squad sadly. It isn't all that.
When everybody / IF everybody is fit, then yes, we are decent.
Hardly ever happens though, does it.1 -

From the only Stockport fan I know"DC has lots of credit in the bank with County fans due to him having played for us, the fact he has come up from lower leagues and of course got us into EFL. He likes a high pressing style. It's hard to fault anything he has done at Edgeley Park as every season we have moved forward. We haven't started well so there is a little more pressure building. In a weird way he is untested at EFL level - the only criticism last season was a poor start (again replicated this season ) but from here he delivered stats that were better than any other team. At times we struggled to break down teams who simply sat back and it felt we lacked a plan B. We lacked a creative player but with Louie Barry we hope we have addressed thisI think most County fans would be very sad to see him go. I'm not sure he would uproot to go to Charlton particularly as there is so much ambition and resource at County, but you never know!CheersM."15

Utter shambles.
Fresh ideas, know the !ower leagues scouting for bargains and a defined system of play.
Far better than reverting back to Bowyer, Powell etc. Happy for Atherton too tbh:-)0 -

Challinor is also a risk, but this time because he's unproven at this level.
However he's won promotion at all his clubs, so hope we dont buck the trend.2 -
Scott & Rodwell are having a multi tasking mare.
Latest I've heard is Tedic has signed a 3 year contract as manager with Dabo his assistant.
Challinor has signed a 1 year deal to play centre half.33 -

It really isn't an exact science when you appoint a manager to get you promoted:
Or in JJ case be successful in taking the "worse Charlton squad in living memory" from 22nd to 13th.
Powell - Assistant at Leicester and ex player who thankfully knew a maverick French man.
Bowyer- Fisherman and ex player who became an assistant to Robinson.
Curbishley- ex player who became a joint manager with Gritt until Murray decided on Alan.
Three inexperienced managers given their first job but very experienced in playing football at a high level. Especially Chris and Lee with Alan a tad behind.
I will back who ever is chosen by Andy Scott and the Gerry Adams lookalike.
Welcome back Karel 🧺1 -
