Chucks is a great asset, but at the moment his great coming off the bench with 30mins to go, but when he starts I feel that his not the same player as he monitors himself because he doesn’t know if he can play 90mins at the moment, but his looking fitter than we have seen him for a long time.
He was still good on Tuesday from the start. I would start him in 1 of the Reading or Lincoln games when we come back in 2 weeks
Yep, he played ok on Tuesday, but still not the same player than coming of the bench when opposition is tired.
It's a good bit of psychology really for Appleton to use. Imagine being part of a defence that's had to deal with the speed of CBT, the movement and effort of May and the physical threat of Leaburn for 70 odd minutes and then having Aneke come off the bench to get at you.

Its not a prospect any player's going to relish.
Thought Miles struggled today.......Chuks turned the game around

I actually prefer to have Chuks coming on for 30 minutes rather than play the full 90.
On the odd occasions that he has started he doesn't seem to have the same impact as when he comes on as a sub.
Chuks coming on with 30 minutes to go against tiring defender's and he's a real game changer

    The Aneke cycle continues.

    Played 221 minutes of football.
  • Gutted for the guy and we lose arguably our best forward for 3 months. The mental strength he’ll need to come back from this will need to be immense. At some point I can see him jacking it in.

Done it trying to harry a defender on the run, twisted his body to make the challenge and immediately grabbed at it.

I know it's hindsight and everything like that but if that's what his trigger point is on injuries I'd rather label him "lazy" and have him just stand in the centre circle whenever we don't have the ball and get May to do all the running for him out of possession

Ludicrous to ever start him unless we have no other choice. Gutted for him.
  • Should have stuck to 20 mins every game as an impact sub, not an hour from the start.

Might have happened anyway of course.

At least we have May and Leaburn fit.

No coincidence that our unbeaten run was when we had Chuks fit. As soon as he’s injured we lose again. That just shows the impact he has

Looks like months instead of weeks by the sounds of that . I feel so sorry for him but he's becoming a bit of a liability ( That might be a bit harsh a word) because of his hamstrings , despite how good he is when he plays. When he does come back he must only be used as an impact sub.

A couple of months ‘at least’ so, again, I’ll say forget about him and if/when he ever comes back see it as a massive bonus. He should never in my opinion be counted in as part of the forward line ‘squad’ available to the manager and then when he’s available it’s a bonus.
  • And the minimal chance of promotion we had disappears .
we can but dream but this lot of wankness aren’t getting us promoted
    good luck Chuks

I think his minutes were managed poorly and this needn't have happened so soon but at the same time it's inevitable it'll happen at some point. Frustrating all round.

We all knew it. Appleton thought differently & now we pay the price.

Leaburn & Tedic had better step up otherwise we are in for a long season.

I agree to some extent, but for someone like Chuks this kind of thing could happen at any second. The injury on Saturday was from literally nothing. Sadly for him his body will never be up to the job of maintaining consistency at a high level. I think it might be close to curtains!

From what I recall and memory might fail, Appleton said he'd spoken to Chuks and asked what kind of role he wanted to play, whether it was starting games or playing off the bench. Seemed like Chuks felt good and wanted to start.

He's going to get injured whatever he does. We might have stretched a few more games out of him by playing  him off the bench but wouldn't have expected much more.

Such a good player and a pleasure to watch.

The report mentioned he’s going to see a specialist.  Surely a specialist has already been engaged.  It can’t be this latest injury that has triggered him seeing one?

Come on Tedic. Let's see you play in your proper position and show us what you can do  (hopefully)

He had decent spells earlier in his career without getting injured. Now he just can't stop. Is this because repeated strains/tears of the same muscle lead to scar tissue which isn't as strong/flexible as the original muscle, and so keeps on tearing/straining? Vicious cycle
  • Bad news for us, and i guess possibly also bad news for Southend as this will possibly mean we recall Kanu to be 4th choice.
  • Poor fella. Good luck on the recovery Chuks.

Ain't got this weeks lottery numbers have ya?...🤔😉
  • Hopefully come the pointed end of the season we’ll be in or around the playoffs and having Chuks back for that if we are, will be a massive bonus. Poor bloke.
