  • That was much better than i expected.
    Well done to all.

Special mention for Tyreece, who never ducked a challenge and kept probing - as well as the assist.

And Dobbo too - 100 minutes of 100% on his clock again, but 5 yellows means a rest is coming.

Isted: 6.5. Good at collecting set pieces today.  not completely convinced about his shot stopping

Wow...the guy didn't have a save to make....
He did, but he let it in.

3-1 totally flattered us . Wycombe looked like a decent side . When they equalised there looked like only one team was going to win and it wasn’t us but thanks to a scuffed shot and a brilliant individual goal from CBT, I can go home happy .
Still lots of work to do. The right back Abankwah was pony again and when Watson came on to replace him , we looked far more assured .
    COYR!

Don't know why this got two lol's, was exactly how I saw it.
Bring the lols on ! Those who gave me them know I’m right they just didn’t have the intelligence to see it ! 😂

Why can't you make allowances. 'Abankwah was pony again' could read 'yet to see the best of him in his natural position in a Charlton shirt' but no, abuse it is. Crack on!
  • Golden delicious served up a great dish...tactics, changes when needed, plan "B", it all came together, all it needed was a coach who actually had some ideas, I am certainly warming to Apples and the core of what he is trying to serve up...
First half was like watching a different team to 3 weeks ago, agreed second half was a bit of a squeaky bum time for the first 20 minutes, but thankfully we had someone on the touchline who knew when and where to change things up.
Well played one and all, and on to Shrewsbury we go for another 3 points...🤞

You are definitely right . We have yet to see the best of him yet . He played half a game last week and 70 minutes today but both times he was awful. As the great Roy Walker says “Say what you see” and i did . He was pony .
  • I was really not convinced. Take the result obviously and some good moments but even when playing ‘well’, we didn’t really look all that or particularly threatening, looked likelier to lose at 1-1 until the scuffed goal. We really need Fraser and/or Camara back as campbell (and then Anderson) really struggled in those positions.

Hector and isted looked rubbish, so unassured, Jones seemed solid though.

I liked leaburn, CBT, dobson, the watson full back who came on had a half decent cameo, and I’m a big fan of May.

Didn't Isted make a good one on one save when they counter attacked and it was laid off on to their right?

Bt Isted's reaction, I suspect that was a Thomas block. To be fair, I think he was unsighted for the goal.

At 1-1 I was sure we were going to lose that, but the subs made an instant impact so they and Appleton deserve plaudits for that.

I like the look of Tedic, will be good back up for Leaburn.

Shout out for Jones. 2nd half he was immense.
  • I thought it was a thoroughly deserved win. Wycombe had a lot of pressure second half but we defended well, and Isted was rarely troubled.

Thanks, and also to LA. I was at the wrong end of the ground for it. Looked like a certain goal, him and Hector read quite a few situations well for interceptions and tackles. Lots of positives to build on today.

First first half was decent. Interesting to use TC where he did and I think he showed some glimpses of promise in that position, particularly when he had space. At times the ball into his feet was too easy to be taken off him but he will learn.
Jones had his best game for us. Thomas did well at left back. Isted dealt with their late crosses well.
They were only dangerous from set pieces and apart from the goal and the header that hit the bar there was little threat.
Good subs from Appleton - when Camara and Fraser are back we have a very decent squad.
    Early days but positive signs.

A very good first half in which we dominated the opposition and fully deserved our 1-0 lead. Tyreece Campbell made mincemeat of the full back and set up Leaburn, who produced a very cool finish. CBT was a continual threat down the left and we moved the ball very well, creating a couple of other opportunities. Wycombe offered very little until Vokes’ header against the bar just before the half time whistle.

The second half was a totally different story. Wycombe came out on the front foot and following the volleyed equaliser, looked the more likely winners. We completely lost control of midfield and Wycombe were well on top, with McLeary at the centre of most of their best play.

Tennai Watson, who had an impressive cameo, got to the line and produced a lovely ball back to pick out Tedić, who completely scuffed his shot. It was so bad, it was good, deceiving everybody and somehow squirting in at the far post. CBT then produced his moment of magic to seal a win which looked unlikely deep into the second half.

Defensively, I thought that Isted was fine, taking a few crosses well to relieve pressure. I even thought he produced a decent save in the second half, although maybe the effort was deflected wide by a defender. After a couple of early very shaky moments from Hector, he improved, whilst Jones and Thomas both did well. Young Abankwa looked out of his depth at right back and hopefully Watson will be fit to start next week, with Asiimwe also back in the mix soon.

Louie Watson produced some neat touches in the first half but seemed to tire as we became a little ragged in midfield. Tyreece Campbell produced some moments of real quality, but also looked out on his feet deep into the second half. Anderson couldn’t get into the game when he came on, so it was left to Dobbo (as ever) to try and hold things together.

Leaburn was very good on the first half but made less impact in the second and was looked like he was feeling a knock. It’s also only his second start this season. Alfie May had a bit of an off day - save for one good first half shot - but scuttled around as ever and ended up playing just behind Aneke and Tedić when Campbell went off. CBT produced a MoTM performance and his goal was richly deserved.

Appleton got his substitutions right and it shows how important it is to have a strong bench. He will still be searching for his best midfield combination - hardly helped by the ongoing absence of Camara, Fraser and McGrandles - but at least we defended better today in the face of sustained second half pressure and didn’t hand Wycombe anything on a plate.

The scoreline flattered us but three goals and three points sent us all home in good heart. It moves us away from the lower reaches of the table and a couple more good results will mean we can at last start looking upwards.

But with no explanation. I know we're not pundits, but to me a single word put down like that just appears lazy.

No he was not … he played well and made some very good tackles at important times

Hector was excellent second half so much so that you never saw Vokes and Hanlon was taken off , Jones was a rock today .. Isted handling today was was excellent and eased the pressure ..

Was actually thinking that as well. Fraser, Camara, McGrandles (don't laugh), Edun and Chem Campbell (although he was a sub) all didn't feature today.

Admittedly highly unlikely they'll all be fit at the same time, but if they are we have a decent squad that should be play off contenders.

Defence still worries me though and i think we'd definitely have to look for reinforcements in January.

I’m with you Beds. Agree the score flattered us, but we were by far the better side in the first half and could have gone in 2 up. Overall we deserved the win, I think.
Feel sorry for Abankwah, who’s playing out of position. He looks nervous and uncertain, and I hope Watson can start next week.
Thomas had another good game, Jones is growing on me, but Hector needs to stop passing to players who are marked. Fine in the Premier League or Championship maybe, but not in L1.
I thought Tyreece was lucky to start after being poor up at Stevenage, but he made things happen today, in the first half at least, and chalked up a very good assist for our first.
Miles was also way sharper today. Took his goal well, and I hope he went off because of cramp, rather than injury.
    Corey’s too good for you
Corey’s too good for you etc.
What a goal! Would like to see more of those from him. Thought he could have played a bit wider in the second half.
Chuks was Chuks. Very good assist for Corey, with the headed flick on.
Karoy got caught on the ball a few times. Needs to work on that.
I did think Appleton might turn out to be a good appointment for us. He seems to be more of a football man than Holden, if that make sense. Better at tactics and game management. I think when everyone’s fit we should do well.
