Certainly is a trial at Charlton, poor lad.12
-
Any rumours of another striker coming in, could really have done with someone leading the line yesterday, to keep the ball up there, and lay it off to others.0
-
Assume Isted is going out on loan to get some game time (as part of his recovery) if Lewis Ward is coming in.0
-
You're talking like the club want him to go, which isn't the case.Steven81 said:We should have a squad to play both formations not having wingers is a joke let's get rid of our best one most exciting that can beat a man and finish and stock up elsewhere, how about getting a striker another decent winger and keeping our best players club is royally fecked imo
There's a big difference between us getting rid of him and him turning down a new contract.

Nixon saying we're in for cole stockton17

Would be very happy with this on a short term basis with a view to a permanent.FAVADDICK said:Nixon saying we're in for cole stockton
I'm not delusional enough to say he'd be as impactful as JCH, but he'd certainly enable May if we could get the variation of Stockton we have seen take us apart.0 -
Always liked Stockton, he has bullied us everytime we’ve come up against him and a bit like May, loves scoring against us.0

Oh god not my arch nemesis ha ha! Someone tell me I’m asleep and this is a nightmare.FAVADDICK said:Nixon saying we're in for cole stockton
Just going to mention, as I did the last time people were having a meltdown when we didn’t go for him - he’s never played ‘down south’ before - and I don’t see that changing now.
To be honest feels a little like lazy clickbait journalism from Nixon to me, pulling the name out of the ‘target striker’ hat, because the JCH deal looks like it’s falling through.

Would rather this than another Tedic on loan.FAVADDICK said:Nixon saying we're in for cole stockton
Straight swop deal for Terrell Thomas who they were after last season.0 -

Not convinced about Stockton. Hasn't worked for him at Burton at all. I don't want to be left in another Tedic situation of course but I'd be seeing what's possible with Ladapo and Humphreys before looking at Stockton.9
-
Agree with this but we need a presence up top desperately. I don't think Leaburn is the answer to that either when fit as he needs to work on his strength and hold up play. Chuks is our only option in that role and he's available 5mins a season!MarcusH26 said:Not convinced about Stockton. Hasn't worked for him at Burton at all. Could Stockton be signed quickly and basically fill the gap until we land someone better, towards the end of the window? If Miles and Chuks aren't going to be back very soon, it would allow us to loan out Kanu again, or rotate him in and out of the 16 instead of relying on him.0

Cant really afford to lose another Centre-Back what with Hector being out for ten weeks now - Especially if we're to play three of themOh Eddie Youds... said:

https://burtonbrewers.proboards.com/thread/5438/stocktonBurton forum views on Stockton. Heartening to know that we are not the only team who buys players who ‘spend more time on the physio bench, have a bad attitude, and the team does not play to their strengths’.1

I’m hoping we sign another CB on top of Gillesphey (allowing Thomas to depart).
We need a true leader at the back. Reading captain Tom Holmes would improve us in that department.
I don’t think Ness or Thomas are good enough for a promotion squad.5 -
Impressive showreel of Jake Young.
Concerns: I've been suckered by showreels before; it's in league two; why did Bradford loan him out; is he really likely to be someone who can take us to the top of league one and beyond.
BUT: If Peterborough can spot young strikers who make a massive impact and become expensive, hot properties, we should be capable of doing the same.1 -

Not a fan at all, but Thomas had one of his best games for us yesterday. I agree though that neither are good enough to for a promotion push.Oh Eddie Youds... said:I’m hoping we sign another CB on top of Gillesphey (allowing Thomas to depart).

I don’t think Ness or Thomas are good enough for a promotion squad. The rumour is that Tom Holmes (and Nelson Abbey) have been snapped up by Luton. Without the knowledge of the Reading manager or Mark Bowen, their DoF.6 -
Never been Thomas’ biggest fan, but I think he’s good enough to be a squad player due to his versatility. Thought he was excellent yesterday 👍🏼Oh Eddie Youds... said:I’m hoping we sign another CB on top of Gillesphey (allowing Thomas to depart).

The chance to pinch a player from one of our rivals in the battle for 13th though, could be a good opportunityMarcusH26 said:Not convinced about Stockton. Hasn't worked for him at Burton at all. If we can do better than Thomas, we should do just that regardless of one good game in thirty and I hope the striker is better than Cole Stockton.
I cannot wait to see Coventry play a full game, nor Bakinson for that matter. We need a striker, winger, CB and RB/RWB that gives us similar feelings. We’ll then be in with a better shout.0 -

This shouldn't be a surprise, however I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere. We have agreed-term partnership with Mount Pleasant Academy Football Club, so we get a lot of players graduating from their academy. It's called the 'Mountain to Valley partnership' (sounds very Methven)
Paul Elliott: “This long-term, strategic partnership will allow Charlton to dramatically increase the talent pool our brilliant academy can draw from.“Some of Charlton’s most successful homegrown players of the last 50 years have been of Jamaican origin – including many in the current team – so there is also a good cultural fit.”
Mount Pleasant are the reigning Jamaica Premier League champions, with a charitable arm that provides children in the Caribbean with fully boarding scholarships. They currently are atop the JPL after the first round of matches.
Mount Pleasant’s Sporting Director, Paul Christie, said: “Mount Pleasant are fortunate enough to attract many of the best young players from throughout the Caribbean. We believe that this partnership, with such a renowned London club, will make us even more of an attractive proposition for talent.
“Charlton and Mount Pleasant have long-standing connections at many levels, from our respective ownerships to directors to the coaching staff, so we are building on firm foundations.”
Steve Avory added: “Quality recruitment is vital to a successful academy. Our recruitment of talented players in the immediate Charlton catchment area has been a crucial factor in our success and youth development over many years. It all starts with talent ID.
“The Mount Pleasant’s partnership is an interesting, potentially fruitful link outside of our south and east London focus, and I know Bert Dawkins [academy recruitment manager], who has been over to Jamaica to visit Mount Pleasant, is very positive about the possibilities with player recruitment from an emergent Concacaf academy programme.”
As part of the various commitments underpinning the partnership, Charlton’s young players will participate in an annual youth tournament at Mount Pleasant’s campus, while the Addicks will host Mount Pleasant’s senior team in an annual preseason charity match at The Valley.
