Playing the Red red robin is a nice touch
This place would be in meltdown if we played 'Glad All Over' after Palace stuff us at the Valley.

Will be shocked if Cray Valley aren’t promoted
They have had issues with their ground not meeting the criteria for the next level up. Hence the money will be really useful in improving their ground.
What's the criteria for the next level up?

I'd have thought if it was deemed ok to host a live tv game against a league one side then it would surely be ok for tier 7.
  • Is that a banger for Dobbo in the fa cup and the BDSM trophy at Crawley, now one for the League please .
I’ll be honest I didn’t think he had that in him , let’s see it happen in a meaningful match please !
left footer as well, a lovely strike .

Great second half performance. One question. What is up with Leaburn? Looked really moody for the whole game.
  • Have to admit that I'd never heard of the two late subs Mbick and Kedwell.

Both managed to contribute something in their limited time though.

All a bit quiet on Blackett Taylor's withdrawal at half time. Has he received a knock or is there something else going on here ? He was lack lustre at Pompey as well.

    Maybe not fully fit?

Another great cameo from Kedwell. Looked brilliant against the Villa U21s a few weeks ago. Definitely got a bit about him.
  • Not had time to read the post match, but genuinely thought McGrandles played really well last night, the work Asiimwe kept the right side of the pitch really lively, along with MAY.
I really hope he is getting his confidene and fitness back as he could be pivotal and have a part to play with Camara out long term . I think he even had a smile on his face, when he was subbed. So well done to MA for giving him the minutes!

Alfie May wants another 20+ goals this season. Also a Liverpool fan...

That was a "Come and get me Jurgen message if I've ever heard one".

He'll replace Salah January no doubt :-(

If you listen to Micky Apples post match interview it sounds like Ness getting flack for his part in the penalty unfairly. It appears the keeper called leave it believing it would reach the area but misjudged it. Then misjudged it again by kicking the player rather than the ball. Almost comical.

Pleased we won obviously but apples closing comment about staying in the cup reiterates exactly what is wrong with football now - ‘gives you a chance to rotate the squad’ - no surprises in that but until the latter stages cup games are reserve games and I’ll wait until the latter stages before I attend thank you very much

Surprised to see Mbick with the first team , nice surprise to see him and Toby Bower involved. Credit to Appleton for putting out that starting XI too.
Yeah surprised he's ahead of Casey... Unless he's at Cockfosters for the U21s

Would expect Casey is with the U21s , will be interesting to see what their lineup is because I'd have expected Mbick,Kedwell and Bower all to be at Cockfosters
Any idea what type of Striker Mbick is?
Mbick is very similar to Mbappe

I think it was just apples correcting his mistake of playing him. On a small bumpy pitch, it was never going to be a game for Corey and I was surprised he was picked for this.

Has Corey's effort deteriorated since Edun has been back?  Tayo does like to bomb forward himself.
  • Thought the coverage on BBC was pretty good. Nice to see Lisbie get a plug in for Charlton TV. Also great that Danny Murphy looked frozen by the end, ahh well not to worry.

What is this ref playing at? It was a freekick, not a penalty and was the most stonewall red ive ever seen
Probably already answered. But if it the foul was outside the box it's a red, downgraded to a yellow in the box because it was a deliberate attempt at the ball and prevents a double punishment.

    Stupid rule.
    Excellent rule.

Guess that's why AMB avoided a red on Saturday

Interesting the commentators didnt seem to know about it. Poor. Mind you they’d forgotten the incident completely by the second half when a Cray player was booked and they described it as the first of the match.
  • Cray will be up against Ramsgate for promotion, with Ramsgate's tie with Wimbledon being shown on TV and with their money from winning first round tie, they have made well in excess of 120k. Their budget is far more than Cray Valley.

PWR - was amazed Tedic didn’t get a run out at all. I think he’ll be going back in January.

Moving from 4 divisions below the league to 3 needs an increase in capacity to 2000 instead of 1300, 250 seats not 150, total places under cover including terraces to accommodate 500 not 300 and an extra turnstile. They need to be able to segregate away supporters, but don't have to actually do it unless there's a high-risk game (I guess they fixed that specific issue in the past week). There's a load of other stuff, but those are the expensive bits. The good news is that if you earn promotion on the pitch you're given until March of your first season at the higher level to get the work done. The less good is that if you don't do it you get relegated regardless of where you finish and you're not eligible for promotion again until all the work's done. Basically they'd need to put in an extra stand and some terracing, most of which could be open, and that would be the difference that people will notice.

The penalty was confirmed by the lino. He was right in front of us and the ref looked over to him for confirmation. He was also the lino that disallowed our goal in the 1st half v Fleetwood in Sept

He didn’t play well but we didn’t get the ball to him as often as we should have done. Playing against a team sitting deep doesn’t suit him either, but that shouldn’t he an excuse against an 8th tier side.

Definitely expect him and Chem Campbell to go back (I actually think there's a player there with Chem Campbell but something isn't working for Appleton)

For Appleton to bring on Mbick instead of Tedic does confirm a lot for me.

One thing I did notice last night, Leaburns whole body language and facial expressions, didn’t seem overly happy at all, even after scoring.
Glad you (and @redbuttle) mention this because I've had that feeling for a couple of games now. Some moments where with the ball at his feet in or near the box with defenders around him he seemed more intent on showing his "rich talent" than doing something effective with the ball. But on the other hand it might be that he's annoyed with himself that he isn't getting the end product, not least goals. That might be supported by Apples not taking him off for Tedic. Fear I'm clutching at straws though.

Thought the BBC commentary was amateurish at best, cliched, pun heavy, and they were clearly desperate for an upset.
What annoyed me was the moron below the tv gantry shouting “fecking hit him” every time one of our players went down that side, also shouting “diving c*** “ at Alfie May.
Glad we smashed them now, just to annoy the hangers on and mentally challenged that were there.
The fact that Murphy looked cold and had to lower himself to visit that level of ground pleased me, no doubt his wife asked him about the catering on offer and will be complaining on social media anytime soon!
Funniest thing for me was seeing someone on MPA in the background flicking their light on and off rapidly to get on the TV
