I think the regime are bullshitters, whether Appleton fell for it is irrelevant, because his appointment was a bullshit appointment. I know all the arguments about players and managers and change, but can it really get much worse?
The actual highlight of the game (and I don't know if it was picked up on the coverage) was when Archibald scooped up the foam and made a new free kick line a meter and a half closer. He turned and beamed at us in the crowd after he did it and the (terrible) ref moved it back, and didn't book him, but it was the best bit of shithousery I've seen for many a season, it was actually brilliant cheek.
Does Apples really give a f*ck, or is he aiming for an early payoff ? Not a nice thing to contemplate I know. But given the unchanged team from Burton, playing players out of position again, and then to cap it off, he comes out at the end and doesn't even seem particularly angered by the nature of the loss.
It's not acceptable, the fans deserve better. I don't care if he throws a few tea cups around or makes one of the poor petals cry, all part of the process of manning up, toughening up, and taking some personal responsibility.
Only positive was the crowd fully turned on them at the end, both players and Appleton.
I genuinely hate every single one of them.
1. "only positive was the crowd turned on them". what possibly positive can come from that? 2. If you "hate" them please take a break it will be better for you own mental health.
Okay, so they should be clapped off and praised for their efforts 👏👏👏
1. You don't have to clap or boo. 2.If it's the case that the team really is below standards for L1, how is abuse and booing going to help? They will need to put in performances above their ability ,that will require extra effort and concentration. How will it help to have our fans shouting " you're f**king useless" or similar . Don't blame them if they leave at the first opportunity. And why would more talented players want to join us? I'm disappointed, but if you don't like don't go again. You're not helping.
Club is dead unless everything changes, so that is why some fans show anger. Fans apathy will kill the club off even quicker. What is your solution ?
No idea how it come across on the streams but can assure you it was worse there. £29 for a stand and facilities the equivalent of Welling United, the two highlights were a massive post blocking 10% of the shite show being played out (shame there wasn’t another 9 of them), and driving back home to Sidcup quicker than a home game.
We are god awful and failing to beat similar god awful teams. There’s zero positives. Club feels an absolute shit show with no heart to it at all. I have no idea what we are doing tactically but ineffective possession play in defence resulting in a launched diagonal for one of their giant defenders to head 300 times was never going to work.
We are regressing ridiculously. No clean sheets since October, even sides with zero attacking threat are scoring goals against us. Six games in December have yielded 0 wins, 3 draws, 3 losses. If we didn’t have that little run where Aneke and Leaburn were available and we picked up a few points, we’d be firmly in the relegation picture now.
Awful.
And here we have it Beautiful Succinct Stats and from a reasoned poster We all bleed Charlton but we have been fucking terrible for months
But it's ok. Give the manager a window The owners haven't been in charge long enough Play the best goslscorer in the division wide
It all eventually returns to type
We had a new manager bounce and a moment when Aneke and Leaburn were fit.
Outside of that, we are absolutely pathetic. Embarrassing. Ridiculous.
Steve Brown was a pro for this club. Committed and whole hearted. He knows how lucky he was to be a pro. But he bloody worked to make it, retain it and enjoy it.
He has hit the nail on our head. How bad our current pros are.
I’m not normally prone to hyperbole, but that might be the worst match and performance I’ve ever seen.
We need at least five signings who are better, and stronger, than what we’ve got.
We need a target man, so we can hit free kicks long into their box sometimes, rather than faffing about.
We need to learn how to take long throws, or sign someone who can, rather than faffing about. We need players who see the last ten minutes of a tied contest as a chance to go for the win, rather than players who get paralysed by a fear of losing. We need experienced players with a bit of character.
And I think we should and hopefully push the boat out in the transfer window to get what is needed or are at least start building a team for next season. Play offs not happening this year but surely better to start to gather a core together now who can play together Rather than 8/10 new players in July/August?
12 points off playoffs, 10 points off relegation. Makes you feel good doesn't it. Don't say we have games in hand to some teams, if your not winning, it doesn't matter

Too many of this squad swan about doing FA and get the plaudits for doing the bare minimum. I genuinely think it's good for them to get some abuse following a performance like that, because they need to know it's not acceptable.
I'll be there on Friday. My mental health is fine because I can separate the football from the rest of my life - I like to vent post match, but it doesn't have any bearing on me day to day. I appreciate your concern though.

My solution would be to stick with the manager and make funds available to him. Imo, we can only judge the owners and Appleton after they've been given a decent amount of time. That's not defending him or them, it's just stating what I personally think is the most sensible way of approaching the problem as it stands.
Think the most accountable party in all this at the moment are the players.
Also think to keep chopping managers is most definitely not the answer.

The whole place needs leadership and inspiration - a trained monkey could see that.
Appleton is useless and will not get any better, even with new players.
The current squad [fit players] is useless, aside from May, who will leave. I also said that EVERYTHING needs changing - getting rid of Appleton will not solve the problem, but keeping him will guarantee failure too. He is incapable of inspirational leadership, which along with good owners is what we need. Your solution keeps us in terminal decline

I pay hard earned money to watch this side , I’m entitled to my opinion just like every other supporter who wants better for our club, who were 5th in the prem 20 years ago

For a manager that’s “good on the grass” I’d love to know what we do all week to play like this over the last few games.
Wrong choice of manager. Anyone who starts the same 11 as that shit performance we put in last week clearly hasn’t got a clue.
Feels crazy say sack him but I wouldn’t trust him with a transfer window.
Half of these players needs to go, and that includes CBT. January isn’t going to be enough time to sort this mess out.
What I said earlier. 14 points off the play offs we should use this window and the summer one to be preparing for next season and that starts now with replacing the manager
Wish I hadn't bought a season ticket now - can't bring myself to keep going to the games when the players and manager are insulting us with their lack of effort and commitment - would rather watch my local non-league team.
Wouldn't be at all surprised if Alfie put in a transfer request if nothing is forthcoming within 7 days of the window opening, he must be feeling "why did I agree to come here"...🤷♂️
Went to the game hoping to be entertained, I paid my money and i took my chance. What i saw was 22 below standard players, (Lets not kid ourselves Orient are world beaters) Being refereed by someone whose turn it was from the home teams "Dads", (The officials were that poor!).
We started the game playing sub-standard football, and just got worse. I have never seen so many players who cant control a football, and cant pass into space for a team mate to run into. We could not beat what was for me a 4-4-2 pedestrian team lead by a 38yr old.
Why i waste £120 a year supporting the academy, when Campbell looks not much more than a pub team player, and another one who cant take a throw on. No wonder they got a roasting when they came across, with Appleton and another player with what looked like smirks on their faces.
I would have made them run back to the Valley, via Greenwich foot tunnel with 20kgs of kit.
I going to BR, because i support the club. How much longer i have to put up with " dont give a f@%k players" I dont know.
But i was here before them, and i will be here long after these shirkers have gone.

I think there's two scenarios here;
1- The ideal world scenario that would allow us to change EVERYTHING from the bottom up and it all turn out perfect with no hiccups.
2- Clearing out a bit of what we've got and hoping what's left will work with whatever is brought in.
It seems that you're thinking we'd need to start another 3 / 4 / 5 + year plan by changing everything wholesale?
I'm more hoping that, with a few new signings and a fair wind, we can blag it under Appleton and be there or there abouts next season.

12 points off playoffs, 10 points off relegation. Makes you feel good doesn't it. Don't say we have games in hand to some teams, if your not winning, it doesn't matter

14 off play offs.
I put up 12 points before games had finished, thanks for correcting
Thought we could not put in a more lifeless performance than the Burton game. I was wrong. Watched the game in the home end in disbelief at a lack of desire from any of our shower of shite

If I was Alfie I'd be saying to Appleton....
"I'm playing up front. If you play me out wide I'm just going to move inside & play centre forward where I've played all my life. Its up to you boss but I know whose side the fans will be on".
A bit of time after the game and my first post, wider thoughts...
Orient were a very poor but physical and organised side. The sort of team a play off contender should be brushing aside without difficulty 8 times out of 10. They barely threatened and didn't create a lot. They were there for the taking.
The first half was a drab affair where C Campbell should have done better than tap a clear chance along the ground at the keeper after telegraphing his shot. The linesman flagged two offsides that were not where we could have broken and had a clear chance. The ref was typically poor. We pumped long ball after long ball in the direction of CBT who I don't think has ever won a header, he doesn't even challenge.
The second half we continued the aimless pumping of long balls at CBT but mixed up occasionally to overhit passes to May. Whoever is the tactical genius behind this play needs a new answer.
Our set pieces throughout were poor from an attacking point, two Fraser corners in succession in the first half were as bad as I have seen, then one tried off the training ground except only 2 players seemed to have prepared for it so it was easy to defend.
On set pieces against we are painfully bad and weak. Balls bouncing in our box is just schoolboy, totally criminal for a professional player.
The goal was appalling by half of the team.
Outside Deji, I don't think there is a fit player left out of the squad, Appleton has no chance to change it up; in that way I have some sympathy but in recent weeks he has continually blamed the squad and players and bemoaned all the kids. No wonder then they don't seem to want to play for him; no wonder not a single kid has improved.
Take T Campbell, he looks non league currently, totally devoid. Yet, we know he is an exciting young talent. He is a shell of the player MA had when he joined. Almost every player by a man has regressed under MA.
We lose £8M a year, seem to be building off the pitch and have Methven, Scott, Rodwell, Warwick, Lonegan, Sutherland and Elliot all being paid which seems to me to be a crazy number for a L1 club. The owners surely have a plan and a playing budget beyond "being cleverer than everyone else and doing the playing bit on a budget". The issue is, if that were true, why Appleton.. he is the absolute definition of a budget singing and yet the manager role is so absolutely crusical.
They bought us for £12M, have loaded more cost on, lost supporters and hence turnover and must be hemorrhaging money, there can be no slow build to glory. It needs us to do an Ipswich and go all in hard. This window needs to start the build by picking off some of the soon to be out of contract players with 6months left on their contracts; the summer needs a proper run at it.
But next season will have much harder teams both from those being relegated and those being promoted.
I will never feel apathy for this club, it means too much.
Wouldn't be at all surprised if Alfie put in a transfer request if nothing is forthcoming within 7 days of the window opening, he must be feeling "why did I agree to come here"...🤷♂️

1. Any decent manager would drop you and have you training with the reserves.
2. May played up front today and was, again, ineffective there.
There is no big man available for Alfie to play off whether he’s in a two up top or playing the 10 in behind. That’s the biggest problem with Alfie right now.

New prize for the crossbar challenge - being the manager for the next match. Really couldn't do a worse job.
