We moan about refs usually but both centre halves should have seen red today and them have a pen. It evens out over the season. Some need to remember that.
Surely good leadership is admitting your mistakes and that means sacking Appleton
I certainly wouldn't chance him with a transfer budget. An uninspiring appointment who stands there like he's scouting a sunday league game.
well he doesn't choose who to spend on, can't see why a player would want to play for him though
Good point. Worrying thing is that (IF there is) any transfer budget/ strategy it will have likely been discussed with him for weeks e.g. agreeing player targets etc.
Yes the players aren't his but playing Alfie May on the wing, not playing Watson and not drilling the team to avoid late goals raises red flags at his ability to move the club forward even if he got a roll of the transfer dice.
Whatever you think of Appleton you can’t deny completely killing may - our only bright spark of shit season and a talisman who actually creates and drives us forward - shows what an awful awful coach he is
Many a Charlton fan punching the air with a silent "Told you so" with that goal
Pep wannabes? This is nowhere near good enough. It’s fair to point out our manager is stubbornly sticking with some of his choices that haven’t been working over the last few months.
Of course it isnt... But have been pretty tired with the match thread tonight with so many using the power of Hindsight to say what the right set of tactics should be.
So many come out with what Appleton should do, but dont stop and think for one moment that their tactical genius could result in an even worst outcome
It isn't hindsight I've read the same comments for 4 games minimum now in a row Don't play May at right wing Don't play Fraser Don't play Campbell in the "10" We can't keep a clean sheet We have no leaders Appleton isn't changing things We've lost again
It isn't hindisght It's history repeating itself over and over and over again
Curbs and Brownie repeating it too
Are they not qualified either?
They are saying what has been said on here throughout the night.
We can't all be wrong And Appleton right Sorry.
Of course its hindsight - Fair enough if Curbs and Brownie are saying that we shouldn't be playing X in one position, and Y in another position.
But what's to say we'd have won tonight with the players in the "right" system? - Can you guarantee me 100% a way we'd have won tonight, absolutely confident in the knowledge it would have happened?
Because unless you've got a f**king time machine, there is zero way anyone can go into a game with that... therefore its still a case of hindsight
Of course not - but the current set up isn't working.
We can all see it.
The best goalscorer in this division two and a half years running is being marginalised by an average League 1 manager who's overseen 2 wins in 11 league games, a draw against CVPM and a defeat versus Gillingham.
There is absolutely no way i would give Appleton a transfer budget. Playing May out on the wing is proof enough that he's not the man for the job. Get rid.
Scott will be the one buying the players, Appleton will sign it off but let’s not get it twisted that Appleton will be given the budget to do as he pleases.

He's not seeing a pattern is he......
But what's to suggest the system you were screaming for tonight was going to work either?
How do you know your approach will work... the same as Curbs, the same as Brownie as none of them have done a single piece of analysis on Bristol Rovers prior to the game
Or are you arrogant enough to think that teams can waltz up to games, have a system and completely ignore what the opposition have in store themselves?
No live interview with Apples tonight, being recorded for later transmission, read into that what you like, but don't sound good for him...we shall see
Comments
Not for me.
He’s not going anywhere until next season at the earliest.
It’s shit but it’s what we’ve got.
