We were there for the start of our long unbeaten run, if my memory serves me correctly. Think it was the coldest I ever been at football.

Reading away at Elm Park Jan 1997 which if I remember finished 2-2 please correct me if I'm wrong and then a 2-1 defeat at the  new Reading stadium August 2024.
    You're not wrong Badger;

    11th January 1997; Reading 2 Charlton 2; (Lisbie, Whyte). Att; 7,614

The Reading keeper, Mikhailov, wore a syrup.

If we play Wrexham next year it would be 43 years since my last visit to the Racecourse Ground
I did attend the Racecourse Ground last season so it was 43 years.

Are you going again in November? Could get yourself a longest and shortest gap double !
  • I was at the 3-0 Wolves. My first ever away game with my dad. Who was a Wolves supporter believe it or not
  • Not sure if this is the right forum or not but does anyone remember an away match in 2006/2007 season against Fulham where it was pay on the door and was only £5 to get in (i was only 16/17 so may have been more for adults) ? Think Dowie was manager at time.

    Cambridge Utd.

A 1-1 draw in September 1978 and then again for a 1-0 win in April 2025. 46 and a half years.
  • Ipswich, Sept 1995, the Leaburn hat-trick game.
    Revisiting next month.
Just over 30 years, I think that will be my new record.
  • Hull away in April 1986 and next month. 39 years. A glory boy only doing promotion seasons😂

A good question. As it's Friday night and I'm in a good mood I shall say "yes". Not much we can do when a club moves grounds. Doesn't feel quite right though.

Ipswich, I went in 2008, still haven't gone back (due to not living in the country and all that)

I think this should be in the “away grounds that I’ve never been back too” thread.

Slightly different but I worked out my last away day excluding Wembley was Millwall in 2019 when Sarr didn't jump in the 91st minute

What is it with them and scoring late goals vs us
  • Mansfield Town for me (first ever game) in 78 then last season AND it happened to be that BOTH games were on April Fools Day!! 47 years apart!!!

  • As an away fan, supporting Ireland at Wembley, 1980 to 2024, 44 years,

Went to Field Mill, Mansfield, 1 April ‘78. We won 3-0. Then last season, exactly 47 years later, went back and saw us win 2-1. 100% win record!

I think it was played on a Saturday? The old bill gave me and a couple of mates a lift back to the station in their transit van.
