Struggling big time. Needed him to make an impact, but he isn’t playing well what so ever.
Problem is he’s having to create chances out of nowhere, he needs service which he isn’t getting
Maybe he wasn’t the correct type signing for us. Without an attacking midfielder at the club, maybe it would have been more sensible to have signed the guy from Port Vale and just play for flicks on. Not getting either from Lapado.
Can imagine the fan reaction had we turned down a Striker with 15+ goals per the last three seasons to his name at this level

In favour of a lump who has struggled to score more than five goals in a season
Why should they care about fan reactions. They are professionals getting paid to run a football club we are just fans. You work with what you got. Without a doubt we will look a better side when Aneke returns from
    injury.
  • How many touches has he had in the oppositions area?

    Ladapo isn't the problem
    Ladapo isn't the only problem.
    Agreed

He is the problem because we can’t get the ball to him. He’s not the profile of player to graft and the hold ball up. Between now and the end of the season how are we going to get the ball to him in the box?

There is zero point of signing someone and not playing to his skillset. It’s a perfect example of the recruitment not signing players to fit the players we have. 100% blame Scott for signing him rather than Ladapo.
We aren't going to get the ball to him when we start with 8 defensive outfield players

Lord, we will be in the National League by then.
  • Cannot remember the last time I was this disappointed with a signing.

I desperately wanted JCH but believed Ladapo would be a decent second choice.
  • Copy and paste my comment from Fiorini thread…

Held his own at Championship level this season.

Didn’t turn into a bad player over night. It’s just the usual Charlton curse.
I don't care what he's done previous to coming here. He's not necessarily a bad player, but he is a BAD signing, cos he's clearly not up to speed. Well done Scott! another f up. How on earth is this bloke still in his post?
  • Lazy shirking pisstaker can naff off back east as soon as he likes
  • As above give back at end of season a must.

  • Starting to look a little more fitter , think it was his best game led the line well and there were early signs of a partnership forming with May

Fuck me are you for real?
  • Haven't we been after him for 2 seasons?

But we do have a big problem in that we can't create chances
  • The experts on here told us he was mustard and although disappointing thus far playing 40 yards from the opposition goal with your back to it isn’t gonna get the best out of him. Since stockley  our forwards have been deprived of a service and albeit may has scored plenty he now finding the service tough

If we're gonna play two up front, it'd be helpful if at least one could hold the ball up.
  • Thank goodness this was a try before you buy loan and we didn’t spunk half a mill on him!!!
  • So far he’s looked like an alternative to May and Kanu who isn’t fully fit rather than the hold up striker we need.
  • Just looked at Wiki. Didn't know that he is 31 and has so much experience. From what he has shown for us so far he has looked less ready for first team football than Daniel Kanu.
  • Should’ve signed Ikpeazu from Port Vale. He would have been ideal holding the ball up and bringing Alfie, Ladapo and others into play. Just as well we didn’t though because it’s kept all those on here who didn’t want him because of his poor scoring record, happy 😏.

  • He was poor today. Looked like a very ordinary non-league player. Shame.

His last 4 seasons at this level.

    18 goals
    14 goals
    11 goals
    17 goals

He featured in every single league game for Ipswich last season. A side who scored 101 goals and got 98 points.

He obviously isn't a bad player, but whether it's lack of fitness, lack of confidence, lack of service, there's clearly something lacking (maybe all three). Hopefully Jones can figure the problem out as he's clearly capable of scoring goals.
Did we need another striker who 'requires service'? I thought pretty much everyone agreed that we needed someone for May to play off, and who could help the ball stick up top. Seems like no improvement made there.

As he is now injured he would have fitted in very well.

He wouldn’t have got injured if he’d signed for us 😉
  • He was absolute toilet water today

Thing with his 17 last season for Ipswich is they were battering teams and creating tonnes of chances every game. So whilst not a bad total I always felt it was a bit misleading compared to what we should expect him to do playing for us.  Imagine how many someone like JCH or May would have got for Ipswich last season
  • Ball is not sticking upfront. Leaburn or aneke in this team and we would be ok.
  • I don’t mind him cos in a sea of shit I think he may eventually stop stinking, unlike most of them

    Ladapo isn't the problem
This - is he supposed to bloody cross it for himself!
