The correct choice is pretty obvious to me.2 -

I find it really strange that people think we’re the only club operating this way.
If you had a choice between keeping Appleton for two more games (Blackpool, Derby this weekend) and having some deadline day signings or getting rid of him and having no deadline day signings, what’s the preference?
These are the kind of points I was trying to make in favour of keeping him a bit longer but the sentiment against him became too strong.
Oh wait.....
It shouldn't be a one or the other. It should be both things done properly and efficiently
For the very fact we haven't done that is a prime example of why this whole season has been an absolute shit sandwich2 -

The person who appoints the manager is Jim Rodwell alone according to a poster yesterday.
No Methven has nothing whatsoever to do with it seemingly, and anyway his shareholding is so small he doesn't count.
We read above that Andy Scott has nothing to do with the appointment of the manager either, so it is left with Jim Rodwell himself.
Makes me wonder what is meant by any comment that the decision makers are 48/52 or something. Is that a reference to what carries on in the hemispheres of one man's brain?0 -

Or, sack him following the home defeat to Peterborough (again mentioned we are getting closer) - 13th Jan
Or, sack him following the defeat to Burton as we were now in the relegation battle mentioned at the start of the month - 20th Jan
Instead, the board who wanted him out, allowed him to manage the Northampton game (even though some of the players thought he wasn't going to be in charge) which then caused even more damage and only allowed a week of signings and interviewing & appointing a new manager/head coach.
Let's stop making excuses for pisspoor decsions. This is not normal management.

Heard a rumour Wan-Bissaka was interviewed today. Would be a player manager role.14

I take the point that people have made about having someone ready to go ASAP but it’s not always that easy - especially when the club is so badly underperforming.
If you want to bring in a top quality candidate, it takes time to convince them that things are awful right now but they’re ready to be turned out and that they’re the man to do it.
I think the only ready made replacements that we could’ve had lined up would’ve been another Appleton or similar.2 -
They could have also not gone for the cheap option by giving the job to Appleton in the first place.1

Our top targets currently were all out of work at the start of January. So if that is the pool of managers we are looking at, it would have been the same had we done it weeks earlier. Warning signs were there that something was wrong and had we acted sooner instead of trying our luck, we would be in a much better position to buy players and even possibly, might not be 4 points above the relegation zone.

I’m talking about an agreement with the player. We have evidence that the manager in situ was instrumental to getting it done.

Whilst we could have sacked Appleton earlier we didn't.
What sort of message would it send to potential new managers that we are willing to talk to them while our current manager is still in the job.0 -

If they appoint Wan-Bissaka, that's me done with Charlton.
I've just seen him and Scott McTominay in Charlton tracksuits house-hunting in Bickley.13 -

Id be more than happy with Nathan Jones.
But if the chat about Warnock is true then 18 months of him around this club would change our fortunes. Just watched him on Tubes golf channel, what a ledge.7
