Given Ramsay's age, contract length and skill set I genuinely think the club should be looking for at least £5m.
I object to this...
The club should not be "looking for" any bids at all!
Keep him at Charlton, get promoted, and let him strut his stuff in the Championship.
In a Charlton shirt...
He's obviously a stand out player at this level and the bids will come in whether you object or not. Rather than going down the burying of heads in the sand route I hope the club for once get ahead of the situation by hyping Ramsay through the media, setting a very high transfer fee and go all out to identify and sign a replacement(s) early. Essentially the Brentford or Peterborough model.
Again people using transfer fee numbers which are not indicative of any sense of reality. There has been only 8 or 9 players ever sold for more than 5 million coming out of league one. They usually are young forwards/attacking midfielders who are scoring in the 17-25 goal range in the league. Think Delle Ali, Dwight Gayle, Britt assombolanga. We don’t have a single player in the squad who would go for 5 million
3 good examples of young forwards going for 5 million or so from Leave. Peterborough had I believe just been relegated to League 1 when Gayle went to Palace in the summer. Assombolanga impressed at Southend before Peterborough turned him into a financial asset when he went to Nottingham Forest. Alli was sought after as a teen at MK Dons before moving to Spurs for 5 million up front with add on's. Dele lost his way in his mid 20's but TBF to him he inherited a lot of baggage from his parents.
He's so good. Not the paciest but can consistently get past one or more opponents because he has so much spatial intelligence and anticipation, the same traits that make him such a good tackler. Too good for L1.

He must be one of our quickest players? His pace has got us out of trouble a few times. Unless you mean compared to TC and Small?
He has the next 3 things he going to do and a range of options after that in his head at all times. Makes opponents look foolish because he is steps ahead of them and outmanoeuvres them without apparently trying through pace, ball control, body shape, everything together

And the rare times he does get it wrong he gets back and makes a last ditch tackle. Must be horrible to play against
Still think he has got the highest ceiling out of anyone in the squad... absolute rolls Royce, even playing out of position
I'm not sure he is playing out of position necessarily just that no one had thought to put him in a RCB role before, he is better there than as a straight RB in my opinion

He makes League One look so easy. I wouldn't be surprised to see him playing for lower half Prem team one day.
I think he easily has the highest ceiling in our current squad. I would be amazed if he isn’t playing in the premiership in a couple of years the bloke is sheer class he makes it looks effortless. Often I’m thinking shit we are in trouble here and then he mugs off one or two opposition players and just runs away from them. What an earth he was doing playing lower league is beyond me. I really wouldn’t know what a decent price would be for him but if someone comes calling it must be a big number

I agree, I think he's a perfect RCB in this squad. He's playing just like Kyle Walker did for England in Southgate's setup where the team wants to keep it tight and then allow him to creep forward when there's some control established. I think he's still got a lot of learning to do in terms of being a natural centre back with his positioning and his communication with the rest of his defence. He also seems to be happier having a winger outside him than a defender as he still isn't sure when to give up the space and when to step into it on that side but that should all come with time and experience in the role. I've never been totally sure about him as a right back, he's quick enough but rarely drives up the line like Small or even Edwards does, he likes to come inside rather than go out a lot and that's good when he's narrow but not when he's there to provide the width. He tackles and wins one on ones like Solly but he doesn't have that instinct to overlap the player in front of him which makes him less of an attacking threat. Solly really had the makings of the complete full back before the injuries whereas Ramsay has the potential to play in a lot of positions on the pitch and excel, but without having all the instincts in his game that mark him out as truly outstanding in one position. I'm hopeful that Jones keeping him at RCB and working with him will iron out those positional flaws and we'll have a real star on our hands
Liked him the minute he turned up, mainly because I've got a bit of a soft spot for Harrogate (the place), but what a players he's turned out to be. Hopefully with us for a long time. Well, at least till we get to the Prem, then we can sack all this lot off 😉
I could also see him becoming cover for Coventry in the 6 role. It would be a big learning curve but his close control and ability to get out of a tight space and drive up the pitch would be a major asset there. Don't think we'll ever see it though as it's probably too late to learn something so completely different for him

Surely (in the nicest possible way) it would be a little bit pointless to do that though? If the aim is for him to develop from a full back to a "proper" RCB then focus on that and let him grow into it instead of trying to have a utility player who never really quite nails any one position down (Jordan Cousins style - albeit Ramsay is a better player than Cousins was.)
If we need cover/competition for Coventry then get proper cover instead of dragging one of our best defenders out and having to cover that instead.

Oh I agree, that’s why I said we wouldn’t see it. I was just saying as a player he has a lot of the attributes to be successful there
I can't believe he is only 5'10". He looked well over 6ft the last couple of games I've seen.
Surely he wouldn't be RCB if that short? He is a unit.
He's got a good leap on him tbh, not as much as Godden but another where he wins more headers than you’d expect him too and against taller players
Chris Perry was the absolute master of that gimmick - short for a CB but had springs in his boots and excellent timing so he'd win headers against much bigger players.
Solly was similar too, only five foot three (according to the song ) but he could challenge taller players too.

I think he'll attract bids if we don't go up, and it will be difficult to keep him .
Rolls Royce in this league.
