Just depends whether he can sort out his complacency at times. 90% of time he does everything right but when he switches off he does tend to make big mistakes that get punished, he’s got a better chance of making it to the prem than anyone in our current squad at presentDOUCHER said:a brilliant player - i'll be surprised if he doesn't end up in the premier league6 -
It's interesting watching his Oxford highlights because he looks back to his old untroubled self, but a lot of that is because Oxford are a much weaker team than many others in the Championship. I'm not quite as convinced about his Premier League credentials, I think he's got a lot of developing to do in the next couple of years to cut out the complacency and become better at reading the game because he can't just outpace and bump opposition players off the ball when they're a higher standard. Not having that safety blanket of physical dominance has led to him looking a bit lost a couple of times this season. It's his first year at this level though and he is only coming up to a year of playing as a centre back so there's plenty of scope for him to make those improvements. Would be good to get him tied down with a new contract at the end of the season so that when those improvements come we can have some control rather than bigger teams circling as his contract dwindles.15

A good metric for how much quicker this division is compared to League One is Kayne's ability to dispossess attacker's and carry the ball away from them on the counter. It's noticeable how much harder it is for him to pull off that trick this season.4

Would be nice to know where contract talks are with him even if he’s rejected a new deal just need some clarity as next summer feels like the deadline for if we should cash in or get him signed up.2

He is one player that I enjoy watching. He has great timing when he puts in a tackle and he is also calm on the ball. He just needs to concentrate on distribution.3

There is no benefit whatsoever to the club reporting on contract negotiations.Crispywood said:Would be nice to know where contract talks are with him even if he’s rejected a new deal just need some clarity as next summer feels like the deadline for if we should cash in or get him signed up.We won’t hear anything of any substance until it’s either done or he’s moved on5 -
I hope he is fit enough to be tested vs Chelsea. I think he will smash it.1

Certainly is a joy to watch. His composure reminds me of Chris Powell - not sure of what level he can reach.Solidgone said:He is one player that I enjoy watching. He has great timing when he puts in a tackle and he is also calm on the ball. He just needs to concentrate on distribution.
He did lose form a bit earlier in the season but seems to be getting back to his best.1 -
Article on Cawley’s Substack where Jones says we want Ramsay to sign a new contract.
Says he’s not leaving unless a ridiculous offer comes in.5 -

I'm hoping for a return to fitness, confidence and form for Kayne. A new contract and then a return to his 'best of kayne' clips would be a nice bonus2
-
Back to his best yesterday, including some good back post defending. Was limping a lot towards the end of the game though. His tracking back Ramsay special tackle was one of my highlights of the game2
-
I think he’s definitely struggled with the step up in physicality. In league one players seemed to just bounce off him, and I don’t think he’s looked great defending balls in the air either.
Still obviously a very good and quality player for us.3 -
I think it’s fair to say Kayne has been inconsistent this season.5
-
Still one of our best players in terms of what he’s capable of on his day, but I agree he’s been inconsistent.
Lloyd Jones in comparison has been very consistent.
Others such as Carey and Bell have either been inconsistent or regularly injured.
I have a feeling the plan is for Sichenje to be Ramsay’s replacement if we can’t convince him to sign a new deal.7 -
A very likable lad.I've found him a little frustrating this season, but probably because his potential is pretty high. He's had to realise that he can't outpace or out-strength opposition players at will in this league, which has led to drops in confidence.I'd like to see him be more productive with the ball while passing and attacking too.A 6.5/10 season so far for me. With a RWB like Clarke, can only see him improve.0

One of Ramsay's issues is defending crosses, he appears to be hell bent on tussling with his man more than actually looking for the ball, it cost us the first goal away to Millwall, and he was guilty of it a couple of times yesterday too.5
-
Counterpoint to that is he can do it right, he did it magnificently yesterday to use his bod to just ease the Leicester player off balance. The skills are there if he can use them consistentlysam3110 said:One of Ramsay's issues is defending crosses, he appears to be hell bent on tussling with his man more than actually looking for the ball, it cost us the first goal away to Millwall, and he was guilty of it a couple of times yesterday too.1 -
I'd love to know how fit he is.
Limping like mad towards the end of yesterday's game, I'd hazard a little guess he is far from fully fit.4 -
Inconsistent is an an understatement. He has times he looked elite and other times has looked shockingly poor. I think the biggest problem is his defensive positioning. He gives the man he is marking way too much space. In a league one he could use his pace to close the gap comfortably but that is not happening in the championship and he is not adjusting .0

I think in league 1 he could allow the space and recover quite easily if needed, whereas in the championship it’s like he tries the same thing but the quality of player catches him out and can’t get the recovery tackles in as much, he will learn though, he at his best is an excellent player just needs to adapt properly and realise things aren’t quite as easy now we’ve gone up.0

I wonder if he's been fully fit since the first few games of the season. It could be the real reason for his dip in form.Fortune 82nd Minute said:I'd love to know how fit he is.

May be a hot take but part of me is glad he’s going through a few games where he’s having a rough patch, may get in his head that he’s not as untouchable as a player he think and tries to play like and doesn’t think signing a new deal would be beneath him.0
-
He's 25 which is fairly young for a centre back, especially one who has played fewer than 50 games in that position. He has stuff to learn, he needs to get better at dealing with attackers at crosses and he needs to look at Amari'i Bell and learn how to take the ball under the pressure and never get knocked off it. Bell can take a poor touch and still make sure he keeps the ball but Ramsay is learning what worked against L1 jobbers won't work against better players. He's still a great asset though and he can only improve3

Frustrating me atm.
A bit like the sending off against Millwall, he's actually at his worst when playing on impulse. Take yesterday's cross-field ball, perfect for their player, or that strike hooked over the bar.Come on, Kayne, we know you have it in you, but focus on nailing the basics - then you'll shine.2 -
Suicidal ball late on last night which almost cost us and resulted in an injury to Kaminski. I’m not sure he’s fully fit either.3
-
Crikey he is really off the boil at the moment isn't he.0

Think Collins will come into the team earlier than expected. Stevie Wonder can see that Ramsay just isn't in good form and is becoming a liability.
Good player but let him take some games on the bench, recharge and come out with a point to prove.2 -
I expect Collins has been signed to replace Ramsay getting sold in the summer since he won't sign a new contract.king addick said:Think Collins will come into the team earlier than expected. Stevie Wonder can see that Ramsay just isn't in good form and is becoming a liability.

On his day, right up there with Jones as our best players but he looks so low on confidence/fitness. They probably come hand in hand to be fair. He will play his way back into form im sure.
