"Onel's been injured for the last four, five weeks," Jones said. "It's meant that his opportunities have been curtailed, but the lads love him. The lads loved Jérôme, he was a popular figure - it's just he hadn't played football so to put him into a Championship game was unfair and would've stretched us. Trust me, we wanted to do it because it was a position that we just couldn't fill.

"Onel started really well and then just picked up an injury because, again, when you take a free agent he hadn't played, he hadn't trained at the intensity that we do and so on. He was unfortunate with that. We wish both Onel and Jérôme all the best for the future."

    - why sign either of them?!

Wouldn’t be fair on Onel, I think we all know what that means.

Onel did provide cover at LWB and on the right at times and looked like he had decent athleticism and work rate, he's just not a wingback and it showed. But it meant we could keep playing TC up front. Rousillon was clearly desperation, but we were desperate, and he was just miles off it. As Cawley has said, I highly doubt either are on particularly big money, so it's not a huge loss one way or the other. I'd rather the club try something than do nothing. At least with Hernandez it worked for a bit until he had his handball moment.

Thought I’d stumbled into a John Le Carre spy film with all this talk of “assets”
  • Very disappointing interview. He didn't mention "front footed" or "best versions of ourselves", not even once!
  • He looks off his face a bit for the first question

NJ for all his antics on the touchline, appears quite relaxed in interviews recently.
I think he is confident in his and the players' ability to steer us away from the relegation zone.

It's a very good interview and more fans should watch it. Being a football manager can be brutal as fans' expectations change all the time. I remember when after 8 years in the Prem some fans were calling for Curb's head. Look where that got us.
I think we should all cut Jones a lot of slack, recognise that 20th is a massive achievement and leave any critique of him until after the end of the season.

Last week would be a massive relief with 4 new signings in the top 5 of our fan ratings and Chambers being MOTM. Could all change tonight but i'm confident it won't and we have our solidity back in place and ready to pick off some fancy dans who try and play football.  (came 2 weeks earlier than we would have liked but so be it)

I won't call for Jones head as he has proven he is a good manager. We tried hiring and firing and it got us nowhere. We need to put all our chips on Jones and play the long game.

We seem to get results in blocks of runs, be it good and bad.  It is very frustrating.
IF we had won tonight I would have thought we'd have been safe from relegation with us being ten points in front of Leicester/third place spot.
I still think we will stay up and we can then say that Jones has done a fantastic job with us.
Hopefully we do not go on a bad run of form, our next two games are away after all and we have only gathered four points from nine in these three home games.
I am still pleased we have Jones in the hot seat, and hopefully leading us forward next season.

It must be as baffling for Jones as the fans why our players are almost to a man completely Jeckyl and Hyde types. One game they can look easily good enough to compete in this league, the next they look Sunday league.
  • Completely lost his head at the end with a fan in the North lower. Had to be dragged down the tunnel by players.

One "theory" I'd wonder is if players were playing tonight not fully fit... Jones post-Stoke clearly had the flu and even mentioned it himself, so could have passed it on to others - I've had it myself, and have known others have it, so something is definitely doing the rounds this time of the year.
But in which case though, why are individuals being picked if they're not fully fit. I'm not of the fitness of a Professional Footballer, but there have been times the last few weeks where I've not had my usual energy.

Going to be an interesting interview after that…

Apparently they said something derogatory about Luke Berry as we was coming off the pitch. Jones went absolutely berserk - very unsavoury incident
