  • Got draw written all over it, but we need all three points, with the next 3 games being against the top 3, no win tonight puts us bang in massive trouble.

Lets add another line up into the mix

                  Isted
    Ramsay REG Jones Thomas
                Dobson
       Coventry Bakinson
                Watson
               May Kanu

AMB, Edun, Gillesphey, Camara, Campbell, Fiorini/Aneke, Ladapo

Although fullback/ wingback is just as important for width in the diamond as the back 3 line up, Thomas (small if fit) gets the nod on the left, Edun just cant cut it defensively and Thomas should make us more solid, Bakinson and Watson can cover the attacking on the left, Coventry and Dobson the covering for Ramsay getting forward on the right. Kanu has to start.

That line up also gives us a fairly strong bench, even if Camara and (hopefully) Aneke only make cameos, Edun and Campbell for some late game pace and Ladapo to, I dunno, maybe trap the ball once if need be.

Anyway, 2-0 home win and sighs of relief all around.
  • Would definitely start Kanu with May, DK was the only player who looked up for it against Reading and at the very least offers some pace and tenacity.

Tonight feels huge and a failure to win really puts us deep in trouble. Our fate will probably be decided in March when you look at the teams we face.

No idea if he's fit but I'd like to see Small at LB, if not Edun (despite him being crap). Hate seeing Thomas at LB

4-1 victory to Charlton has the rabid 18k in the stands looking up the Play off dates for May 2025
  • Charlton are in real trouble. League 2 is looking favourite at the moment.
The next four games, Lincoln, Bolton, Derby, Portsmouth. If we come away from These 4 games with 3 points we would have done well.
We will probably be starting March in the bottom three and points adrift.
Appleton was left in charge too long and it’s probably too late to change things now but we can hope. Going into league 2 would bring financial instability to a club on its knees. Club would  need to renegotiate players contracts etc.
All this talk on who plays where, formations etc mean nothing it’s all about survival unfortunately in the 20 years a season ticket holder I’ve never seen it this bad. Such a shame for such a once big club.

  • This is Nathan Jones Gig and I wish him luck as he has to find potentially 16 players during 100+ minutes to commit to his plans, play with controlled passion, belief, skill and have each others backs and when a mistake is made, make a block or win the ball back.
Don't compound the original mistake by making another !

Yes, it sounds impossible with the strangers that we have accumulated but that is Nathan Jones remit and if we are still in League 1 next season we should be grateful that he stopped the slide into oblivion and Grimsby.

It’s Ramsay with an ‘a’ before the ‘y’ folks, nowhere near as bad as Ventokele or Gillespie but the misspelling is still doing my head in 😉.

  • It’ll be 4-1 to Charlton and we’ll be all ‘what were we worried about?!’. We’ll come home and our better halves will have ironed our shirts, dusted our train sets, and will be lying in bed naked with a train conductor’s whistle resting provocatively in their mouth.
Is that 'whistle' some sort of dodgy innuendo?

I'll take the win, and the train conductor can stick his whistle soemwhere appropriate.
  • Still waiting for that game where we turn the corner.

My concern is what might be facing us when we do...
  • I would rather have Thomas playing left back than Edun.

Although Andy Scott returns home to find Appleton in his bed...
  • Big game tonight really need them 3 points. Although it would be very Charlton to lose tonight and then go pull off a surprise result vs Pompey Derby/Bolton

  • If Dobson is playing, is captain and is up for it, then I can see him leading us on to the long awaited victory. No Dobson = Defeat.

Chuks from the bench will be a huge boost and should cheer up everyone. It will be great to have some positive game-changing options on the bench for a change, rather than the substitutions usually leading to us conceding a goal shortly thereafter.

Really, really, really hoping this is the game we finally get the elusive win.
  • 2-1 to Charlton
  • I'm convinced we are going to win 2-1 , however , i also got zero points in the prediction league this week....

Not forgetting Cheltenham v Port Vale coming up this Saturday and Reading v Port Vale next Tuesday.

What with Fleetwood v Reading tonight we can not afford to drop points tonight.

Think you have been on the champagne already.

  • I think the nicknames for Ladapo already are a bit harsh, he's actually a proven player at this level and joined a side who have been terrible all season.

He's only played just over 400 minutes of football for us, the majority of that time under Appleton in the Burton and Northampton games, two games under interim managers and just the one chance under Jones so far.

Alright he hasn't played great, but that's writing off a player far too quickly, especially one that could be vital in keeping us up.
He's not been up to it as of yet but I agree. The service into him & May has been absolutely shocking.
