I have no hobbies whatsoever, enjoy following CAFC, (if you can enjoy following CAFC) but any hobby i have tried always seems to turn into a tedious time consuming waste of time. Have been invited to various clubs and societies over the years but i have always found them to be clique. I do travel but it is not an all consuming passion.
As i now only work part time i really do wish i could find something that i could say this is my hobby, and i am at times quite envious of people who get enjoyment from playing a musical instrument, drawing and painting etc.
Films. In particular old films from the 30s, 40s and 50s and also the silent era I'm getting into. Last couple of yrs I've become a real film buff although not as much as others and got some catching up to do.
I'm 25 and I think it's important that people my age aren't just watching films from 70s/80s onwards. Although I also watch new films too and whilst saying this I'm off to see a preview of new film called Evil Does Not Exist from Japan.
Sadly no one got my insta story the other day, but as my dad said it shows they ain't been brought up right.
It's about this time of year that I turn my thoughts to my tropical plants, basically what has survived the winter and what hasn't, too early to get anything outside yet but light watering and sea weed feeds start bringing everything back to life, I better have a swig myself.
DIY is something I get saddled with but is absolutely not a hobby. I have mates who love nothing more than spending their free time doing projects and more power to them. I hate it.
My garden is a labour of love, I get left alone there and when the summer is in full flow it can look glorious. Cooking is not a hobby, its something I take seriously but I take enjoyment from the eating not the cooking.
Running, walking, kayaking and more recently gardening. As my missus points out the occasional trip to the pictures doesn't really count as an indoor interest and I need to find fewer weather dependent pastimes.
My attempt to pick up the guitar again was scuppered by it creating murder with my arthritic fingers.
Classic cars and collecting automobilia for my garage (oil cans, metal signs etc). My wife and daughter rip the piss out of me and call me a nerd. TBF, they’re probably right.
Also got back into collecting vinyl after getting a new turntable set up.
Trying to get back into listening to LP's. Have a small collection which does go back a few years. Have a classic hi-fi system which I should be using more. Also thinking about getting some basic punk guitar lessons from my neighbour who is the lead guitarist in a psychobilly band. Plus the garden needs some serious work this year.
I really can't believe anyone starting a thread about hobbies, half way through a match we were winning in our battle against relegation. How very strange.
Do you expect them to just be constantly refreshing the match thread for two hours ?
Have always been into my Motorbikes ( Have a Triumph scrambler but looks like its going to go as my knees are shot ) Love my Music , have a large collection of CD`S Records Go to lots of gigs throughout the year . Gardening . Would love to do Metal Detecting but looking at the rules a regs its seems impossible to find anywhere to detect .

Tbf to the OP, he created the thread at half-time.
My main interest is cricket ( playing and watching..Will have played 50 consecutive years of club cricket this year) I play walking football twice a week, Yoga and have a 1 and half acre garden to keep me busy

Will ask a friend who goes detecting every week as to what the regs are.
Metal Detecting is a brilliant hobby. Fresh air, nature and great exercise (and occasionally you find something other than trash!). It’s a form of mindfulness for me and does wonders for my mental wellbeing.

I think at its heart, that's the real big benefit of all hobbies. The ability to immerse yourself in the moment and put everything else in the background. No fretting about what you should have done in the past or worrying about what might happen in the future; it's just you, in the moment, enjoying whatever you like doing. And it really doesn't matter what it is, so long as it's legal and you get pleasure out of it. To those of you who've said you don't have a hobby, please for your own sakes go and get one (in fact I'd recommend several, so you can cover all combinations of indoor/outdoor and alone/social). It doesn't matter what it is, just get out there and try something, there's a whole world of stuff to do and to be interested in. I can't believe there's not something for everybody.
Sorry for getting all preachy, but evangelising about hobbies is one of my hobbies.

You’re obviously an informed sports (boxing) follower Carter. Any thoughts on Parker v Zang coming up in a few days in Saudi Arabia?
Charlton, football in general, sport in general… between following the cricket, tennis, golf, rugby, NFL and baseball it sometimes it makes it difficult to find the time for other stuff!
Listening to and playing (not very well) music. More recently coding (also to debatable skill level :-) ). The occasional critically acclaimed TV series or film.

Thats more of a curse than a hobby!
I think Parker is capable of beating Zhang over 12 rounds, he moves very well and can outscore him. Ive seen Zhang fight 3 times as a pro and a few times as an amateur. What he did to Joyce first time I think is unique to Joyce, he did everything wrong first time round and then did the same again but more ponderously second time round. If Parker can stay active and on the move, not give Zhang time to set his feet then he would be where my money goes. However caveat that with Zhang being the favourite for a good reason as he can really whack especially if presented with a target that doesn't move.
