Championship Relegation Watch 2024

Since we can stop worrying about League One relegation, thought it was a good time to start a Championship Relegation Watch…
Nine teams separated by five points with five games left to play - although you’d have to say that Sheff Wed, Birmingham, Millwall and Plymouth are the sides in most danger.

Huddersfield fixtures: Preston (A), Bristol City (A), Swansea (H), Birmingham (H), Ipswich (A)
Millwall fixtures: Leicester (H), Cardiff (H), Sunderland (A), Plymouth (H), Swansea (A)

Did Plymouth lose a lot of players in the summer? Obviously Championship is much more difficult, you'd still think getting 101 points in league one would mean not struggling like this season.1

Those fixtures must give Millwall some hope. Personally I’d say Birmingham have the better fixtures. I thought Sheff We’d might squeak out of it but I think not looking at their games.Callumcafc said:Sheff Wed fixtures: Norwich (H), Stoke (H), Blackburn (A), West Brom (H), Sunderland (A)

Think Sheff Wed & Birmingham will join Rotherham.1

Can see Chef Wendy beating Stoke, get something against West Brom, and pick up a win at either Blackburn or Sunderland.ShootersHillGuru said:

Erm confession time. I know I've mentioned on here before that my wife's side of the family are all Millwall. I cringed inside when we was told my niece had requested the entire family attend Millwall v Watford for her 7th birthday. My wife gave me a look of disgust when I suggested I should sit it out... so against my better judgement I went to the Den on Saturday, first time in the home end.
There was a good tribute to their keeper before the game. They done that very well. Even the Watford fans held up a banner in his memory.
Then it went downhill. Blimey, the football was dire. Watford's no.8, the little Georgian fella absolutely ran the show from start to finish, capped it off with a lovely free kick. He really shouldn't be playing in the Championship with that ability. Millwall are going to be bang in trouble if they keep the same keeper between the sticks as he looked all at sea. To be fair they gave it a good go second half but Watford deservedly edged it as they played the better football.
I'd be very worried if I was a Millwall fan.
Anyway, hopefully my niece has come to her senses and will demand will all go somewhere nicer next birthday FFS.
(Yes, I've had a wash and my vaccinations since getting home, I beg forgiveness!)9 -
forgiveness not granted unless you guarantee me the scums relegation because you left some sort of shit spurs voodoo there8

After yesterday's performance assumed this would be about Plymouth.0

well on that basis, you can pretty much guarantee they'll win the square root of fuck all for the next million years or so...oohaahmortimer said:forgiveness not granted unless you guarantee me the scums relegation because you left some sort of shit spurs voodoo there2 -
I permit you to go every week if it has the same outcome.JohnBoyUK said:Erm confession time. I know I've mentioned on here before that my wife's side of the family are all Millwall. That's a bit harsh could we have a rota to share it out?0

If tubby Rooney is kept on at Plymouth for any length of time, they are gonna be very close to walking the plank back down to L1 come season's end2

Looking like a long season for QPR1

Not sure what Millwall v Watford game you was at last week but it certainly wasn’t the one I was at. Yeah, Watford may have slightly edged it in the first half but the second half it was all us and we had by far the better chances throughout.JohnBoyUK said:Erm confession time. (Yes, I've had a wash and my vaccinations since getting home, I beg forgiveness!)Their first goal was a total fluke, their second was a blinder, but their third was a good half a yard offside. We hit the post 2 or 3 times, had a couple cleared off the line and had a stonewall penalty turned down. Any other day we’re winning that game comfortably.Agree our new keeper looks a bit iffy but so did Sarkic after his first few games. He needs time to bed in and get to know his back line.Shipped quite a few goals the first two games but Tanganga is back in the team next week and we still have a couple of key players out, who should be back soon. We’ll be fine. Mid table and a nice little cup run thrown in and I’ll be happy with that. We finished last season very strongly and the team this season is stronger than it was last season so I’m not worried about relegation at all. 2 shit results don’t make a season. It’s a marathon not a sprint.1 -
Might be wrong, but feels like they're in a championship relegation fight almost every season for past few years.ShootersHillGuru said:Looking like a long season for QPR3 -
The new Birmingham… they will drop eventually without some serious interventionstoneroses19 said:

They were destined for league one the season before last, then they beat Burnley away, forwards the end of the season. Burnley had won the title/ promotion the week before.stoneroses19 said:

The small clubs appear to be bunched at the bottom of the Championship. Plymouth, Millwall, Luton, Hull. All punching above their weight.4

Good to see the massives getting an absolute towelling right now.1
