That Plymouth manager must be a master tactician… 🙄
It was a mad appointment to be honest. I’ve felt Plymouth a well run and sensible club and the appointment of Rooney is quite uncharacteristic. I think they’ll be flirting with bottom three certainly. I think Millwall will be fine. Next four fixtures are Hull (A) Sheff Wed (H) Luton (H) QPR (A). I can see six or seven points there.
A lot of people don’t seem to realise that Rooney’s appointment was and is about much more than managerial ability. It does huge amounts for merchandise, gates, support and a club’s finances in general. There’ll be a point where it’s no longer worth it of course, but at the moment, it’s still very much beneficial for clubs to be able to say that Wayne Rooney is their manager.

I think most people do realise what his appointment was about.
As you say, there comes a point when the draw of a big name isn’t enough. I think a lot of people, myself included, are of the opinion that Plymouth have misjudged this. When he was straight out of playing, it was a gamble worth taking - players and supporters were nervously excited and we all remember Derby County’s rebranding on Sky as “Wayne Rooney’s Derby County”. Now, Rooney comes with a reputation as a bad manager. References to “Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth” have been rarer. I don’t think people are interested anymore. I expect players aren’t particularly excited to be playing for a proven failure in management - the fans certainly aren’t happy. He’s been found out and we’re all just waiting for him to fail again.
Erm confession time. I know I've mentioned on here before that my wife's side of the family are all Millwall. I cringed inside when we was told my niece had requested the entire family attend Millwall v Watford for her 7th birthday. My wife gave me a look of disgust when I suggested I should sit it out... so against my better judgement I went to the Den on Saturday, first time in the home end.
There was a good tribute to their keeper before the game. They done that very well. Even the Watford fans held up a banner in his memory.
Then it went downhill. Blimey, the football was dire. Watford's no.8, the little Georgian fella absolutely ran the show from start to finish, capped it off with a lovely free kick. He really shouldn't be playing in the Championship with that ability. Millwall are going to be bang in trouble if they keep the same keeper between the sticks as he looked all at sea. To be fair they gave it a good go second half but Watford deservedly edged it as they played the better football.
I'd be very worried if I was a Millwall fan.
Anyway, hopefully my niece has come to her senses and will demand will all go somewhere nicer next birthday FFS.
(Yes, I've had a wash and my vaccinations since getting home, I beg forgiveness!)
Not sure what Millwall v Watford game you was at last week but it certainly wasn’t the one I was at. Yeah, Watford may have slightly edged it in the first half but the second half it was all us and we had by far the better chances throughout.
Their first goal was a total fluke, their second was a blinder, but their third was a good half a yard offside.
We hit the post 2 or 3 times, had a couple cleared off the line and had a stonewall penalty turned down. Any other day we’re winning that game comfortably.
Agree our new keeper looks a bit iffy but so did Sarkic after his first few games. He needs time to bed in and get to know his back line.
Shipped quite a few goals the first two games but Tanganga is back in the team next week and we still have a couple of key players out, who should be back soon.
We’ll be fine. Mid table and a nice little cup run thrown in and I’ll be happy with that. We finished last season very strongly and the team this season is stronger than it was last season so I’m not worried about relegation at all. 2 shit results don’t make a season. It’s a marathon not a sprint.

Further proof that it was a catastrophic appointment. He’s got no managerial credibility and I’ll bet more Plymouth fans are worried than excited by it.
Plenty of Harris out threads on spanners online after 2 games 😂
Mitchell might have been ok for them
Not looked at the 200 page thread on us recently but they only tend to post when we lose
One of the reasons that Harris left first time around was because the fans felt the football was boring and negative. Perhaps this time around Harris is setting the team up to be more expansive so as not to draw the same criticism. We’ll soon see if he has the personnel to win like that. If they are still bottom five after the next four or five games I think he’ll already come under pressure. The New Den is not a forgiving set of fans.

So when you say ‘plenty’ what you actually mean is 1 ?
The one titled ‘Harris’ is the only genuine one. And the OP gets absolutely slaughtered for it from about 95% of the posters on there. The other one titled ‘Harris out’ is a wind up, as the OP alluded to in the very first post on it. 🤷🏻
so yeah, ‘plenty’ of Harris out threads on Millwall online 🤣🤣🤣
Watched the Bristol City vs Millwall highlights and judging by that, we definitely signed Millwall's best defender.
Hmmm I think it’s safe to say Japhet Tanganga is a much better defender than Mitchell so not sure that you’re correct there.
BTW, how’s Mitchell doing so far? There are a few fans saying it was a big mistake to let him go, but also a few saying none of our last three managers rated him enough to start him and they can’t all be wrong?

Maybe. Unfortunately it’s the owners that run the club, not the fans.

Only seen him once in the most recent game. Big, strong and full of desire. He looks like a CB and isn't afraid to go where it hurts. Seems a very very decent acquisition for us and a huge step up on Hector and Thomas of last season. I would expect him to play much of his career in the Championship from the very little I saw but clearly it's too early to really judge.

Then you pay off rooney in November and lose any profits you've made, all while being in the shit.

Sheff Wed beat Plymouth 4-0 last week.
