All in all looks like we have been given a proper glow up. Many thanks to the owners for the investment, it is easy to take for granted, but when you travel the country and see water pouring through our oppo club’s stands’ roofs etc and despite looking great from the outside needing repair inside, appears to prove that the current owners do want to get things right on every front 👏👏👏👏 Thank you for the photos @Henry Irving
Most of the investment is from an FA grant (£750,000) secured to allow the women's team to play their home fixtures at the ground.

And what was the total cost ?

IIRC £1.2M but that was a couple of years ago under Sandgaard

So still a significant investment by the owners.

Ok SE9 put it away and look at the pitch.
  • I note they take a more relaxed approach to their pitch preparation at West Ham.

Interesting on the car park charges for non match days. I’ve often just gone in and parked when picking up tickets, so this looks like they’ll want a further £2 to add to the £1.50 booking fee for tickets I’m collecting 🤷🏻‍♂️🙄

    Isn't the 1st hour free?

Are the charges for the car park now on line rather than through the ticket office for match days, so you can’t pre book?

    That would be sensible.

I am not sure about that. Very often during a quiet midweek, I will drive to the Valley, park in the car park just long enough to go to the ticket office.
The sign is unclear, it doesn’t specify the first hour is free.
This action looks to be one that will lose the club money by putting off people like me.

If on business with the club I would expect the club/ shop/  ticket office to validate your parking receipt.

    On non match days.

I think you have to pay using some kind of technology that does not provide a receipt.
I have no idea how calling the parking company on your mobile telephone and reading out your credit card details to the call handler is supposed to work.
So going in person to the Valley by car, to buy extra tickets, cup tickets, tickets for away games or booking travel, or to sort anything else is not now supposed to work.
I used to drive in on a quiet midweek, nip out of the car, go to the window where there might be one or two other people, do my transaction, get back in the car and go.
The club have seemingly put an end to that.
It was my plan to drive to the Valley to buy tickets for the Birmingham City cup game, but getting a £100 fine for doing so seems very harsh.

Maybe it’s supporting The concept of going Green and using public transport 😉🙂

Disincentivise use of cars and all that.

    Yes that is possible.
However if you’re shopping on the peninsular by using your car because carrying the stuff home by bus would be difficult, then the little diversion to the Valley to buy tickets is out.
If people want to travel to the Valley on a quiet midweek by bus or train in order to get tickets, good for them.
Personally I think it is a stupid decision, or it is at the very least unclear.
Maybe the legendary ‘fans forum’ were consulted. I wouldn’t know because I haven’t seen the notes of that meeting.
The solution is of course easy. A great big sign that says 20 minutes parking is free.

May I suggest an email to the club shop might offer some clarity?
