If what I heard on Saturday is true............... the pitch is heavily rolled now to stop it cutting up too much where the grass is thin/non-existent and certain things were done to save money (against sensible advice) when contract was placed and pitch was re-laid in the summer...... not too much can be done properly until weather improves and footie stops in the summer.
Were once again the pitch can be replaced and boiler system connected.

All to save money, you are having a laugh.

Frozen area in the shade of the Jimmy Seed stand.

Two cars in the car park prevented getting the heat lamps onto the pitch.

    Match postponed.

Aparently this was the number plate of one of the cars:

I'll guess we'll never know who it belongs to 🤷

How how many Charlton employees does it take to change a lightbulb ?- comes to mind given the state of our floodlights too. 😉😆

Well now we know that the pitch at The Valley has no undersoil heating or is the boiler still not connected.😂😂😂😂😂

    Indeed.

Let's hope we don't have any further weather issues this season.

I heard the weather could be turning colder next weekend onwards.

I was told today that the covers weren't put on last night so hopefully that was just an oversight & will be before any games we play. Also told that we do now have undersoil heating but not have it confirmed.

Fid he used to be our groundsman by any chance? Any chance he'd come back?
    Sadly no!

    I did ask. 😉
Tell him that the grass isn’t always greener.
    That's a good one :D

Okay this is what I have been told. The club were informed that the pitch needed another two weeks to stabilise prior to the season's start. But they went ahead with the PSF vs Portsmouth anyway. It was this match that wrecked any chance of the pitch doing what it was supposed to. The plastic stuff never got the opportunity to blend properly with the real grass and is now mostly lying flat.
The weather, women's games, etc, etc is really not making any difference.

Obviously the club will not have any comeback on the installers if they did not follow their advice.

It will likely fix itself during the summer months.
    Who told you this?
    An ex-player.

Could be a cracking investment. Alternatively, Sutcliffe Park is available and likely to be in a similar condition.

It's a good idea, the money coming in goes to the costs of repairs in the summer, ahem.

It does seem incredulous we would risk the pitch further for a few quid  (as I’m sure the corporate hire is a limited money spinner) when CM told us the issue  was weather related and the pitch needs time.

Doesn’t suggest that even if we get promoted funds will be spent on the squad if we are worried about a few thousand from corporate hire.

    Too cynical ?

From May 4th? Obviously the club isn’t expecting to make the play-offs then.
Must you always be so bottle half full?, we're obviously still expecting automatic promotion!, ;)

    What’s that tapping noise?
oh that’ll be someone at the club on their laptop editing all the comms relating to this adding *subject to clubs progression via play-offs.

Maybe we can have a double header when we host our playoff match.

Before Charlton vs Wrexham at 7:45pm, we'll also be able to watch ABC Consulting play Xenon Technologies, who've booked the 6pm slot.

Considering this isn't the SMT first foray in running a football club, you'd think that decisions like the one they've just released, what with the state of the pitch, this wouldn't happen. But then I remember watching Sunderland till I die, and it all makes sense.

So now it’s clearer to see how bad the pitch is.

Rome wasn't built in a day, plus its dark up there, a lot of bulbs are out you know!.

I watched the league highlights show last night and many of the pitches are as crap as our own, the difference is that they probably didn't pay a fortune relaying theirs.

Have just clicked onto a recent Bromley game and their pitch looks in fantastic condition.  They were non-league last season and had to pull up their 3g for a grass one.
Perhaps we should make contact with them on who did their work.

It’s a lot easier to maintain a pitch in a small ground, in terms of sunlight etc

    Only the Chelsfield part.
    The rest is pretty grim.
