  • Be glad when Richard Cawley comes back, Edmund Brack has never heard of us, by the look of cover he gives us 😠

No way Taylor goes, people seem to be basing that on him being fit at the end of the season but not featuring, something we could afford to do because we had so many midfielders at the time (remember Louie Watson, Camara and Fiorini not even getting in the squads) so we could make sure he didn't re-injure himself.

He's a set piece specialist and a box to box midfielder, very similar to Coventry and I expect them to compete for that role.
Would it have mattered if he reinjured himself given the season was about to end?
It would if it meant he missed pre-season
Could have said the same about any player.
Much riskier for someone just coming back from injury though

He probably just doesn't have the same contacts

Yeah I didn’t get it at all. Last game of the season and Florini, a player who definitely wouldn’t be here this season, started over him. Found it bizarre and personally I wouldn’t be surprised if he is loaned out for a few months, especially if we sign Bishop.

Can only imagine Fiorini had to make x appearances to preserve fees payable, less games and the fees increased. Only logical explanation. Also, there was no pressure to play Taylor having been out for so long. Now he is fit, hopefully we can gauge what impact he will have?
  • I'm worried about Leaburns injuries, quite a few already and still young. Similar size to Aneke and we know how that goes
  • Exactly how I feel.
Hopefully once fit he can remain fit.

Important to remember that his injury this time last season was caused by a pub-team defender, and then we were under pressure to get him back in because May was up front on his own. Aneke has always seemed to have a rather unusual body shape, although some people on here have reported he seems to have become trimmer. Either way, apart from height I don't see them as that similar.

I think he's pretty good on the SLP podcast to be fair. We aren't one of his teams so it's probably him spinning plates until Rich comes back

Evidently he has bulked up considerably during rehab.

Will be interesting to see where he ends up
    Auxerre is the favourite

Makes sense. I would think there’s a decent chance Bair speaks French.

    Hopefully in a good way.

In honesty when we were first linked I looked at a lot of footage of him and wasn't massively impressed.  I was prepared to give him a chance but I don;t think he was going to rip up any trees
  • Auxerre just promoted to Ligue 1 so a big step up for him really

I still don't get it. It's not come out of the club, it was just made up online as a possible reason he was being left out and now it's become the reason. Who knows, maybe it is, but until we hear otherwise, the far likelier story that Jones just didn't pick the guy.

If they were that worried about him getting injured then he wouldn't have been playing in the U21's.

If Taylor had come in for the last 3 games of the season, and had some decent minutes, contributing a goal or an assist, that would surely have set him up nicely for the summer with a nice confidence boost.

We do love to tie ourselves in knots about the tiniest little things that are happening. You must surely know that it isn't good for your mental health.  Relax and let NJ and his team worry about the reasons behind who did and didnt make last season’s squad.

It was refreshingly professional that we allowed Taylor and Jones to rehab properly and not force them into a full on game, albeit an end of season non-event like our last few games were. It’s something we haven't done for a decade or more, usually forcing players back too early out of necessity 🤷🏻‍♂️
Yes, and a huge factor in the revolving door of injuries we have suffered.
  • Taylor didn't play much in the unders either though. So either a) he's not in NJs plans b) he picked up another injury the club didn't disclose c) we didn't want to rush/risk him given what happened to Leaburn and Aneke d) he was available and NJ doesn't have any issues with him he just didn't pick him at all.

    I reckon it's more b or c than a or d but that's just me

By that point Abbott was in charge of the medical side of things so it might not even have been Jones' decision - he may have been told that Taylor should not be risked or was ready for training but not at full match readiness.
