Isn't Brad Collin in the diminutive bracket when it comes to keepers?
    He is 6 foot tall.

Dillon Philips, do me a favour, some of you need to expand your horizons
What you mean like Darren Randolph?
I was thinking more along the lines of Bob Bolder.

Passes the CL height test. But not for keepers :)

Which is small for a keeper these days.

Eddie Hopkinson was only 5'9 and played plenty of times for England although people say goalkeepers were better protected then. I don't think Ray Wood would agree. Lol

I thought I was the Millwall fan!?
Do you feel better now you’ve finally said it?
    And breathe…

tbh when we played millwall in 2017 (the 0-0 with the wrongly disallowed goal for us) I wondered if my nine year old self might re-emerge, but no.

This Sky coverage is going to save me a few quid this season!

I worry it will devastate attendances.  Why spend £60 plus when you can watch at home?  Only the hardcore will continue going, unless prices are slashed.

True. Clubs would have known this was coming. Haven’t studied the deal, but I’m assuming there must be some sort of financial benefit?

I am sure they are making some money, but without an atmosphere there is a rather bland product.

    Agreed

He also started today for the Millers and Dawson is on the bench despite the squad numbers.

Sky are only covering a small number of games, and people were watching games on streaming last season anyway.

I would say we need a goalkeeper, creative midfielder and a striker

I hope a positive start makes us push harder for the better quality players we still need and not think we have enough to stay as we are.

Hopefully any targets we’ve looked at will see today’s result and think we look a good prospect for promotion.

Leaburn & Godden will hopefully solve the striker issue

We have 6 strikers as Leaburn is back soon , and to be honest Mannion has looked solid the last two games. Unless it’s a  significantly better keeper I wouldn’t worry. Even the midfielder I don’t know where they get in when Taylor and Berry can’t. But happy to see us try get some top players if we can spend a bit.

I don't think we'll see another first choice striker join, but we still have Godden, Leaburn and hopefully Dixon to add to the four we used today so we'll have plenty of options at the very least.

Agree with the other two positions and I'd like a left sided CB too so Gillesphey has proper competition.

Hopefully Ness and Fraser move on sooner than later. Wouldn't be surprised if Edun and/or Taylor leave too. Asiimwe and Zach Mitchell's new shirt numbers 19 and 20 probably suggests they won't be loaned out.

Feel like a creative midfielder is the main part of the puzzle really. I get that going away from home you might not always start with one and maybe Luke Berry is that player in NJs eyes but I do wonder if we're actively looking for one once Fraser is out.

A 10 and a GK are the priority.

Another left sided defender too for covering purposes, unless NJ thinks Edwards can play there and Small/Edun play LWB

Don’t think we’re getting a creative 10. Jones rarely ever plays with one. He values pressing from the front and hard work more than someone who might create an opening 15 times a season. That’s why Anderson plays every game and Scott Fraser is on the way out.
There is a lot to be said at this level.of football for playing and doing your best to control percentages. Any consistent number 10 type player would be signed by a championship club in January whereas a team greater than the sum of parts like CBT and even JRS as we began relying on them to conjure a chance out of thin air. Pressing and out muscling, squeezing teams gives me a lot more confidence of consistently performing and competing at this level and probably the level above although then the need for quality is greater

That also makes quite a lot of sense for why he'd employ Campbell and/or Dixon in that "10" position despite being wingers by trade. They aren't there to provide incisive passes or cross the ball, he wants them on the ball using pace and trickery to run at defenders and create chances - either for themselves by going past players or for others from set plays or error by defenders.

It's not glamorous and requires a lot of patience but it can work. Most "classic" playmaker types just don't have the physicality Jones wants, at least at our level.

Aside from Potts potentially being signed, I think I saw that Edwards has also played as a left-sided centre back in a back three. So that’s an option with Small then covering wing-back.

Id love to see that so we had both Edwards and Small in the side.

It’s an option but I think we still need to sign a proper LCB. Having a few versatile players should never be a reason to not have depth in the squad.

Edwards also had a decent goal and assist record last season which shows he has the potential to be an attacking threat and not just a solid defender.
